Purchasing a server. Need a little help.
(OCN)Vortech replied to piemanpm's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Oh yeah, no surprise honestly.. -
OP make sure to submit the actual text logs to the Community Ban List (CBL) so everyone can benefit (https://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/issues/entry'>https://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/issues/entry). More here: https://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/

Purchasing a server. Need a little help.
(OCN)Vortech replied to piemanpm's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Bring your own Instance ID wherever you go (https://support.dayzmod.com/cart.php?a=confproduct&i=0). Once you tie an instance ID to an IP it will most likely be permanent as the DayZ team NEVER seem to answer ID IP transfer tickets. The importance here is that you control the ID instead of the host, some hosts even require this. That server you mentioned isn't ideal for a few reasons. DayZ benefits from clock speed rather then number of cores, the server can only really user 2x cores at a time. As far as memory goes the server can be set to allocate 2GB of RAM but it only uses roughly 1.5GB per server instance. As for bandwidth be cautious of unlimited/unmetered, figure 750GB-1TB per server instance to be on the safe side. Ideally look for hosts running 08 R2 Web as it is less expensive per month but don't split hairs over this. You're not limited to game server hosts so look around for a configuration that lends itself to both DayZ and your combined wallet well. -

You're clearly off on the right path.. As a representative of a host you should consider the effect your "opinion" may have. Regardless if you reply was based on your self-serving opinion, it was misleading "those extra resources will go unused" and you employed scare tactics " the cost can double very easily". I'd say you're guessing wrong, I tend to try to help others out.. You could have saved yourself the trouble "Specifically a VDS can be many things as the definition is dictated by the host".. I guess you missed that. You may throw those terms around loosely but I assure others do not. A proper VDS can fill the gap between a VPS and a dedicated box in multiple respects. This thread doesn't revolve around you, I thought it an appropriate time to inform the OP. Every week we have another new VPS host or two so it wasn't anything personal. It's on the consumer to do their research and choose the right host for them. -
Hacker on CA 21 [xf] magikh0e, [xf] sluth0e
(OCN)Vortech replied to Mooseyfate's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Confirmed these two visited us on one of our servers back on 8/4/12. In our encounter with them sluth0e was confirmed cheating at the time, magikh0e was always there though. The user sluth0e was killed, teleported back, bombed a player, went invisible, and then killed another player. Worth mentioning [xf] has a server of their own US 2017, so I'd recommend staying away from it as they both seem to call it home and Sluth0e is an admin. -

While I respect you're running a business lets not mislead people or employ scare tactics. Performance isn't the only differentiating factor and resource utilization/allocation is on the customer (ie. don't buy what you don't need). Also, to clarify a VDS and VPS are similar but not the same. Specifically a VDS can be many things as the definition is dictated by the host so educate yourself as a consumer before you make a purchase. When it comes to any hosting you often get what you pay for. As for DayZ hosting there are lots of fly-by-night new game servers hosts popping up every week so use caution. -

I'd recommend a dedicated/VDS over a VPS, if your budget allows for such a thing. -
Be sure to submit everything to the Community Ban List (CBL) so everyone can benefit (https://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/issues/entry'>https://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/issues/entry). On the helo crash watch the execution order before passing it off (http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/80738-psa-cheaters-now-spoofing-bis-effects) as legit. Always better safe then sorry if you have doubts submit it to the CBL as it requires a number of these execution to actually be banned now. Yes, createvehicle.txt ;) There are more common entries and you'll become familiarized with them very shortly. https://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/

BEC scheduler if you have the proper hosting arrangement (http://ibattle.org/install-and-configure/setting-up-the-scheduler/). Like the other members have mentioned, send out global messages minutes before, lock, shutdown, insta-lock on restart to ensure sync, unlock. With scheduler you can automate this process as well as benefit from BEC in general.

There it is. Whoever picks up the development please post accordingly or msg me if you get a chance. -
DaRT - A Lightweight DayZ (and ArmA) RCon Tool (v2.1 | 11/10/2015)
(OCN)Vortech replied to domistyle's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
BEC is it's own program (http://ibattle.org) and it should be installed by every admin. Yes, NFOServers is great. -
Are these legitimate bannable offenses?
(OCN)Vortech replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Make sure to submit everything to the Community Ban List (CBL) so the community benefits as well. (https://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/issues/entry) -

Attn: Admins. You must start logging MedBoxes in your logs!!!!
(OCN)Vortech replied to Donkamints's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Confirmed http://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/issues/detail?id=535 We've always logged all boxes, this just became the flavor of the week. I'd also recommend everyone log goats too. -
Yeah np, just download all three of those and place them in your BattlEye directory. Then either restart your server or reload events and scripts while live. Once they begin logging you'll see *.log files there which you can scan and find cheaters executing scripts on your server.

USVehicleBox_EP1 is ban worthy, submit that to the CBL http://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/issues/entry The other stuff is either desync or the player is duping. The big thing with explosives is to watch the timestamp and check the number against your *.rpt log, sometimes it can benefit you.
-
Awesome start, welcome! Instead of maintaining a thread here submit all your findings to the Community Ban List (CBL) http://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist that way everyone benefits!

PM me your GUID, I'll see if I can help.

Hacker GUID for other admins to ban with log proof:
(OCN)Vortech replied to lewisuk's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
No bee, I just don't like how a few people spam it shamefully everywhere. Kinda cheapens it IMO, poor judgement, and poor representation. I'm actually all for it, I think it's a solid concept. I just wish you guys would be honest with people. That bs line about due to the failure of the CBL our community was started was an outright lie. I don't Jens or anyone who contributes/participates to it would appreciate that. You misrepresented that community in an attempt to direct people to it. Worse off at the expense of the CBL which is a real community resource. Anyhow we're off topic, hopefully admins utilize every tool at their disposal. -
Theory on a way to detect bypass users! Please comment.
(OCN)Vortech replied to (OCN)Vortech's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I'm working with one of our communities developers on this as we speak! :) I'm sure the dev will inform everyone after we've tested the theory. BEC and BE are two different things. I think their ping is handled by the ArmAII server and not BE itself. I say this because While the players I mentioned were not in any of my filter logs I could see them online in DaRT and their pings. I wish I had thought of trying to list them in traditional RCON :/ I was told you won't see them if you list players. -

I'll just leave this here :) http://everythingfunny.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/1510.jpg I'd make a final post directing users to the CBL and continue to post your bans there. -
Hacker GUID for other admins to ban with log proof:
(OCN)Vortech replied to lewisuk's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Oh please spare us, any tool used to identify cheaters will be subject to criticism. Out of the 500+ admin submissions only recently a couple have been overturned, which is a good thing. The submissions are based on the output of the filters we're provided which are constantly evolving, thus the bans are only as good as the tools. A private forum of unorganized admins in a back closet isn't even a comparison to a rep based ban collective maintained by devs in their spare time. Any admin worth their salt knows who Jens is and appreciates all the hard work he puts in to assist us. You and other other guy who spam that URL on these forums are so pompous. IMO you guys would be best served staying over on that forum, you just can't help but embarrass yourselves here. -

(OCN)Vortech replied to lewisuk's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
It isn't private, it's just the best way for administrators to organize. The CBL is for admins to exchange bans/GUIDs, every administrators first stop should be the CBL. The group in your signature is your preferred method for administrators to communicate. -

You have a very basic understanding to internet security and rights. This is a private forum for a game you choose to play, you have no more rights to privacy then they choose to allow you. While I''m all for privacy, transparency, and all things warm & cuddly.. We admins have a job to do.
