There probably will be first person servers eventually but that doesn't solve the issue. Yes the majority wants third person but they don't need it to play the game. Removing it wouldn't break the game, it would make it better for everyone. Most people would complain but they would play anyway. Anyone who doesn't, oh well. I doubt they would even be required to return people's money who didn't like the change but I think they could and it wouldn't hurt the profits at all regardless.

Same here. I would prefer to have it disabled but there aren't really any servers that do it. I'm not going to NOT use it and put myself at a huge disadvantage though.
  7. Takistan just updated to 1.2. It now has support for 80 spawned vehicles at a time as well as adding NEW vehicles and they fixed more bugs. Good Stuff.
  8. It looks like we will be doing a Takistan weekend, if we don't do it sooner. Takistan was released today. You can install the files with DayZ commander. We also have Utes.
  9. I feel Thermal and Night Vision Goggles/Scopes should be removed. Not because I got owned by them or anything, they just take a lot of the fun out of playing the game at night. Flashlights should be able to be attached/used with every secondary weapon so that everyone could use one at night right from the start. To use a flashlight on your primary you would have to find a primary with a flashlight, just how it is now, but more flashlight attached weapons should be added. We should also be able to jog without the flashlight flailing all over the screen, sprinting would still cause it to happen. The L85 Thermal is especially lame, once you have it, you're basically no longer afraid of other players, at least that's how it is for me. I will see any living creature coming from any direction up to about 800m+ and could easily kill them before they even get close. As for sniping at night, you would have to work with a group of friends, find players when they turn their lights on or throw flares/chemlights. You could have your friend shoot an M203 flare and snipe during the time that it's lit. Keeping night vision on the rangefinder would be fine because then a sniper could know the range to the targets before he saw them, soon as the lights went on he could begin firing, this is balanced because the sniper is the spotter for his team and it generally takes snipers longer to engage their targets because they have to judge the distance. The rangefinder could basically be used to scout locations at night but wouldn't give any real advantage once the actual combat started. The gameplay would be so much more intense, frightening and exciting at night without Thermal or Night Vision Goggles/Scopes. It would also make flashlights and other illuminating items useful. tl;dr - Removing Thermal and Night Vision Goggles/Scopes, being able to walk/jog without the light flailing all over and adding the ability to use a flashlight with every secondary weapon as well as adding more primary weapons with flashlights would add a lot of balance to the game as well as making night gameplay much more exciting and frightening. Also, This is coming from a player that has plenty of the items mentioned and has used them for a long time.

    Thermal, Night Vision and Flashlights.

Balance is only one small piece of the bigger picture. There are many reasons why they need to be removed. The biggest concern I have with them is that they don't fit with the theme of the game, they take away the fear and difficulty of playing during the nighttime. Thermal is just plain easymode, I don't understand why it's even in-game. I really hope the standalone doesn't have any type of thermal or nightvision unless it's only on the rangefinder. It's easy enough to play at night even with the garbage flashlight system we have now, implementing headlamps or some sort of hands-free flashlight would make NVGs completely unneeded. I believe it would also make the game much more fun and balanced for everyone.
  11. I kinda miss Chenarus. I would be cool if they were linked together though.
  12. -First Official Lingor Island Weekend Details- -Tonight at 7pm PDT, 9pm CDT, 10pm EDT- We will be installing Lingor Island this evening and it will remain on the server until sometime Sunday night, depending on feedback from our players of course. All of your progress in Chenarus will remain intact and you will be able to continue playing when we switch back to the map. Your Chenarus and Lingor Island characters will be separate, so everyone in Lingor will be starting fresh and when we return to Chenarus your character will be just as you left them. so there is no need to worry about any of that. To join us in Lingor you can easily install the Lingor Island files and join the server using DayZ Commander, it will have no effect on your current DayZ installation, it installs to a separate file. If you don't want to join us in Lingor you can find other Vilayer Hive Chenarus servers by filtering for "DayZChenarus" this should find servers on the Vilayer hive running Chenarus. You can also return to your original character on the original DayZ hive. Anyone new to Lingor Island should know it is a smaller map and as a result there will likely be much more PvP happening, finding a group of friendlies will be very beneficial. There are still a plethora of Vehicles to be found and repaired, including at least one Helicopter. You can enter 99.9% of the buildings on the map and it is pretty easy to find loot. It is also a tropical island type of setting, just think of it as a vacation. If you have any questions, Message Desync or Psychobob on Teamspeak or Steam. The details for both are located in the 1st post of this thread.
  13. It's mostly the 6 hour restarts. That and Vilayer makes small changes to the patches for their Hive.
  14. No idea when we'll do Lingor, up to Desync. They have also already released a map called Utes we can switch to.
  15. Vilayer is making sure Rocket's update isn't a PoS like 2.5 was when it was released. They will release it for their servers when they're satisfied, when they do, we'll update. We don't have an ETA for it though, soon i'm guessing.
  16. The character you make on this server will only be able to be used on other servers in the Vilayer Hive. I don't know how many of those there are currently though. Basically there are 2 Hives now, One hosted by Rocket and one Hosted by Vilayer, We're just part of the Vilayer one now instead of Rocket's.
  17. I'll get on now and check that time time is correct. I remember before we had problems with the server time staying what we set it at.
  18. I'm not sure how to find the server now. The best thing everyone can do is Put "Desync" into any filter they can find. Any server that pops up should be the right one. It's no longer named US 23 but we are looking for a way to change the name back to that. It may or may not show up in DayZ Commander as the correct server, I'm unable to get it to show up but other people have had it work. To connect to the server you have to install Beta patch 96061 or higher and install DayZ 1.7.2.5, this can be easily done using DayZ Commander. No need to worry about tents or vehicles not saving with the latest patch now, it seems to be fixed, along with many other issues. We will try and assist anyone with any connection issues asap. While playing if you do happen to find a vehicle that seems to belong to another player, we would appreciate you making a note of it in this thread, it will help us know for sure that vehicles spawns are indeed fixed. You're not required to do this, it would just be useful. I really don't expect there to be any issues, I just want to catch them fast if there are.
  19. -Pros- Latest Patch for DayZ and working properly (1.7.2.5) Vehicles will save properly. Tents will no longer dupe themselves. No longer possible to dupe items. No more duped items all over the server. Fresh server: No barricades in annoying places, Vehicles in their original spawns ready for the taking. DOUBLE the amount of vehicles from the original server. Increased Admin Control over the server. We can host Lingor weekends or change to Lingor and back to Chenarus any time we want. (Players can easily switch to Lingor & back with Dayz Commander.) -Cons- Fresh Start - You spawn on the coast with the default items. You can't take items from this server to other servers outside the Vilayer hive You can't bring items from any server outside the Vilayer hive to this server.
  20. The configuration files for the server are being edited now and it will be up soon. We believe that the server may be completely reset back to 0. All vehicles and tents may be gone and ready to be collected as if the server is new. We're not positive until we log in but we suspect this is the case. If this is the case, please save all tents after setting them up and using them and such so we don't get swamped with a bunch of duped items.
