Good. More competition is good for the gamers (us). Do i want Rocket's DayZ to succeed more? of course... i like his way of thinking, and bringing mmos back to old school, without bullshit restrictions and pvp switches/servers. But in the end, i also want the best gaming experience. As long as no ones ripping anyone off, and both parties are only interested in making the best game, well, may the best Z game win! -

I remember one of my earlier PK kills. I spotted these two guys just exploring and hitting up towns, looting, etc. One of them had a hatchet, the other a Lee Enfield. They were just minding their own business when i spotted them, and stalked them for a good half hour. When i finally had a clear shot, when they were fighting zeds, i took it. Almost immediately i felt regret. I knew what a shitty feeling it would be, respawning on the coast again, starting all over and most of the time you're not even sure what mistake you made... remember he was fighting zeds. I let the other guy live, who went prone and was probably talking to his buddy over voip as he seemed to be guarding the corpse. When you press a button, and you end someone's life, it's not "just a game" anymore. You can't really throw that term around for online games, because whatever you do, it most likely affects an actual human on the other end. People who do all sorts of crazy things and then say "oh its just a game", are IMO very irresponsible. Sure at the end of the day it really is just a game, but it's a game that other people are spending time and effort on, a game that other people enjoy. When you murder someone in cold blood or in deceit, just remember that you ARE ruining someone's day. I'm not the one to say whether it's right or wrong, Rocket let YOU make the decision. Just don't hide behind the "its just a game" excuse, because you know deep down it's not. If your'e going to ruin someone's day, then at least man up to it. -
"Increased rare spawn chance" incentive to not be a bandit

Just wait until the game dies when most people get bored of dying to bandits and leave. The n you can relax i suppose -
1.) Whenever you lose connection with the server, your character stays logged in for 10 seconds. 2.) Whenever you log off near any spawn locations (ie indoors), you are automatically teleported one mile away or enough just to place you outside of the town area. 3.) Spawn states within a 1mile radius of the player are saved when you log off.

How about making spawn rates for bandits higher? This game should've been PvPvE anyways. Firefights are already awesome but with the added threat of zombie attacks on the wicked, it would add a whole new dimension. -

ehh.. i wrote km at first but whatever. make it 100 meters, 250 meters, just enough to teleport you to the t own entrance. spawn states should be saved for an least an hour. this is common sense, and should have been at least looked at. -

No no nNO. No save zones, PvP toggle, PK switch, anything that prevents a player from killing another player at ANY given time. Thats the whole point of DayZ, and ArmA as well. However, i am totally in favor of implementing countermeasures that severely punish bandits and mass murderers. But you can never be safe in DayZ. -

I wonder if people realize that even the old mmos like Ultima Online and Lineage 2 had a "red" system for PKers, and that there is some kind of risk vs reward. Not that I am asking for PvP protection, but i agree that bandits needs a hell of a lot more risk than just "getting killed back" . -

I don't officially represent any group of people, but I think I speak for many when I say that I am pretty hyped for this game, but I haven't bought it yet. Waiting for ol' steam to put it up in their flash deals. When it does, thousands and thousands will open their wallets, but for now, the principles of a deal hunter says we should wait a few more days when its clear that steam will cater to its fans soon enough. Would be nice of people left a note saying how long since they started playing, how they are enjoying it, did it live up to expectations (hype)? And any personal feelings towards the game in general. We're all just waiting in the wings, reading the forums, watching vids, hoping to join you soon enough!

I think the problem is that there is only one objective in DayZ at present, and that is survival. So when players are geared enough to achieve this objective easily, they naturally evolve into preventing other players from reaching that objective. I can think of two possible solutions to improve this situation: 1.) Make the game harder. Like much harder. Make some zombies run 1.3x as fast so that even the most badass of the CoD deathmatch PKers would need to stop and finish off the zombie threat instead of focusing on murdering newbs. Make it possible for zombies to spawn right behind that tree or around that corner. 2.) Make it possible so that players can work together and take over towns, and proceed to rebuild civilization. When it is possible to achieve a grand objective, players will focus more on the survival and cooperation aspect rather than mindless killing. There is NOTHING wrong with open PvP. My favorite mmo of all time remains UO. But when everyone turns to PvP at the endgame then the game does become deathmatch.
