Accused of hacking by OWN TEAM! due to this video..
[email protected] replied to evil.piggeh's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
I have had these set backs aswell from time to time but it has been in a matter of disadvantage mostly xD this one time I got synced out after looting an M249 not too long ago. I log back in didn't had the gun anymore and it wasn't on the spot either.. so yeah. can be quite annoying. -
I was about to say.. but pretty much half of the people here already mentioned it. Dying in DayZ is supposed to give you a big penalty. while I can imagine the frustration behind it when being in a clan war. I'd be awfully discouraged to buy the standalone if they had a feature to set a home location in the game. in my eyes that is complete bull and would ruin the entire concept. I actually like the fact that you'd spawn like at least 5km away from your corpse at any give time. being able to reloot your body in general is something that troubles me already, sure it is convinient to be able to retrieve your loot when you happen to be close by and it would be highly frustrating when you couldn't just when you had a character with high end gear but hey, what would otherwise be the penalty of dying if you'd be straight back to your character and be able to reloot it? being able to store your stuff and gear in tents and vehicles should be beneficial enough if you ask me. PS: I'm side tracking here because you probably are aiming to be wanting to get back to the action rather than just being able to reloot your corpse.

Need NVG heres a Trick!
[email protected] replied to The Bean Marine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As for the whole morals behind the video tweaking.. I'd say it is somewhat wrong but you truly cannot see shit when you're in a night server and there's no visible moon above your head. I must admit I used it aswell when it was actually usefull, they nerfed it down allot quite some time ago I believe. it doesn't make much of a difference from what I've remembered last times. but I rarely play on night servers now anyway.. unless I get sick of the zeds comming for me from miles away. I do remember when I used the brightness tweaking back in TES: Oblivion.. it really felt like cheating at times because the regular setting made it quite hard to navigate in dungeons but not entirely impossible or anything.. turning up the brightness just made it feel like every dungeon suddenly had some kind of technical evolution and invested in placing fluorescent light bulbs. -
I hope they make a game like this in the Fallout universe
[email protected] replied to electroban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The concept certainley is, but Fallout 3 (as I assume you're referring to 3) is unique also due to its engine and that engine is nowhere capable of rendering a large open world with multiplayer options. it's unstable in the part of being synchronized with your actions, the engine is completley developed for singleplayer. There are some multiplayer mods out there for Fallout, Oblivion and Skyrim. But I believe those are still not fully operational yet and I have no idea how that works with the immersion of questing and what not.. But if in the near future something like this will be pulled off succesfully, I'll be set for life with this game! -
DayZ is a much better game with side chat enabled.
[email protected] replied to cheezitschrist's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well you could see the side channel as a big radio channel so basicly people could use it to gain intel on players' whereabouts while remaining silent, while others attempt to communicate with other friendly players. I've experienced the side-chat being treacherous but I also ended up playing with 3 other people this one time, they picked me up with a humvee and a huey and we had quite some fun (Takistan). I also got into a group of 4 people in a different server (Lingor), we all started from scratch and basicly teamed up eventually for some time, no backstabbing afterwards (I had one weird as experience however at the end of this trip with this one other guy who remained after the others 3 left.) Though yeah I'm sure I've gotten myself killed a few times by using the side-chat aswell. but I do understand why they removed it early on with the whole immersion problem. the whole radio idea sounds awesome however! -
Post your IRL Survival Gear/Outfit!

Well that's about it really..! but the range is quite nice, perhaps not as much if zombie blood is contagious with eye / mouth contact. -
Zombieless Servers
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I only ended up in a Lingor server this one time where there were barelly any zombies just a few spawns in total I believe.. 10 players and the monitor was showing 19 zombies at its max.. I honestly didn't like it at all xD encountered 3 zombies in the hour I was playing in that server. -
How do you control your DayZ Rage?
[email protected] replied to Derpy_Hooves (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hmmm well I haven't had big rage moments with DayZ. I only tend to get frustrated and annoyed when I can't lose the zeds of my tail when I don't want / can't take em down. and end up bleeding by one hit, or in other cases.. being tickled a few times and ending up unconcious by one loner zombie while in other cases I get mauled by a pack and nothing major happens. But all in all, the rage meter with DayZ is fairly low. When I'm playing standard FPS' games I tend to get angry when I'm having a really bad match while I know I can do better so I tend to 'tag' my desk once in while (no wonder the thing is rattling nowadays.) But once in a while I end up slashing up some fruit or water bottles with my katana which is also a great steam valve to get rid of some pressure! I've moved on out of the complete rage zone in the last couple of years however. I remember kicking my little brothers bed partly in half this one time when I completley lost it when I was playing CoD on the Xbox some time ago.. damn I didn't knew I was capable of breaking a hardwood sided bed. Nowadays I feel really.. REALLY stupid about myself when I think back of those times xD it's just a game.. but heck, the old primal instincts just tend to crawl out of your skin when you're at it. -
Female DayZ players, lets talk and ask questions.
[email protected] replied to KatieKillz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Going back to the topic itself. I wasn't expecting any feminine activity here with all the competitive rage and hatred going on with some threads. but then again, like angelomnipotent said. I'm assuming that the amount of female players on DayZ is rather slim due to the genre itself, I do believe that the amount of female gamers in general are growing aswell but as far as I recall meeting female players, this was usually on MMO's that I played through the years. But then again, DayZ isn't as socially build as MMO's. you are bound to talk and cooperate in those games allot more to begin with so you'll find out allot more about your fellow players there. though there are servers out there with side channels. most people will commune by typing rather than verbally engaging the side channel (not to mention how it's occasionaly not allowed) I expect allot of girl gamers chosing the male character anyhow due to the whole clothing issue aswell. even when I encounter a female character in DayZ i'm not expecting it to be a girl gamer. ontop of that, I still thinks it's odd and disturbing when guys roll female characters, especially in MMO's. as you try to make a connection to your character in-game. but I assume thats more for the fun out of it.. or that fact they can control a character that has pixelated boobies! -
Kicked out of heli for "teleporting" ???!?!?!
[email protected] replied to shatter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well then I have no clue. perhaps the other heli's were (most likely) owned by the server owner and friends. and they just expected you to be hacking as they didn't reqognize you being capable of having a chopper.. that or trichome was right and it was a butthurt admin who just saw you flying around with one that he wanted to have for himself. -
Kicked out of heli for "teleporting" ???!?!?!
[email protected] replied to shatter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Did you fix this one a private hyve? I assume the admin only mentioned the log saying you were travelling way above the usual speed for a player on foot and was too lazy to realize you were in a chopper or something. Still, that really sucks man :/ I would've rage-quited the game for a few days if this happened to me xD -
Secondary Weapons
[email protected] replied to Rick the Survivor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
G17 for sure. it shoots like a charm. has plenty of bullets per mag. has a low recoil and the ironsight is really nice. Oh yeah I almost forgot about the flashlight! I'd take a PDW if it has its own mags lying around and store my G17 away. but I wouldn't use the PDW to fire my G17 mags because I rarelly decide to shoot with it automaticly. unless I have the actual PDW mags for them. next to that I think the ironsight for the PDW is terrible. -
‘CoD Kiddie’ Analogy Regarding PvP Is Entirely Wrong
[email protected] replied to Trizzo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think most people refer to a mentality rather than actually assuming they are Call of Duty players when they use the term "CoD kiddies" And over the months it's been taken over by other forum users that could potentialy rage out when they got killed by a hill sniper. basicly calling them CoD kiddies because they just shoot you for the kill rather than taking your possesions. But still to the whole origin of this thread. it's basicly looking like what Activision tried to make the game look like, that it's about teamplay in certain game modes. but with my experiences in the Call of Duty series, it's allot of things but teamplay is not part of it what so ever.. NEVER. people even rage at each other for kill stealing and they consider the rest of their team useless most of the time. it's all about you and no one else. your team is basicly just cannon fodder and otherwise obstacle material when they happen to be in your way. though frankly I did enjoy the game at times because the gameplay is smooth and feels right but yeah. it's a lone wolf game at most times. though I'm sure there are contests out there or just other organized games going on amongst clans. So yeah I think that's where the whole term came from, though half of the people who come up with the term are just being angry rather than actually aiming towards CoD Players or blindly doing so when they are actually aiming towards those players. blinded rage I say! -
I tend to experience this allot aswell.. when you try to lose the zeds in a building and you want to smoke em out they just keep comming as I'm believing that when you make follow up shots, the sounds get amplified. as the zeds have the AI of usual Arma 2 Npc's I guess it raises suspicion per shot in a short period of time. Like.. when you'd lose one shot, with a makarov for example. most of the zeds will lose interest because they lost track of the sound. when you'd fire a whole mag out, the amount of zeds being attracted pile up rather quickly. Though yeah it can be rather random at times. so I ain't sure about this theory of mine.

Are Choppers needed in DayZ?
[email protected] replied to Jex =TE= (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hahaha, oh this community is so full of love and compassion! it is unbelievable.. it's gone to hell since .. I don't know.. the 5th post? it turned from a suggestion to a caged monkey fight where they throw poop at each other till they're all out of supply. Uhm well.. I actually already posted my thoughts about the helicopter / huey in Chernarus. So yeah.. though the thread has been quite amusing none the less! -
Is there any reason why....
[email protected] replied to BlksnshN's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I believe I had this aswell. but it's not too much of a problem for me because i'd keep reloading till all my mags were like 1/3 of their ammo. though I'm not sure if it's supposed to happen like this -
Are Choppers needed in DayZ?
[email protected] replied to Jex =TE= (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well well.. as far concerning the whole rage inbetween.. I'll ignore all of that. I'll be honest that I haven't flown a chopper in Chernarus at all yet. I play solo most of the time and fixing one on my own is probably close to impossible (for me that is.) I've flewn in a Huey as a gunner in Takistan. which is more of a vehicle fun map or.. die out in the ass of the map.. but yeah I only then noticed (might also be due to the lack of fog in the map) that you can scout out the map with little to no effort. Now speaking for myself, I was enjoying it but at the same time I noticed how much of advantage it gives you (and your team) not to mention that as a team you already are more of a threat to others. but in Chernarus, I've rarelly encountered Heli's up in the air. though when I hear one comming it does give you that kind of excitement of danger as they might be out there to kill you or they're just flying about picking their friends from the coast. I can imagine how bandits would love to take out a chopper or try and hijack it even. so in some aspects I think it has it's home in DayZ but it can greatly surpress other players who have no proper gear to fight against them. Also considering a heli crew can have a team on the ground to smoke out the people they've spotted from the heli. So yeah back to the whole OP's statement. perhaps there could be a way to reduce the visibility of interactive objects (players and vehicles etc.) when you're gaining altitude. it's probably absurd but it might be something. other than that. they could replace the huey with a more civil kind of helo. with minor visibility to the ground. being able to fly across the map in moments is advantage enough I'd say. so I guess it would become more of a transportation helo rather than an all around heli with multiple advantages. though I can only imagine the frustration of losing a heli to a sniper with an M107. but in this case when the heli would be replaced with something that would only serve as transportation. I'm sure you'd try to avoid crowded areas anyhow. -
Well the problem with the activity dropping is mainly due to DayZ being quite hyped when it was new and fresh. but the gameplay and experience really is for a true gamer with a thick skin. the game is relentless and allot of people who aren't used to this level of gaming probably dropped out quite fast. and alas, the people who've been terrorized by hackers add up aswell. and to join in on the CoD stereotyping, I'm sure that allot of players left that tried the game with a Deathmatch mentality. expecting to be shooting people the whole time, ending up dead due to being careless and whatnot. I've been playing less aswell myself but that's due to the fact I'm playing alone and trying some other games out at the same time. Though yeah I've been a bit sceptical about WarZ. Like mZLY said. I wouldn't have doubted trying it out if it was for free.. so I assume I'd just have to try out a beta key if anyone among my friends decided to buy it themselves. with a minimum of 20 bucks to get acces to the beta. damn all these pre-releases nowadays making people be capable of playing earlier then other fellow players who just don't have the money for it. it's getting rather lame. but oh well. I've also read some stuff about the whole ingame currency where you can possibly pay2win. they do mention that not everything is for sale that you can find in the game... while I'm not buying any of it entirely yet. I guess time will tell. perhaps it'll be alright. perhaps not.

Snipers aren't a problem. People should stop moaning.
[email protected] replied to andrewmont's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't neceseraily have a problem with snipers. the problem lies with the morals and intentions of these snipers (or at least most of them, a team sniper is something i'd encourage anyday) for my idea. allot of snipers are solo in a ghillie lying in bushes or anything else that blends in due to the ghillie suit. they take out survivors that have no chance of defending themselves (unless the sniper isn't able to hit a thing.) Now where this is going is the following: Imagine a real zombie apocalypse. you'd go into a town and there's a person out there in the surroundings with a militairy camo outfit and a bloody militairy grade rifle that no one would be able to posses just like that. His purpose is to shoot anyone that is still uninfected. bringing humanity even further to extinction. All of these hill sitting snipers have no other goal than removing every player from the grounds of Elektro and Cherno. Now unless this person is some psychopath who sees no further purpose in living and has no urge to assist the rest of humanity in rebuilding the world population.. than okay I guess that would suffice enough to have such a mentality. but next to that. possesion of these tools and ability to use all these tools would be extraordinary. So basicly in my eyes. the fact that snipers are so common is what brings allot of frustration and anger out on the forums. I don't have a major problem with snipers being there. getting killed by one is like the OP said; most likely your own fault, or well. you at least should be darn well aware of the risk you took after entering Cherno or Elektro. even if there are no more than 5 other players on the server you're in. there's still quite a chance that there's someone out there who would gladly perform a long range brain surgery on you. But yeah. the stand alone will (hopefully) make most of the militairy grade sniper rifles more rare again, that being where the duped ones will be eradicated once more but also just making them generally more rare. making the CZ something you'll be finding more often on snipers which will get back on their feet when the stand alone hits the shelves. -
Famous last words... Dayz edition
[email protected] replied to Friday N's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Me: I'm being shot -hides behind hill- Other guy: From where? Me: Believe it was comming from the airfield. he shouldn't be able to get me here (the hill was supposedly between me and the airfield.) -get shot from behind- Pbremmus has been killed. -
DayZ Stand Alone Steam Achievements (that you hope you will never see)
[email protected] replied to Toilet's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
~Should've read the manual. Crash a helicopter after being airbourne for 5 seconds. ~It's all beans here. Have every possible inventory slot filled with Cans of beans. ~They were probably at the NWAF. Stand on top of a building in Elektro or Cherno for 5 minutes without dying. (At least 10 active players in the server required.) Couldn't think of anything good or clever so far.. -
And so it slowly dawns on me... Dayz sucks.
[email protected] replied to xdarc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
While I agree with some of your negativities towards the DayZ experience, it's allot about being thick skinned. it takes quite some deaths to realize you can make the game to your likings. but that is most likely by teaming up with friends in my opinion. I noticed that when playing solo. you do tend to get lonely (at least I know I do) that is also where you start to lose interests of playing the game. -
UPDATED DAILY: I'm Issuing a Warning to Any Snipers
[email protected] replied to ZombieSpecialist's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What if we took all the snipers from elektro and cherno. and move them to the NWAF (Patrick meme.)
