    I mainly just want access to the zobie AI in the traditional DayZ chernarus for machinima making and such. There is endless possibilities if i could host a private ArmA server running off DayZ's map with DayZ's proper zombies. My mate and I have a full idea of raiding a town with a group of survivors, who get overrun, very much like a movie. heck with better animations and physics you could probably make a movie out of it.

    Kill Camera

    Only thing deaths need is a "Player killed Player" message, even if its just in server logs. And i still think you should only see it if you were the one killed. Once again ties in with my idea of a post-death scoreboard, instead of during game scoreboard, and then the server can save high scores if it really must. In your scoreboard it could be "Killed by: [Player Name] "Zombies" "Starvation" "Thirst" etc.

    Player "God"

    I've been teleported to "the moon". Similar style. Text just said something like "POW! Straight to the moon!". We all got tele'd west of Zelenogorsk about 2km up (could not see the ground). Like all hacking experiences, i INSTANTLY aborted to avoid getting killed by some script kiddie. Upon changing servers and logging back in, my friend and I were still up in the air. So we decided to try and "abort" just before we hit the ground then log back in. He went first, but did it too high up, about a tree high (it was about a 10-15 second free fall). So he died, i tried, and successfully logged in safe and healthy on the ground. Set up a tent, looted his body and stored his items in the tent. Only thing lost was his ghilli suit. All in all,annoying, but funnily enough teleported us to where we wanted to go, and later that night we found a car, a bicycle, and several more tents and alice packs.

    Mandatory 3rd person disabled

    Or keep it as an option to please everyone, and people who don't want it to be in the game go play on Expert servers where 3DP is off. Lots of people like it, and everyone can use it. You should be aware that 3rd person is used to "peek" over walls and such, and should adjust accordingly. That said, if you don't like it, no one is forcing you to stay on servers that have 3DP enabled.

    Where have you found your NVG's?

    They spawn at helicopter crash sites, like most rare weaponry and items. So just search around looking for these (possibly use a map, though there are so many that it will barely help). If you get lucky and run across one its a whole other level of luck to find something rare instead of a box of STANAG rounds and an FN FAL. (which seems to be all i've ever found at heli crash sites + one M14 Aim)

    No thanks. The bore of navigating the inventory system is terrible. Not to mention the process of switching items around from your backpack, inventory, weapon slot, toolbelt is much to difficult, and normally results in items getting lost through bugs. Pretty much a UI overall is necessary, and the ability to take a can out of my backpack, to fit my jerry can in without having to drop anything on the ground, and being able to manually switch them without the space required.

    There is. Items Zombies Players Vehicles All of these are reasons to not sit in the forest playing "lets shoot all the pigs and camp near a water source". Its a good idea to have a "home base" like that that you can return to, but if you choose to stay out there, then thats your choice. There are plenty of reasons to go into civilisation. Also i love that you tried to make getting "matches/hunting knife/hatchet/water bottle" is somehow easier from a city then just piling a bag full of blood bags with full health capabilities from each. Self blood bagging = no. It was designed to persuade players to work together, and more items like that will come. Plus its quite a hard feat in real life to give yourself a blood transfusion.

    Meats healing rate is fine as it is. Without it "lone wolf" players wouldn't stand much of a chance. However i can agree on something within the sense of a combat indicator, and not being able to heal during that. Only blood bags should be applicable while in combat to heal someone. This prevents people who have nothing better to do with their gameplay or inventory that just stack on 10 meat, and heal everytime they are damaged. However 800 - 200 heal rates for meat and cans is fine as it is.

    1st person only, waypoints, what more?

    I only play on servers with 3DP on. I like the ability to scan around in 3rd Person and such. Crosshairs i also like, but aren't a do or die thing. Waypoints and ability to see people on the map is "cheap". I dont mind waypoints because thats just infinite navigation once you have a map, but seeing yourself on a map is a turnoff for a server. I think if your up-to-date and well managed, switching to 3DP:ON may draw more people in to play. My ideal veteran server: 3DP:ON CH:ON Tracer:OFF NT:OFF Waypoints:ON Map Placement:OFF

    Slow Zombies

    So what im getting from this. You: Fix running animations Make more infected (been suggested numerous times) Make infected easier to kill, by making them slower... and give no extra health. So where am i wrong in saying "You simply want to make the game easier". More infected will be NO threat. Making them slower adds nothing, it simply takes away. WHY should they run slower then you? They are human beings, infected, blood-hungry ones at that. Why would they ever be slower unless they are the crawlers or hoppers? (which are slower, theres your variation in speed and difficulty). I will state myself again. YES i agree that there animation and pathfinding needs to be fixed, i agree with that in your OP. But that is known to be just placeholder for ArmA2 engine and animations. This WILL be fixed and made better, that is a given. So once again, give me a real reason why infected should be slower? It makes no sense lore wise, it adds nothing to the game, only makes it easier. EDIT: Anyone complaining about running through buildings to lose zombies is off their face. Its part of the game, you need to lose sight of the infected to lose aggro. Luring them into buildings and leaving the building is a fine example of this. If you consider this wrong, or an exploit, i highly suggest you rethink things. Making infected slower will just make running away easier. It will simply leave my guns to be used for players only, hey look! INCREASE PVP RATES. Good idea :)

    Weapon Customization

    a_ruttle nailed it on the head. The game is already ported over to ArmA3. ArmA3 will be the engine used for standalone DayZ. So that argument is flawed.

    Slow Zombies

    You contradicted yourself very heavily. Here ill layout the basics for you: Zombies speed lowered. I can now run away and lose them much easier. I can move and shoot (at the same time in the future im assuming, just less accurately). Therefore.. if i'm not a dropkick, i can NEVER be reached by zombies. Sound hard? Zombies health increased. That makes them more annoying to kill, not more enjoyable which is half of what your going for. Doing this would make ammo spawns need to change, and i still see it as no threat. 2 Bullets to the head instead of 1 is double health... and they are moving slower, so are easier to hit. Hell, why shoot? I don't need to sneak, or shoot, i can OUT RUN the threat. Currently you have to use buildings, loss of sight and more to lose zombies. It requires tactics. With this, i can just keep moving, and I win. Re-think your idea, and stop just attacking anyone who criticises it. It has flaws, it will make the game easier, and less enjoyable. The only thing zombies need changed are better animations (WIP), better path-finding, which will come with standalone. Now please, CRITICISE me, find flaws in what i missed. Don't simply attack me saying "NO YOU'RE WRONG, I'M RIGHT". You put your points forward, and i just showed you several reasons why none of them make sense to me to be added to this game.

    An idea that struck me - A new Z

    To be honest, infected people with mutations is a big no for this game. I don't want to have to run into a zombie that can "1 hit k0 me" pretty much. However, i do LOVE the idea of infected people screaming. I mean, right now they kinda mumble and grunt. But would none of them scream aloud, and alert more infected people to your area? This could be interesting, and "normal" infected roaming the forest would provide quite a thrill at night to run into. Right now running through a forest is like playing Pyro on TF2. Hold one button and your G2G. But all of a sudden hearing a loud scream, and having a few infected run at you from the forest would be quite exciting. TL;DR - Special Infected? NO. Screaming infected? YES

    Gear on player models

    Don't repost a post you made, just edit and bump your original post, perhaps improving on it. I don't quite understand your idea. Are you asking for pistols and NVG's to be shown on the player model? Because NVG's, while active, are shown on the player model. Or are you using those as a suggestion, and saying that you'd like all gear to represent? I would like to be able to see the ammo packs strapped to players waists and legs. A medkit style thing for bandages, blood bags, morphine etc. However i don't think it would eliminate KoS or even lessen it. If i really want to study an unknown survivor for what he has, it will be whether or not to kill him for it. And bandages / blood bags / morphine are common items held. Same with food and drink. If im seeing a guy with NVG's on, i probably have them as well. Not a bad idea overall, i don't see it adding much overall to the game, but would be a nice thing alongside skins and such.

    Easy Team Assembly.

    No thanks. Teleporting is a massive no-no. Play the game for a while, study some online maps, and learn some major landmarks. Even if you spawn in Berezino, and your mate in Kamenka, you can meet up on a diagonal with 10-20 minutes without much hassle. It all boils down to knowledge of your surroundings.

    Slower but stronger zombies.

    Search feature. its like every second thread is about this. Slow zombies would make the game easier, and the ammo more of an annoyance. I prefer them as they are now, and am just waiting for the animations and scripting to be perfected in the full version standalone. /thread.

    Search feature. This has been suggested, and commented/talked on by Rocket. The zombie AI are a marvellous feat in such an engine as ArmA2. They were not meant to behave as they do, so the fact that Rocket managed to make them do that is quite good. The running animation is buggy, and too fast (slow now). But its Alpha, that is low priority, learn to kill the zombies, its not hard. Your idea will simply make it easier, which i cannot agree with. /thread.

    Skins, not skills

    I don't agree with changing skins in game. However the skin ideas you proposed would be great as optional selection, to more define and determine group member's roles, and differentiating players. it also provides a large ground for bandits to mislead survivors. "Oh he has a medic outfit, he will help me-" BANG. :D
  21. I like this ideas. However they seem to be more of a different style to the original direction of the game. Using this as a different mode or something would be quite interesting. Kind of a "conquest" survival style mode. Construction shouldn't be limited by factions. Teaming up shouldn't be a "you have to be in this city" game. I like how well thought out your ideas are, but i think you're straying to far from the meaning and purpose of this game. Also a little problem i just thought of. What happens if i host a new server, get me and my mates together. Build both a bandit camp and a survivor camp, take control of both, and kill anyone who comes near? If im a survivor in the "survivor faction" city, and i kill... what happens to that city? How is it controlled / who owns it? Lots of problems, but an interesting thought to a different mode of gameplay. + 1 Beans for a mature, well thought suggestion.

    No forced skins. It penalises a players choices and play styles. Players should make their own decision about other players. It adds that level of trust, betrayal and all that to make the game more of a "simple hardcore style survival". Adding skins will break that. However i can agree that choosing different skins or customising your character would be nice.

    I agree with your side. However im not sure if any of you are aware that there infact IS a gun lower keybind. It lowers your rifle like the old Halo button combo does, pointing it towards the ground. For the player to engage, they must wait a second for the gun to raise back up, in a very obvious fashion. Making this more usable would be nice, maybe while typing you lower your gun, as to not look threatening. IDK how this would work with direct voice, as you need to do that while on the move and shooting.

    I still would not trust survivor, same as i do now. If i don't know them, i don't trust them. And that is how a real zombie outbreak would result imo. Friends band together, and trust no one else. Bandits do not deserve to be targeted for their choices, the only thing Rocket needs to add is more reasoning to not shoot that survivor for their beans, because they can help you. Right now blood bags is the only real thing worth keeping someone alive for, and meat is a fine option for you to heal, and instead loot all of their stuff with only 1 or 2 shots wasted.

    Mmmk, i dont agree to much on giving benefits to players that are maybe just playing a bit more. But construction is good, and has been already talked about by Rocket.
