Removing Sniper rifles from a game is the thread you will always see in every game with rifles. because people just cant handle getting shot without having had the chance of doing something back. Well... sorry for you. But thats just the whole purpose of a sniper. Thats why they have to have the skill to be able to make those 1 shot kills from a distance instead of unloading a SMG or Machine gun at a person till he dies or hides himself. What you need is some friends. That can back you up when theres a sniper. Me and my friends have killed almost every sniper we encountered. As the sniper has advantages it also has its weaknesses. If he misses a single shot he can be very much fucked. and SMG or Rifle users on the other hand can easily pursue you or spray around you and still get a kill. This thread needs to be Locked. Theres no point in discussing the taking away of sniper rifles in a realism survival zombie and player vs player large scale sandbox game. -

Yep this is a very cool idea and Suggested many times already. Some problems though: (Which you have less with barb wire and tank traps) When its a solid hard placeable sign. Visual: - Placing it in a house would not make sense. (Barb wire would) - Placing it on hard surfaces would not make sense. (Barb wire, Tank Traps, and Sand Bags would) - Many other locations where it doesnt make sense. - Can confuse new players. - Turns the world in a less realistic place. It will simply make the place look very unrealistic quickly. But perhaps it could be something made with scrap material and something that not has to stick in the ground to fit in the scene. Code: - There is no editing a text on something feature in arma yet. only the one for on your map. Abuse: - Because it allows the player to input data on it inworld it can quickly become an abuse issue. (giving the denvelopers allot of extra work time on refining it) Other Reasons: - Rocket says he likes small detail allot. that makes you really feel like you are in the game. - Signs with stupid messages and in wierd locations mess that up. (Not as much with wires and traps) - Because people will write whatever they want its gonna become unrealistic because they will write unimportant stuff since its just a game and since they are not server tied. Its for these reasons i think this could and would only come in the stand alone version of DayZ. One thing that might work though: - A note you can place in the form of a piece of paper. could be something that would work perhaps. since it doesnt obstruct so much visual and people can just neglect it without seeing the message. But still i dont think it will be added because of the other things is stated above. perhaps in the standalone though. -

New Weapon! Rotten Old Wooden Plank Weapon to knock a player uncouncious only, Allowing you to loot there gear if you came up behind them. Does not allow you to kill player. Because you start with such a small bag you can not carry all there gear allowing the other player to keep most of his stuff. BREAKS when used on player. So not usefull to use on other new players. (Preventing everyone from knocking each other out on beach) Wood plank + Bandage = Spalk for broken leg, allows you to hop around (bit faster as shift crouch speed) Incase you get a broken leg right at start this is really usefull. slow loss of blood till you find another bandage in time in town. yeah you might be right. i have thought of that part where it might be washed ashore. infact i think certain items should wash ashore apart from wood planks also etc. but at the same time. the plank is kindof essential with the broken leg fix part and in the starter kit idea. where you have a little bit of an edge but not too much and that you do have to find stuff to get the real edge in the game. making new players not being aware of this and not finding it or looking for it. but i do like the idea where people instead of moving inlands right away. would check the beach first for items. and might find something to defend themselves a little bit by finding the wood plank. but i dont think the beach should have any type of weaponry that could kill another player. because that flips the whole game over right away. thats the main reason i think you start with the bandages and flashlight and painkillers only. so that you atleast have a small edge if something were to happen. thats why any suggestion for a weapon that can actually make a kill is i think being rejected anyway. which i totally agree upon. I dont know if Rocket looks at these suggestions though. He says himself he is more busy with the mechanics right now then items etc. Which is understandable because items can have influence on mechanics and then he would be having to work on that again istead of on the core part of the whole interaction and actions of weapons and gears. But i do hope he is thinking about adding more items just so that people dont get bored to quickly. Thats why i wrote the suggestion of a Tear Gas Grenade. Which i think could already be added with what is done code wise already right now. And at the same time open up ALLOT more tactics and fun for people. But maybe they are worried thigns like this will influence there data gathering and then influence there conclusions on what is good or not. my english is kinda crappy i think in this reply but o well i hope you understand me and get what im saying. #1 - Pointless killing? So being able to shoot someone silently, Being able to take out multiple targets without being compromised Is pointless killing? #2 - If you meant pointless. because you would not "Have" to kill someone. Then you dont understand the role of a sniper at all. #3 - Pointless killing is an actual part of the game. And the point to kill someone can be many things. Can you tell me please. What is pointless killing? And then especially the one where. someone with a sniper can only do the pointless kill. -
Also add loyalty factor. So when you park your horse if someone is trying to loot it they will be kicked off and the horse runs away :D So they have to make the decision to either try to ride it or kill it. which the second off that makes me kinda sad writing it. (but before horses will ever be in this game there will probably be underground building already where the horse would be anyways XD)

You guys must be loot cycling or sumtin because i have played this game non-stop for 7 days. and i must say that sniper rifles are very rare. And beside of that. I dunno if you ever fired the AKM or any other rifle. They shred people from very long distances. This game does exactly what it is supposed to do. And that is make it a realistic zombie apocalypse survival game. And right now its in Alpha and theres allot of balancing that still needs to be done. But the sniper rifle drop is certainly in the good range atm. Tear Gass - Rare military Drop. Effects on player - Blurs there vision like that when you are almost dead but then maybe greenish yelowish. - Slows the people in the gas down, making your escape easier and more stealth. - Makes them cough for a long time. (Slightly giving away there position) Confusing others that they might be sick having them keep distance creating confusion. (Curable by Drinking water) This weapon can be used offensive and defensive. The slowing down and blur allows you to either escape form them if its a large group. or engage them. - Effects on zombie (None) Maybe block vision due to wall of smoke but i think thats kinda much to ask right now. Future use perhaps with dog: - The dog becomes confused and stops chase. When you chop a tree in real life it actually makes allot of sound. The Constant Chop Chop sound could attract a bandit in the forest nearby. Then when he has a general idea where it is comming from he might spot your fireplace aswell if you made the hasty decision of placing it right there right away instead of keeping it and taking it with you. Or he could scout the area also right away. This would also make you chop wood more likely with friends around covering you. and looking around as you chop. This makes chopping wood alone a vunerable thing. Which i think is realistic because you dont chop with a rifle in your hands :) Also this would mean the chopping action would take time instead of the instant action right now. Ofcourse it would be an breakable action if you moved. This i think makes tracking players cooler and more realistic.

I dont think dynamic deer stands would make sense in a way of realism. and there loot isnt that great really. better go loot at military camps or airfields ;) i'd rather have more reason to walk through the woods. it is starting to get a little boring. i totaly want zombies in the woods. or zombie animals lol. or perhaps certain deer stand specific loot. like a higher chance of finding sniper rifles or something like that. and the reason you know where the deer stands are actually makes the long walk less boring xD

Me and my team found a bus once and fixed it up. The really cool part about it was that it was hard to fix. and hard to find parts. We had to cover the thing and at the samet ime look at parts. We killed like 5 players in the process. The problem though is that most vehicles are already gone. and well hidden. I think it would be good if players would be forced to take the vehicle to certain places where they could get attacked. i dont know how it works right now with fuel etc. i know they can fill canisters at the fuel stations. But perhaps the fuel stations should only be in the big cities. And a canister should only be carried in the hand so that people will have the vehicle nearby instead of them being able to collect it by foot and take it to there hidden vehicle. or use empty servers and put them in the bag and take them with them. the jerry can should be something that is server bound and carried.
