  2. Well we have the chopper. Anyone who wants it can try and get it from us but we'll be trying to get it back if it is taken. Lol.

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

I think the L85 is pretty OP no matter when you use it. Thermal is just way to easy then on top of that it also has Nightvision. The biggest issue I have is how much NVGs and Thermal take away from the theme of the game. They make it WAY too easy to survive, especially at night. Playing without nightvision is a lot more fun, even with the shit flashlight system we have now, but you can't fully enjoy it because you know other people will have nightvision and will kill you before you even know what happened. The flashlight system just needs to be improved then all thermal and Nightvision needs to be removed, except for that of the Rangefinder. More weapons with flashlights need to be added or we need to be able to get some sort of Headlamp item. We also should be able to use our starting flashlight with every secondary weapon. I also think flashlights should require batteries which could be found pretty much everywhere, as common as food.
  4. You can play however you want, just like everyone else. Some people are friendly and some aren't. My group generally won't kill-on-sight but we will defend ourselves and items. We have a public Teamspeak server setup and it's got plenty of channels you can join and chat with your friends. Here is the IP for the Teamspeak server: US23.ts3dns.com
  5. There have been some people with hacked eapons but we've gotten rid of them pretty easily. No major hacker events.
  6. Tank Traps and Barbed Wire are really common, sandbags not as much, but when you're farming loot spawns for as long as we have been you build up a major surplus of items.
  7. I setup all those defenses, purposely. The tank traps will kill server hoppers who spawn on them, they also don't interfere with grabbing the loot that spawns under them. The barbed wire is to protect us if we are farming the area for loot by controlling where other players can enter/exit the area. They still aren't anywhere near complete yet either. I don't setup the barricades just to make it impossible to enter/exit a building like some people and nobody else should either. If you want an idea of how it will look when it's finished... check out Devil's Castle. Lol.
  8. You can easily Downgrade or Upgrade with DayZ commander. It's an incredibly simple process with that program. If you encounter any issues you can add me on steam and I will try and help you sort em out.

US 23 Dallas admin. Funny stuff

    1. The OP used hacks to find our camps, while we were all offline. (We have evidence in the logs for our server, other players, etc) 2. We found his server through forum posts, joined and started looking for his camp. (Without Hacks). 3. Updates had just been released so the OP kept being kicked from his own server because of script restrictions, high ping, etc. 4. The OP shut down his server so that we couldn't continue searching for his camp while he was unable to play, because of being repeatedly kicked. (Claimed that he was waiting for his ping to "settle down") We came to the conclusion, using the evidence, that he used some sort of hack to locate and travel to our camps, proceeded to take our items to his own server by server hopping he then took our chopper and hid or destroyed it. After this he proceeded to brag about his exploits to Desync through Steam. We don't particularly care about our items being stolen or destroyed using legitimate means, it's part of the game but the OP is a pathetic script kiddie or hacker, whatever you want to call it.

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

My eyes are just hipsters, seeing in perfect color is too mainstream for them.

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

I don't agree with this because NVG/Scopes, even if they do require batteries, still defeat the purpose of playing at night. They remove all of the challenge and fear, giving them batteries is a step in the right direction but it's not enough that it would change anything. The game is supposed to be challenging and scary, NVGs and scopes remove far too much of those aspects.

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

That's how it works in real life but not in the game. The only light in-game that is bright enough to be effective in combating NVGS/Scopes from a distance is the Sun. Some times that doesn't even work, I was wearing mien during the day once and I didn't even realize it. Up close flashlights/flares can cause your NVGs to dim a bit but that doesn't help much when you've already been killed from 50m+. You will be seen/dead WAY before you even have a chance of seeing them, especially true when it comes to snipers. This is just one of many reasons they need to be removed.
  13. The way they work seems like it's going to be awesome. The forum will be flooded with tears over the lost companions but I think they will be worth it. I personally can't wait to find my 1st dog, I've already got his name picked out. I'm only curious how they will work if you travel in vehicles.

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

I agree. There should be some sort of consequence for every action. Nightvision and Thermal have no consequences. You shouldn't be able to see in the dark with no fear of being seen while doing so. My friends and I have all been playing without using our nightvision and every one of them agrees that it's a much more exciting experience. If nobody had nightvision or thermal it would be even more enjoyable, knowing nobody had such an advantage over us. They simply need to improve the flashlight system then remove Thermal and Nightvision goggles/scopes. I think it would be a major improvement to the game, especially when playing at night.

    'new' bandit skin is terribad..

Humanity increases over time, so even if you murder someone you won't be stuck with the negative effects forever, even if you never help anyone.

    'new' bandit skin is terribad..

I'm not even a bandit and I agree, the Bandit skin is fucking awful. In Standalone there will be customization and such so I wouldn't worry about skins much right now.

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

Yes, it's sorta possible to play at night without nightvision but the system needs to be improved. There are plenty of mechanics other than nightvision and since nightvision doesn't fit with the theme of difficult survival and fear, it should be removed. Balance gained by removing them is just a positive side effect. All nightvision needs to be removed except from the rangefinder. NVGs and Weapons also deter players from wanting to play at night. If they were removed and the flashlight mechanic was improved more people would stick to a server even after it got dark. The Rangefinder having nightvision doesn't have the same effect as NVGs or Nightvision weapons because they don't remove from the fear or difficulty of playing at night. They are needed by snipers to effectively play as a scout and assist with sniping at night without offering much of a combat advantage. You can't travel using the nightvision on the Rangefinder and you can't easily acquire and kill targets using only the rangefinder, you would only be aware of their presence. Thermal removes pretty much all difficulty when interacting with any hostile living creature, which is why it should just be removed. It doesn't really matter how rare it is, thermal will always produce the same effect in the DayZ universe. They are just too much, they are practically an invincibility item in the right(or wrong) hands. Balance is never and invalid reason. The game has to maintain some sort of balance or it will fall.

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

Suggestions have to be designed to maintain the theme/goal of the game, keeping it balanced for everyone and making it more fun, if they accomplish this then people who disagree and/or make suggestions are helping to improve and contribute. People who flame are obvious morons and there will always be at least one. When they flame and don't contribute to the discussion, they are wasting everyone's time and not helping to improve the game. This is a major reason 99.9% of games nowadays are so terrible, good suggestions get stamped out by morons because it's not what they personally want and they don't care about the rest of the players or the game as a whole. It's best to just ignore em. Just stick with your idea and keep it alive, listen to the things people say and contribute to them, create an actual discussion. We're all here to improve the game for everyone, not just ourselves.

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

Modular weapons are the the best way to go, it should always be like that. You find a base weapon then you find the attachments you want and built the gun you want. DayZ standalone is going to be improving a TON of the aspects that the mod has currently, the game engine is one of them.

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

The problem with hiding from players is that they can easily remove files from their game and see/shoot through whatever they want with no consequences unless an admin monitors their server like a hawk 24/7. Thermal makes that especially bad. Thermal is just completely unneeded as a mechanic in DayZ. It takes away from the fear and fight for survival which is the biggest reason it needs to be removed. I use the L85 when I go sniper hunting and I find it extremely boring and easy. I won't even use it in any other situation because of how boring it makes everything.
