I never end up on the beach either after a rollback. Now when I jump into a .5 when i forgot to update to it... Always on the beach, sometimes naked! (no gear at all)

My theory is if it is hacked, get rid of it asap. Now if the equipment is something that spawns in game keep it, you'll lose it soon enough. As for the guns? Use them until you find anything to replace them with. You'll hear you won't get global banned, which you won't. Admins sometimes do ban for it tho. Just use it to find something else then destroy it. Know you have done your part in cleaning up the apocalypse.

It is an excuse used to get rid of the things they deem unfit. I am guilty of using this tactic myself. Watch whenever someone wants something in game removed they'll use that or some other lame excuse. It's those who have valid complaints that don't rely on those tactics. Just a thought!
