I voted no/none, but i kinda see your point.. IF and only IF it ever gets implemented (which i highly doubt), I would hope they did it like this: Just like blood types, random background knowledge about certain subjects would be instilled in the character at spawn. You would have to do certain actions to test who your character is. As if youre on a mission of self discovery; as if youre trying to recover from amnesia. Perhaps your character knows about poisonous berries. It would display on screen as poisonous, where it otherwise would not if you were spawned without this knowledge. EXAMPLE: Botanist Survivor: This berry is poisonous. it would be extremely dangerous to ingest this. Side effects include rapid heart rate and difficulty breathing. Death can occur within minutes of ingestion. Uneducated Survivor: This berry is red with white dots on it. I never ate this berry before and dont know if it is safe to eat. If the uneducated survivor survives eating the poisonous berry OR if he find a Guide on Berry Safety, he learns. Every time he sees that berry again, the Botanist Survivor message displays instead of the Uneducated Survivor message.

confirmed, that same thing happened to me.. a guy trolled me and told me to put the bag on him, he moved out the way right before i finished and it went on me instead. Luckily he was cool enough to kill me.

I tried out the experimental version a few days ago. Today i tried to log in with the experimental version and heard there was an update. So i switched Opted out of experimental version. The game removed the experimental version and im still on version 30.11. How do i force steam to update mine to 32.xx? EDIT: I set Auto updates to HIGH PRIORITY. I checked the integrity of my game cache. All looked good. Im still stuck on 30.11 SOLVED: RESTART STEAM :D

someone had a post earlier about paintballs and it made me think of those paintball guns with pepper-balls. Basically long-rage pepper spray.

police have a non-lethal / riot control version of paintballs that are filled with pepper spray. A paintball gun with pepper-balls would be great. Shoot them at someone and their vision gets messed up, their run speed slows, and they cough a lot. Hindering their ability to flee effectively.

Damaged Items/Bags - Reduction of usable Slots

Badly damaged backpacks should also be accessible to other players while on an alive persons back. I would think that a badly damaged backpack would have a stuck zipper that cant close all the way or a large gaping hole that you can reach your hand into. you got my beans. -
no, but private hives (which they might introduce) would give you the sensation of this.

RIVERS PLEASE. You got my beans. Althought, the river would probably have to go through the outside of the known map, since theres no mountains on the map to feed the river large amounts of water. -

MREs would be a great item to put in an overrun civilian refugee camp set up by the military. And am i correct to think that this post suggests that i can eat each part of the mre separately? Because that would be amazing!

i want to put random mushroom teas in identical water bottles and play Mushroom Roulette with other survivors. WIll i get the normal mushroom, the pyschodelic one, or the one that makes my heart stop? Mushroom Identification manual please. sidenote: Would Psychoactive mushrooms make people look like zombies??????

heres the deal.. if people on the internet have the ability to bring their own creation into the game, then within hours of implementation, there will be phallic objects and ponies everywhere. lets let the devs give us random patches and or designs and colors to choose from -- if they chose to implement this.

offline mode is fine with me as long as your items are kept separate from the hive. althouhg i dont see the point really, this game was picked up as a multiplayer, Singleplayer would only take away from the production of the game it was meant to be.

i have always been an advocate to the idea of a major river to cross and/or navigate. We need rivers, bridges, tunnels, foot bridges, small boats, etc.. (multiple crossing points to prevent excessive bottlenecks). Would be cool if the river actually moved you down stream as well. great for moving far and fast, but risky.

This suggestion not only makes you try to survive; But if you try not to survive, then you might get the following: Survivor: "Hey can you kill me?" Bandit: "not another KOS request." Surivior: "Please.. i need to respawn at a new location!" Bandit: "LOL, Have fun running." Result: an additional way to lower KOS's

Persistent item storage, SHTF style buriable tube cache

No persistence. The items must die when you die. You shouldnt be able to die and have stashes of pistols all around to dig up right when you respawn. As you mentioned, this seems like it would have to be server specific. I say you make a hole (2x3) and you can put anything inside the hole. things like: cans and water containers stay safe, while fruits and such will go bad very fast. Ammo and weapons in the dirt for extended periods can damage the ammo / clip. clothes and medical supplies are instantly damaged 2 levels lower if buried without being in a container. a yellow container can protect your items from all bury damage. Counter-measures to buried items: Visual spot on ground (as mentioned) Metal detectors (bartteries required). BTW your poll lacks optioins.. I vote 2x3. So i didnt vote. I dont like 2x6 and i dont think the idea is a troll. -

since you brought up doors and locks in the same thread.. Why not have most houses have locked doors by default (server restart). And its up to the survivors to force their way in in order to be able to loot. Unlocked doors would likely been have looted already, but not necessarily since locked doors would be random. How to unlock doors. Break door window to unlock inside (if applicable) = medium sound + small risk of injury. melee the door open = medium sound (per hit) + slower entry shoot the lock = high sound + potential ricochet (constant bleeding injury) jiggle the handle = low sound + low possibility of success. -
Fence sounds, and other sounds like it, need to be implemented as a player sound too, not just an ambient sound at random.
