UPDATED DAILY: I'm Issuing a Warning to Any Snipers
[email protected] replied to ZombieSpecialist's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Snipers and Bandits are completley different things. but I still understand your point of view none the less. Though to point out what I'm stating here: I see bandits as people who are either grouped or solo and move on to kill players for their loot. Snipers are people who, like you mentioned, people who sit out in a ghillie and most likely an M107 or AS50 as their weapon to basicly kill any player they get in sight of their scopes. now while this is an ability to do so in game.. it's not what I would call being PART OF THE GAME I mean.. if you'd be in a zombie apocalypse. would you seriously be one of those idiots who decides to find themselves a long range weapon and a ghillie suit (which would be pretty muhc impossible in reality.) and sit out in the wilds to kill people that happen to be in range of your weapon? How is that in ANY way part of surviving a zombie apocalypse. these people are basicly making this game something like BF3 or Call of Duty. I'm sure allot of people won't agree with me.. but hopefully others do agree with me. so yeah, I stand a 100% with this guy. as what he says. 99% of the snipers that find place around Elektro and Cherno are basicly grim reapers, who are just out there to kill any player that moves into town without any proper reason other than making a killcount for themselves and ruining allot of people's days. -
Lol perhaps a good example of bandit-ery. Found it rather low to do so because you were too scared to shoot at a moving target that was able to take you out aswell. But hell that was one heck of a display of betrayal. killing those lot in the hangar and just doing the damn thing over again in no less than 1 minute to some other poor guy xD but I suppose it was a form of advantage. I was honestly expecting that group of 4 that entered the Industrial warehouse to shoot the two of you. but I suppose they also ended up meeting allong the way instead of being pre-made. any pre-made group would've shot most likely.

Man.. and I thought snipers were bad people. that is just plain nasty. My condolences. I've never bothered nor found a chopper myself but I already know it can be difficult to find it even when server hopping. not to mention about getting it fixed aswell.

It was ridiculous how they were trying to convince you.. and themselves, that they weren't doing anything "wrong". though the fact they even tried to commune was pretty odd. it's a shame that allot of games experience the whole hacker problem at some point. Though as far counting for myself. I've only ended up being killed by a script hacker that teleported every player to it's location where he actually watched everyone shoot each other. but other than that. nothing at all. not to mention it was heavily crowded at that time, believe there were 38 players.. I usually play in servers with a maximum of 10 players. or end up being with more due to players joining in time. so I'm assuming hackers are tempted to join heavy pop servers. or for that matter. hackers who are just out there to kill everyone out of their own misery. There are probably plenty of other hackers that take place in low pop servers to spawn everything they need and kill players in subtle ways. But as for now. we should all patiently wait for the stand alone which will hopefully be armed with a tighter security.

So last night I continued my lonely journey of despair, agony and sometimes, satisfaction. I was running allong the forest line near Kamyshovo and decided to scout the area for any spawn killers by taking place on a rock with my CZ close to the western end of town. unfortunatley this was a great mistake, as I ended up falling to my virtual death as I glitched between the rocks. After respawning 2 times and failing to retrieve my gear as my body was stuck inside the rock, I decided to move up north allong the eastern coast. I ended up in the northern part of Solnichy where I saw a bandit skinned player step onto a bicycle. needless to say I start hacking into his face as these gifts of heaven are something I'd dearly want myself! little did I know is that I couldn't damage him with my hatchet when he was on the bicycle. Appearently he wasn't alone and soon I found myself being hunted by a seaweed monster with a M107 pointed at my face. after out-manouvering his shots for a while and helping him get some new Zedly friends, I ended up getting shot after being 10 meters away from him with my hatchet and a group of Zeds who were all looking for some quality time with this guy. Being somewhat upset, I respawn and make my way back with an Enfield I found on the way there. After nearing Solnichy once more, I get kicked off the server, a restart I assume. I waited for the server to be back on and rejoined. knowing the name of the bicycle bandit. I noticed in the player list that they hadn't returned themselves. I head to the place where I saw them before pushing up some daisies. no one was there, however I found the bicycle and an old hatchback filled with an M24 with sufficient mags, a PDW SD, gas and plenty of beans. it only needed an engine to be usable. I decided to look for an engine inside the nearest Tec warehouse. while not expecting to find one anytime soon, I see an engine laying on the floor at the first pile of loot. /succes. And well that's how I ended up stealing my 2nd vehicle. I assume allot of people have a passionate hate for car thieves but oh well.. I couldn't just leave it there after finding an engine! besides I left the bicycle for them.. fair trade no?

Server restart advantage
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ohhh well it's cool. just got killed at the airfield due to first breaking my leg by vaulting over debris and then after patching up getting shot by some dude while there were only 2 other people in the server. ffffuuuu-- -
Server restart advantage

Thought as much.. too bad though. I usually find out that the servers I find vehicles in being empty when I return. but oh well, it makes sense. thanks for ze info! -
Server restart advantage
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I know I know..! I regret it somewhere that I just didn't take the bicycle but I was still stuck up with my start backpack and the car had plenty of room so yeah.. mobile backpack ftw! PS: I'm not well educated on the whole vehicle part.. I stole a tractor this one time in my first days of playing allong with a friend and we then bumped into a van with even more shit in there! but yeah I saved the van and got back the next day (do know that we hid the van somewhere in the forests) the next day it was gone and so was the bear trap we put next to the driver seat.. so perhaps a server restart that ate it all or I'm doing something wrong. I also have no idea if I'm going to find the car next to me when I log in soon. Also if you save a vehicle. it's only saved to the server you're in right? -
Boy That Escalated Quickly

Darn I should try out Lingor island or any of the other maps out some more. though the ambient noises (the bloody animals, god I have no idea what animals even cause these noises.) they bother me as I don't know if they can be turned of seperatley. afraid it's combined in the Sound effects. But hell! nice struggle you got into, and not to mention, gotten out of alive. it's something I rarelly experience myself. I usually get a bullet popped through my head before having a chance to engage a group while running solo. kudos! -
Question to Rocket: Gun nerfing
[email protected] replied to tommes's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well I assume these cases would be involving small firearms but I don't really know. I know that they use .50 Desert Eagles actively in Isreal to actually knock out car engines. so I assume it would definetly stop any person from being able to stand after getting hit. The Revolver and M1911 in DayZ are both loaded with .45 bullets which are highly comparable to the power of a .50 DE. even the 9mm pistols such as the M9 and G17 should be able to disable a person with a direct hit to the torso. But from how it's feeling now when shooting someone in DayZ with a sidearm, it's a bit like this. -
Question to Rocket: Gun nerfing
[email protected] replied to tommes's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It seems that people are way too busy with the whole balance of the weaponry in DayZ while it's supposed to be a survival game. this does show how more of a PvP focused game it's becomming which is a shame. But before turning out to be a hypocrit, I must admit that I am more wary about other players rather than the Zeds themselves which is supposed to be the main subject of the game/mod to begin with. Now while I agree with the topic that handguns are more comparable to the power of a BB gun, I can see wisdom in why they have gotten nerfed, it's mainly due to how common most handguns are. you're bound to find a sidearm in minutes when starting out near a proper town or village. I'd recon that making sidearms less common would justify it being unnerfed or making certain powerfull sidearms less common such as the M1911 and the Revolver. sidearms are currently more a tool to disable Zeds when you're carrying a gun in your primary slot rather than a hatchet. When I'm in Cherno or Elektro or any other lifethreatening zone, I always have my primary gun out rather than a sidearm. Hell I'd even prefer charging at a player with a hatchet instead of taking a shot with any sidearm, unless you are certain of making proper headshots. the consquences of shooting a gun is already hazardous enough. giving away your location to players and Zeds. even if you succed in hitting this player you'll most likely only caused him to lose the ability to experience colors. Now to turn the entire story. what Rocket said about weapons and other resources gaining artibutes seems like a great idea. giving items conditions and such gives me the idea that these items will require more attention of players. What I started to imagine for example is that you'd need to inspect food and drinks to determine if these things are safe to consume and what not.. may that be a can of food being dented would mean it's possible to cause botulism. or something like that. And to finish my odd rant. I'd suggest something like houses being barred or locked but having the ability to be breached. this would require a crowbar or a hatchet or anything else that makes it physicly possible to remove domestic obstacles. Naturally I would recommend this for locations and buildings that contain loot with high value. or in addition to the above. containing items that have decent artibutes. Now during this process risks of being mauled by Zeds or shot by bandits would increase as I imagine this making noise. systematicly attracting the undead and logicly gaining the attention of players. this would making looting a more thrilling and rewarding experience. Well that's about it..! -
Massive armory in Barrack
[email protected] replied to landwarrior tactical's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lol I remember having something alike in a grocery store.. there was this gigantic pile of loot .. it was filled with 7 makarovs some random ammo, and naturally TONS of makarov mags! oh the horror. -
I'd recommend not buying it if you are planning to play this alone.. it's a relentless game that can take, whatever you achieved in like a day, away in a split second. may that be a player shooting you, being overrun by zombies, falling to your death or a bug that decides that breaking your leg is a proper way to punish you for entering a building in a wrong way. Playing with other people makes the game much easier to enjoy. may that be manhunting or surviving. it's a unique experience in any way due to the horrific reality that anything can kill you and there are no exceptions. so yeah in any case it takes a thick skin to withstand the merciless enviroment of DayZ. but so far for me, I did not regret buying it even though at times, I thought FUCK IT after being long range killed by some bandit. but it's something you'll have to accept, biting the bullet here literally and metophoricly

I know someone who has a laptop just like that and she can't even run The Sims on it without her virtually created family suffering from Parkinson.

Bit of a late drop in but, Many thanks to the people who got me back on my feet after almost bleeding out at 1.8k blood last night in Dolina. (I have truly no idea how I wasn't carrying any bandages inlands.) Kudos to Element 47 and Nurse Kobra for saving my sorry bleeding ass! -
How to gear up on respawn while avoiding zombies?
[email protected] replied to ThuggleS's topic in New Player Discussion
Well allot of people mentioned it before but when I freshly respawn I always make way for nearby industrial zones, you're bound to find an axe, and in my opinion it's the best weapon to get rid of zombies, as it's silent and a one hit kill. though not as effective against entire trians of zombies ofcourse. At first I was playing at a slow pace aswell, trying to avoid zombies completley till I get a weapon. but it would take a long time before you find a place to loot and to find out it only has tin cans and makarov mags. so after dying plenty of times and playing for a few days I always start with a nothing-to-lose mentality at early spawn. I'm sure there are people out there that despise that attitude but hey.. I don't feel like repeating the same process all over again in a timespawn of an hour before getting somewhere. But yeah other than that. when you decide to enter more populair areas like Cherno or Elektro, you must at all times avoid shooting zeds. or even avoid zeds entirely because they'll cause players to be alerted to your pressence. unless you're confident and are looking for a challenge ofcourse. shooting in such areas means a difference between life and death. for example, this one time I entered Stary Sobor to quickly check out the Militairy tents. I ended up almost shooting a zed that was being obstructive but decided not to. 10 seconds later I hear someone shooting at the other side of the tents, basicly where I started searching, I end up shooting the guy before he shot me as I knew he was there. so the moral is that if I did shoot the zombie I would've been the one biting the dust. Anyhow good luck with your further adventures in DayZ! -
''Don't shoot! Friendly! Please!''
[email protected] replied to Jackftw's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Now that is the top notch example of being screwed over in the game. I don't blame you one bit for changing your standards. Hah but yeah, every player is somewhat different, sometimes drasticly even. like this one time where I announced I was friendly just before entering the Church in Cherno, I got shot a split second after. was unconscious, and bleeding, the guy apoligized and gave me a blood transfer! It was the least I expected after entering Cherno. he let me pick up a weapon he dropped for me and to break the whole Happy ending cliché looking story. we both got shot by a sniper when we made our way to the nearby fire station. Though yeah, short story short, your post sums up how relentless the game and its players can be but if you try hard enough you can also make positive encounters with other players. -
Some say it's haunted, some believe that zombies rise from the very dirt beneath your feet as you tread its grounds and others assume it's homed by bandits who reached their peak of insanity, pinning the faiths of sole survivors who dare to near the encampent of the tower itself, taking their lives in ways where one shudders to imagine what these methods were, as people who live to tell the tale say that the forests are littered with body parts. But I tell ya, it's a cursed place where your greatest fears come alive as they watch your every move fromout the shadows as you draw closer to the tower. This one day I logged out as I took shelter in a deer stand outside of the forest's edge that surrounds this hellish place (greatest mistake ever.) As I decided to log back in the next day to resume my epic quest of pain, regret and sometimes satisfaction. It was in a server where only 4 other players were currently ingame. I got shot in the back fromout the forest when I decided to leave the tower. So either I've been the Bad Luck Brian for a day as I got shot by a random player (who is now enjoying my Ghillie suit and M107.) or something else was pulling the cords of destiny. you tell me. What I do know is that I won't be going there any day soon.
