Seeing that makes me wonder... All the loot on the ground next to a crashed heli, does that really spawn there? Or is it just left-behind gear, dropped by someone who found that crash site before I did? Are there really spawns around the heli, or only inside? Both, maybe?

Something must be wrong with your installation then. It should have created a main profile automatically (it shows up in the "select player" list in SupWithThat's second picture) whose name cannot be changed (usually your windows user name afaik). Then you would have to create and work with additional profiles if you want different player names. But if there isn't even that main profile in the list, I'd suggest a reinstallation.

Ok, just to be clear, you created additional profiles without any problems (well, except changing the name), so they show up in the profile list every time you start Arma2? Yet, you looked in "My Documents\Arma 2 Other Profiles", but there are no subfolders in it at all? That sounds strange, maybe it's an installation issue. Can you play normally with your main profile?

This belongs in the troubleshooting section of this forum. Anyway, each local player profile is stored in its own folder (called "Arma 2 other profiles") on your hard disk. For example, the default for win7 is ":\Users\[your username]\my documents\ArmA 2 other profiles". The name of these profile folders are the same as your ingame profiles. Try to find this folder on your hdd and change the folder name of any created profile to whatever profile name you want. This should work. edit: Oh, and as far as I know, you cannot change the name of your (first) main profile. Could that be your problem? If not, create an additional profile, set it up as you like and change it's name in "arma 2 other profiles" as mentioned before if it won't let you do that ingame.

I agree. Considering that someone could still carry single steel bolts like he would do normally' date=' an extra quiver with more than 6 additional bolts in inv would be too much. This, however, I'm not so fond of. Most crossbow player will tell you that being able to reload quickly is absolutely mandatory. If you'd have to go through the whole quiver mechanic to get the next bolt ready for reloading between shots, the crossbow would become very impractical.

I fully agree with this. I love using the crossbow' date=' but can only carry 3-4 bolts when carrying other gear i need. Adding a quiver for the bolts, or just making the bolts have a higher ammo count (ie: Winchester ammo comes in things of 15, Lee comes in clips of 10, maybe bolts come in groups of three?) would make this often overlooked weapon much more useful. [/quote'] I made a suggestion for this topic in another subforum. TL;DR Quiver that spawns single steel bolts in your inv via gear menu. Limited uses. Able to restock via right click on single bolts. Although, I dont know if it's possible to implement this "limited uses" mechanic.

With all the great improvements in the gear menu department recently, wouldn't it be possible to create a quiver item (maybe even for toolbelt) that lets you spawn single bolts in your inventory by right clicking in gear menu (like the hatchet spawns pile of wood in your inv) with limited (lets say twelve) uses? Now, if a gear menu right click on the single bolt could be used to restock the quivers limited uses, then that would be a solution right there. Retrieving method for a single bolt or reloading mechanics and even the crossbow itself wouldn't need to be changed at all.

It's just that the clearness of this board has deteriorated a lot lately, don't you think? Just look at all that spam and crossposting in the announcements threads. The "1.7.1 Details" thread is less than five days old and has over 1000 replies. It takes ages to dig for important information sometimes. I found a crashed heli on the NW airfield just a few days ago. Minigun was lit up and loot lying next to the helo, very good loot. Iirc I was running the latest beta patch, which was 93666 at that time. Server was US16 or US18. Not sure though if that crash site would have spawned any more loot, since I didnt feel like hanging around for too long. But I guess they kind of work now.

I was just looking through the 1.6.0.1 loot sheet and in the military barracks section, I saw an item called "binocular_vector". It has the same spawn probability as GPS and night vision goggles, so it must be pretty rare. Can someone tell me what this is and how it differs from regular binoculars? Thanks in advance.

You probably know that tents might not be loaded correctly when a server restarts, but they usually reappear with the next restart. That, however, pretty much sounds like someone just found your stash and looted it.

Sounds nice. When you come across one of those, would you be able to distinguish them from regular binocs? Or do they look just the same?

Here is a quite extraordinary story I posted in another thread. I was using 1.6.0.1, but I see no reason why that story shouldn't be mentioned here, too. tl;dr I was disconnected from NY1 when it was getting dark (8pm) and raining. After reconnecting immediately, it was still 8pm, but daylight and no rain visible, although you could still hear it. FPS dropped to 10 (was about 30-35 before disconnect).

I just finished my game session because of this. But this might be interesting. I was playing on NY1 for one and a half hour, when suddenly, I lost connection to the server (getting the "server hasnt responded in 10/15/20/... seconds" message). It was getting pretty dark (about 8pm ingame) and it was raining like hell when that d/c happened. So I went back to the multiplayer lobby and just reconnected to NY1 immediately. Once in game, I spawned right where I got disconnected, but despite ingame time still being 8pm, there was bright daylight now. Also, I didn't see any rain, although I could still hear it clearly. Oh, and to get back to topic: That's when the formerly very comfortable FPS dropped to pretty much unplayable 10 frames/sec. Also, loot was disappearing very quickly. A few other players on NY1 said they were experiencing the same. Maybe this story might help finding the root of all evil here. My system, if that even matters: Win7 x64 AMD 64X2 4800+ 4GB Ram ATi HD 5870

Could someone else confirm this? Are you indeed visible again?

Yep, I've seen this weird graphic glitch before, too. And just an hour ago, I came across a set-up wire on an 1.5.7 server that looked just fine. So, the new patch shouldn't be the issue here.
