It's not exactly dead, if you consider that a > 6 year old game still has 7,000 - 9,000 concurrent players... Oh, and I have moved your posts in its own thread.

Getting 'Confirm Settings' and 'Connecting Failure'

Did you make sure you're not on a different version than the server you're trying to join? IE: You're on Experimental version, but try to join stable servers. -
No, not necessarily. It depends on the way the mod is created. Especially if a mod is serverbased there's no way someone would be able to interfere or even be able to read that code (much like the way it's being handled right now), unless there's a flaw in the game engine itself. ARMA 2 was never meant to handle a playerbase such as DayZ Mod provided, which is why the scripting was rampant - but this is one thing that the standalone set out to change. Thus, as long as the base game is safe and the modder has a little bit of experience with the engine and how things are being handled, it's safe. And I don't expect the "not so experienced" modders to release extremely popular mods anyway, as they usually go along with poor performance, which puts people right off. TL;DR: It's not the modding availability itself that may be a problem, it's the modders.

Care to elaborate on that? Because it literally doesn't make any sense. The only reason DayZ exists in the first place is because of modding and if modding wasn't allowed there would only be ARMA 2, which Standalone obviously is not.

how to get dayz to run better without turning graphics down loads?
kichilron replied to JarheadLeeds's topic in General Discussion
The reason I am starting an argument is because that's what a Forum is for, as long as they're civil. If you don't understand that, you don't understand the concept of communication, which I do. Your only goal (this time around) seems to be optimisation and that's pretty much the only thing I'm taking away from your comment. If that were the only way to determine whether a survival game is good or not, DayZ wouldn't be on the top lists, that's true. -
Wa'? You're the one trolling and starting the argument about ARMA 2 being from 2009. Make up your mind. And that they're working on the new renderer is quite apparent, seeing as they're disclosing it in the dev-reports (which you said you were reading). You can't really blame them for not giving exact dates on the new technical stuff, seeing as when they're atleast one day over people like you come screaming and trying to rip their hearts out as if you're their boss. We already know you don't have the patience to deal with this, but atleast be civil about it.

By no means a good looking game. Single Player game with by no means exceptional performance. It looks great, yes. But one thing to keep in mind: the developers were not game developers, they were exclusively Hollywood special effects artists.. Apart from Batman possibly the worst performing title of the last 2-3 months. A lot of YouTubers (including WoBo, who started as DayZ YT'er) made a lot of views with guides on performance alone, because of its poor performance. I could make the original Super Mario run 60 FPS as well - and that's how 7D2D looks like as well.. But anyway, you're (yet again) trying to start petty arguments without thinking anything of it through. You need to work on your anger management, or you'll get into trouble again. Take this as well-intended advice. -
DayZ Launcher Won't open! SOS Can't play DayZ at all! :,,((

One topic will do, don't create another one! DayZ Mod is available on Steam, nothing else is needed. -
That's why there's different hives: Public / Private. You can have an indefinite amounot of characters - or savegames how you call them.

If you already assume it has been asked, then take a look at the search-function for the DevTracker. It's rather useful.

This is the first time I have heard about YouTubers being forced to take down videos. If you have any more knowledge on that than me, please do send me a PM (German possible, as you seem to be quite German, judging by the links you built in by copy / pasting the translations). -

Go read the rules or you're out quicker than you can say "Vanilla DayZ"...
-
Those are faces you can apply to your character. Any player can do that, as long as the server admin of that specific server allows that. Skins are way more compley than those faces, however.
