Other suggestions: Drinking sea/ocean water Your suggestion: Drinking sea/ocean water Just because you have a particular way of doing it doesn't make it an entirely new suggestion, just a different execution.

Debug monitor will be gone in 1.7.3 !
Bukethead replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There had better be some other ways for us to tell what's going on with our character's body. I think of it like we all have congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis. In other words, we can't feel pain, we can't feel hunger, we can't feel thirst, and we can't feel temperature. It's as if our nerves don't work in terms of the relationship between the character and the player. We cannot feel what our character feels, and therefore have to rely on cues from the HUD and debug monitor for information. This is a seriously bad decision if there isn't some sort of better improvement and will remove a layer of immersion from DayZ. -
Please, don't make this a reality by adding any further life functions.

DayZ Commander shows you what time of day it is on the server, i.e. the lighting conditions. Be set free from your "punishment" which I think is really just a bit of ignorance.

Picks up a ballistics PDF from ar15.com Instant ballistics expert SEEMS LEGIT. I don't know what kind of an alien cyborg you are but once human flesh is cut, it does not heal and refuse instantaneously. The yawing and tumbling of a bullet rips through flesh, I don't understand how you think this isn't the case. Have you seen what 5.56 does to the human body? I sure as hell wouldn't want to be shot with it, and I don't think you would either.

What's next? A defecation and urination mod? This is DayZ, not The Sims...

Please Remove This Prop Completely
Bukethead replied to Kickinstuff13's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No, get used to it. I'd rather have static props then have a boring undecorated world. -
Wrong section.

So what you're asking for is DayZ to be transformed into this?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aokigahara

But how? What can a lone person possibly do with gold? If you were skilled in metal working, you could melt it down, and form it into bullets which seems ridiculous now but considering the circumstance, it's not that bad of an idea. However most people don't possess the skills or want to learn such things. We're speaking of barter items that have value in itself, such as ammo, water, food, etc. How does gold/silver/etc rank up with these in terms of immediate usefulness? That's what's important in a situation like this. Also I found this hilarious, I wonder if these guys are serious: http://apocalypticammunition.com/

Currency is faith based as I said. Even gold is only worth what someone will trade for it, and I'm sorry but in a circumstance like this, no one I know would in their right mind trade you something that could sustain/preserve life for a piece of metal that's absolutely useless. What can you do with a gold coin besides sell it? You're thinking something along the lines of it's worth being restored once civilization resumes, the thing is not everyone is looking that far ahead, they're more worried about the basic human needs that get them through the day to day troubles of life.
-
The need to trade does not disappear, but any currency backed by an economy rather than a precious metal (which is most now a days) are worthless if the economy collapses, which would be the case in a zombie apocalypse. This is why gold, silver and other precious metals hold their value however in this dire of a circumstance, no one in their right mind would trade you a bottle of water for a gold coin. You have to realize a failure of society and civilization means a giant step backwards into time, one circumstance of which is a return to the barter system.

It would look like this:

Yes. The only two cures for the sickness are antibiotics and death. Make sure you stay away from your buddies once you have it, because it spreads.
-
Canteen, beans, makarov, 6 makarov mags, two bandages, pain killers, morphine, and road flares.
-
I honestly doubt you even played it when the bandit skin was around, because you would have experienced the coastal bean warfare that went with spawning on the coast with actual supplies. DayZ has always been about shoot on sight.
-
You can't see someone wearing a shemagh? Maybe you need your eyes checked. Not really understanding why you're QQing if you think it's too late to fix it. Don't play the game if you don't like it. With the addition of the hero skin, there is now a way to identify someone who has at least helped other people.

I was reading another thread regarding maps and I started to think, wouldn't it make more sense to find maps in vehicles/cars than in the general/grocery store? Realistically that's where everyone I know keeps map (if they even have one) even with today's technology.
-
Well the thing is all the burnt out cars are currently of no use to anyone, they are but an obstacle that you have to avoid if you're driving. If there was a map in the glove compartment, people would at least have a reason to stop and check burnt out vehicles.

This would definitely have to be in the standalone version of DayZ. The radio communications in Arma 2 are essentially global chat that's enabled when you have a radio in your inventory. It does not cut out or is not limited by the environment around you, nor does it have a range of operation.

Much like the fallen survivor in L4D, I'm thinking zombies should occasionally have some spiffy loot on them, such as an ALICE, ACU pack, or a low level firearm such as a Makarov, shotgun, Enfield etc. It would be reasonable to think that since the zombies were at one time regular people, they would have had some sort of gear on them before they were infected, they could have been a survivor at one point and were met with an unfortunate circumstance. To a small extent this has already been done, what with some zombies having bandages, Makarov mags, beans etc in their inventory, but I'm suggesting we add in even more items to this. Keep in mind this would not be every other zombie or even every 100th zombie, I would think somewhere in the neighborhood of every 1000th or so zombie should have a decent amount of gear on them. Obviously I know nothing about how this would be implemented but I'd imagine it'd be done in such a way where it does not invalidate/replace any other current method of gear finding, it would just add another way to get gear but in a very happy accident/dumb luck sort of way (i.e. running across that rare zombie that has loot) This would give players more incentive to shoot zombies, rather than avoid them and run away. It would add an interesting new level of decision making, weighing risk with reward such as "That zombie has an ALICE pack which I need, do I shoot him and risk having an entire horde after me, or do I just forget about it and move on?" I'm also thinking the loot could be connected to the type of zombie. For example the police officer model has a holstered pistol that you cannot currently pick up, why not make it so these zombies have a Makarov in their inventory? Same could be said with military zombies, who would be likely to have an ALICE pack.

Full servers or not, you still have the chance that someone will spawn in behind you in one of the major loot locations. It's happened to my group of friends and I about ten times or so. It's not all that uncommon to go to an unpopulated server and run into someone server hopping, looking to snipe. That's besides the point though, this argument that people should only play this game one way is absolutely absurd. It comes down to the player's choice and adding a further taste of realism into the game.
