I just lost a Coyote Backpack, M203 M16A2, AS50, Antibiotics, Toolbox, etc due to a hacker somehow killing everyone in the server. I'm not bitching. I'm just stating that it happens and you should get used to it. The mod is still being developed and there are bugs, just as well DayZ is absolutely pointless once you get all the best gear. The fun of it is starting over and ending up with a different loadout, ending up in a different location, etc. If you're looking to just horde stuff and never lose it then maybe Fallout 3 or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is your game and not DayZ.

I'm not really understanding why people keep thinking DayZ would/should/could/will be ported/built on a new engine. Remember guys, Rocket works for Bohemia, it wouldn't make any sense to not use their engine as it's already been built and Rocket I'm sure has no problems obtaining any licensing or what have you for it. Any improvements made to the Arma 3 engine will be based on complaints/suggestions/short comings about/of Arma 2. Plus I find parkour/freerunning to be ridiculous and it can be summed up with this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k05IUGsbSPo&feature=related

You should be a little bit more specific about what you mean there. The AK-47 is the first version of the AK and was extremely expensive to produce due to the fact that it had a milled receiver, which for those of you who don't know is basically a large bar stock piece of steel that is cut into the shape it needs to be, as opposed to the AKM which is made out of stamped thick gauge sheet metal and is essentially bent into shape. The AK-47 was expensive to produce for that reason due to the sheer amount of wasted material created when milling that would have to be melted down and reprocessed, so the AKM was introduced to cut costs, which did not effect the weapon's durability and reliability.

I've never understood why people comply with robbers. I haven't come across any, but if I did I'd start shooting immediately, you can have whatever is on my body if I'm killed, but I'm at least going to do damage/kill one of you in the process.

If DayZ was to have gulps then how would we go about drinking sodas that are in cans? can't exactly stick an open can of soda in your pack and expect it not to spill. I think the way it is now, which is to give your friend a can of soda or a canteen, have him drink and return the canteen seems pretty reasonable. -
My only objection is what is to stop a bandit who was killed by someone defending himself from reporting the innocent as a murderer? This hasn't been an issue for most of us though. We just accept this is the way DayZ is played. Why do people have such a desperate attachment to their gear? I am able to rearm in a matter of less than 20 minutes if I'm near Elektro, I make my way to Stary and if I'm feeling lucky I hit the NW Airfield barracks. After all this the game gets boring and we (a small group of friends and I) End up being killed, but the fun is in starting over and finding gear again, it becomes quite boring and dull once you have the best everything because there isn't anywhere else to go.

In addition to repairing/building conventional weapons, I'd like to see a system implemented where you can use scrap metal and create homemade zip gun style firearms. I came across around 10 AKMs in a span of 10 minutes hunting around Stary. Yes, literally 10, one for each minute I was looking. -

I recall a message posted by rocket or one of the devs where they explained a disconnect timer is not possible due to the way ArmA handles connections. If this is really a huge deal for you, you should find better weapons, a 50 cal, what have you and take them out before they have a chance to disconnect i.e. element of surprise. If you're a noob who just blasts away 10 rounds of an Enfield mag in vein hopes that you'll hit someone without aiming, I feel no sympathy for you. -

None of these tests include shooting rounds and explosives at it though :V I'd like to see it still run after it's had several rounds of .308 or .50 BMG shot through the engine block.

Backpack access warning message / delay

If someone was to walk up behind you and open up your backpack, take things IRL, do you get a warning and does the person get a delay? I saw kids during my school years get robbed like that, hell I even had shit stolen out of my bag when I wasn't looking and/or had a backpack that was too large to feel what was going on. Such is life, pay more attention to your surroundings and/or find better friends to play DayZ with. -

I see a lot of threads in the suggestion section such as can you use a different game engine, or can you change this or that about vehicles, etc. Basic pointing out about what they think are short comings that could/should be improved. A lot of these questions could be avoided if people would play ArmA II/OA before hand. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging but I have around 110 hours on ArmA II, that isn't much considering I haven't had the game since it came out, but I at least know how the original game feels, plays, etc. (I purchased Arma II before DayZ was even created fyi) That and I have seen countless DayZ videos on YouTube where some new players find a helicopter or manage to repair one and end up crashing it within 5 seconds of taking off because they lack practice on ARMA. If this was the case we might actually be able to get rid of the running joke which is "So I heard that DayZ comes with this cool mil-sim mod called ArmA II" -

I agree with this. We already see currencies IRL being worthless when debt and inflation get out of control, why would anyone stand behind any currency when the world has gone to absolute shit? Unless it's things like gold/silver/precious metal coins, I think the barter system is the way to go. Either that or ammo becomes the new currency such as in Metro 2033.

This isn't all that uncommon within the ArmA community. On many servers you have to earn a rank of Major before you can pilot any aircraft; Because new players have proved time and time again that they are not able to hop in an aircraft for the first time and take off successfully without getting caught on the side of a hangar or crash into a barrier. -

In addition to what Nick said I think there's a misunderstanding on where the weapons are coming from in DayZ. We pretty much assume by the uniforms, region, etc that if Chenarus was a real country, would have been a former Soviet state which would have both donated weapons from Russia and would have produced them itself. We're not speaking about any licensed copies that are produced in the US or elsewhere, we're talking about weapons produced in the home country. Of course with other weapons like the M4, FAL, Enfield etc, we have to assume that DayZ takes place after the ArmA II conflict and what we're picking up is dropped weapons carried by US soldiers and other NATO forces. -

Have you ever played the Evolution or Domination missions on Arma II? Hell, any of them even have unlimited respawn. Looks like the negative reaction I'm getting is from people who would be barred from playing DayZ because they haven't played Arma II/OA prior. -
