I also think I read that somewhere, just felt like expanding on the idea :) Universal keys could work. Alternatively you could find materials that could be moulded into a key (if you found the "universal" key mould) etc. Either way, there could also be a system for respawning the key once it despawns (when somebody dies). Thanks for the input :) Not necessarily "great" for alerting zeds. It would be quite terrifying :) The whole idea of the locking system is to make car alarms have an actual existence. Without locking a car, car alarms shouldn't exist, and its a choice you have to make. "Do i have enough firepower / is no one around to make it worthwhile to smash this window open and hot wire the car?" You even stated the "purpose" in your statement about it not having purpose aha. :) Definitely :) I'm thinking L4D and Walking Dead scenarios all the time :) It mainly came to my attention when I was playing the Walking Dead game and there was a screw driver inside a car. But the car was locked, so I instantly thought "hey I'll just bash the window in". Turns out the noise it created was enough to alert nearby walkers of my presence :L I don't mind the tool box being needed to hot wire the car, as that again means not just anybody can hop in a car and jump-start it. But i don't like it being the replacement of a car key. Also, you can currently leave the engine running when you get out of a car by "Ejecting" instead of using the option to "Get out.". It is a true statement that that could of been the case, but I still think in a proper environment, you wouldn't be able to run past a man, open a car door, hop in, turn the keys, and drive off, without some intervention. Thanks :D I don't know about a tool box to "break in" although possibly you could even go more in-depth: - If you have NONE of the available items to break the glass, you bunt it with your elbow (slower, longer noise [more hits], and possibly hurts you a bit?) - If you have a weapon (axe, knife or other blade, even a crowbar) or the butt of a gun you can smash it open using that (possibly degrading the weapons quality slightly (i don't know how that system works fully yet)) - If you have a tool box you can pull out a hammer to do the above ^ without any degrading (unless tool boxes degrade as well) -

I tried searching it up but didn't find any dedicated threads on the idea. I did find a few threads titled like "Standalone Suggestions" that simply had a dotpoint of "Car Alarms - Attract Zombies". I personally think theres a lot of depth lacking in vehicle control, and really wish they would expand on it, so i wrote up an idea that I hadn't seen written into recently. Could you link me to a thread about it? I did only search fast as I just did this in my break :) -
I'd love to see a L4D style screen when you die, running threw every single thing possible in the game, and how many times you did that. For example: Zombie kills Player Kills Player Bandages Self Bandages Other medical support etc. Vehicles repaired Distance ran Distance drove Distance swam Distance flown Distance floated I won't go on anymore, but hopefully you get the idea of it. I'd love to see, and be able to show off a great life I had in DayZ without having to record the entire time I was alive as proof. A simply death screen scrolling with stats like this (obviously it doesn't have to look the same) would fill that gap :)

I think with the satchel charges he was more going, why use it on an unarmed fresh spawn when they are that rare? Thats where hacked in seems a little fishy, especially having a quick look at that loot inside the car. Im taking no sides, but from what ive learnt here, from BOTH sides. 1 guy shot at you and was killed. Another guy didnt shoot at you and was killed because your team thought it was the same person. -

I love how kids using hacked in items, against an unarmed player are trying to defend themselves. Honestly, wheres the argument on your side? From what i've gathered, 2 SEPARATE people, were engaged at separate times. One being aggressive, one passive, and your "members" killed both, with hacked in gear.... -

Not too bad an idea, expanding on it. Maybe you should be able to chuck your primary gun into your pack, and *pick up* the backpack off your freshly killed mate. Then you could carry this along instead of your primary gun. Obviously would need some implementation where you can drop the backpack in an instance to switch out to your pistol to fire at infected or players.

ew RuneScape style autoblogging. No thanks, hate that and it barely got used. The website integration will track overall statistics, and thats all. Tracking live stats could be abused to stalk players on servers, and i think thats alright.

Just make sure you have fully repaired the hull, engine and windscreen and then your car won't be prone to exploding. fuel tank is just so you don't leak fuel. :) EDIT: Oh and a bit more on topic, im sure this will get addressed with new physics engine in RV4, and tweaks made by Rocket and the DayZ team to the engine in standalone.

I don't mind the idea of having the ability to somewhat heal yourself solo in the hospital, and only in there. As it is risky, maybe it takes a while to do? Maybe your character is stuck sitting by this machine, or in a chair or something for 10 seconds? I personally don't think it should heal indefinitely like the blood bag, but it definitely should help you out. There would have to be a limit on how often you can do it, or some downside that makes it impossible to do a second time straight away or something. Drains your hunger or something like that. Nice idea, id like to see it expanded. + 1 beans.

Just try and make a workaround for the reset of stats, change back into 1st person, and loss of backpack during skin morph. The system is okay (i guess, im still against identifying players through a game mechanic, but i dont really mind) as it is.

I'd love to see a swamp area in a future map, foggy swamp with possible zombie lurkers in a forest at night would be very atmospheric.

I don't think the game needs set classes or perks. Rather things to help promote self selection while playing. A few good suggestions i've read: Ability to wear a second pouch/backpack instead of a primary (role as a loot hoarder / medic) Defrib kit or some form of medic kit instead of a secondary/primary (role as a medic) Some form of ammo container to use some of your toolbelt slots (possibly even a row). This gives reason for players in your group to by highly geared "overwatches" or "soldiers" at the expense of not being able to carry every utility to survive. (especially if toolbelt is reduced like suggested to mean you cannot carry every item). And of course weight in the backpack system and gear. To allow messengers or runners to be light geared, low food/water needing, sprinters. Those are just a few ideas of read around, i kind of expanded and made up the ammo container one on the spot. these kinda things allow players to make choices within a group, and take a role. It is not a complete benefit, every gain has its loss alongside it. And of course you don't have to even do any of these, and just continue on as a stock survivor (Lone Wolf even). -
That.... a thousand times. I'd love to see a river system running through Chernarus. Would add a lot to the PvP side, provide more purpose to towns being on the riverside (and maybe more towns). Boats could travel up here to decrease the amount of time it takes for a person to travel inland. Right now boats are used for SE island, and to let everyone know where you are along the coast. (Only the speedboat is worth using compared to running)

DayZ disables lots of the ArmA 2 stuff as its not used in the game. Just disable the DayZ mod and re-open the official game from Steam/CD or whatever. Should work fine then.
