    R.I.P. coolstorybro

fucking hate it when they wait until you're climbing the ladder then nail you. shoot like a fucking man
  2. tl;dr increase difficulty, got it.
  3. Inside everything seemed fine. Some people were anxious of the gun shots, but it was totally safe. People tend to behave when they know there can be crosshairs on their head in seconds. This was a mostly successful experiment... I hope to see more of these player run outposts in the future. Here are some suggestions for your future events: 1/ It was slightly confusing for some to see people running around with guns up. Most of your boys dont carry a clan tag, so it woudl be nice if you put up a list of your employees so we know who to trust. 2/ Might want to consider two or more trade spots instead of having everyone huddled around one. Would facilitate trades and increase efficiency. 3/ Im assuming you guys do major trading yourselves? If you have an inventory, you might want to update it real time in some thread., so we have an idea of what we can get, lessening the chances of leaving empty handed. 4/ And finally, security security security! Hire your clan allies or buddies or find trustworthy mercs to patrol the forest outside if you can. Green Mountain is tough to secure, but the facility itself is really safe. The safer your customers feel, the more likely they will return and bring their friends.
  4. It was fun inside. Everyone was well behaved, despite the minimal presence of guards. I think you guys should be careful if there was a clan inside they could've taken the place over in seconds. Also the area outside should definitly be secured, i got nailed by a sniper as i was approaching through the forest. He crippled me, but when i shot back he turned like a litle bitch and ran, to protect his ghillie no doubt. I wonder if he had just acquired it inside? If so then thats fucked that he tried to rob me.
  5. You guys should secure the forests around the area.

Third person vs First person view

If you are good enough to compensate with your senses then you can do it without crosshairs. I mean crosshairs are not as big of an issue to me as the camera, but having crosshairs does make the HUD look like you're wearing a futuristic helmet with a targeting system.
  9. is most likely a hacker. open fire. sorry, but since they are removed from loot table, the chances of you actually haveing a legit one is very low, so you probably deserve the bullet.

Whenever I see a person in a ghillie suit

Yup... plus the first thing people look for in hacks is how to get one. And besides, why the fuck would you be wearing a ghillie suit in DayZ? Useless for zombies, so let's face it, you want to camp out in the woods and gank players. It is a PvP item. And yes, it does look pretty badass. So if you are that 1%, then you should have no problem being hunted. Because you deserve it. Like fucking Batman.

Third person vs First person view

Err what he said is the truth. I turn on filter for servers with my beta version and there's like 2-3 servers with first person locked. I understand third person camera is extremely popular, but I don't feel that a game like DayZ should cater to popularity on this one. And to all you third person gamers, i advise you to try the game STALKER, or Amnesia. They are both on sale at Steam. First person is absolutely crucial in many games for the immersion, you feel like you are there. It is also something that you can get used to, if you bother adjusting the settings to make it comfortable for yourself. This isn't a matter of preference like keyboard vs console. This is a matter of how the author of the book meant for you to see his vision.

    3rd person is MORE realistic.

While I don't have the scientific terms to back it up, from my pesonal experience i think FOV makes a huge difference in first person and just feels natural. I play lots of FPS like battlefield, CS, back to the old days of rainbow six and delta force, first thing i always do is tweak the FOV. Personally i think 3rd person gives a false sense of natural vision, because you see your own character in the center, you always have something to refocus your eyes because you're not looking for away all the time. In first person, a game will always feel like a game because IRL you are constantly focusing your eyes on something, but this can never be truly represented in a game. So your eyes end up getting tired because you seem to be looking at one frame (or box) at a time, and if you move around too much you'll get motion sickness. Increasing FOV helps, as well as self conditioning.
  15. "It's a terrible game," she said. "People just kill each other for no reason. It's been in alpha for ages, who knows if they'll ever fix it!" You know what I said? I didn't say a goddamn word. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand that it's about the men next to you, and that's it. That's all it is.

    Beta 95168 - Double performance

Got worsw for me as well, but still smooth. updating to the latest one tomorrow.
  17. While I too love the concept of throwing new players into the deep end and letting them figure things out on their own, I can't help but feel sorry for the ones who have never played an ArmA game. I honestly feel that a new player literally has 0% chance of survival if he/she fails to at least look over the game controls and keybindings once before starting a new game. The game engine is hard enough, let's try giving them a CS-style splash screen while the game is loading. Show basic default key commands for voice and text chat. How to open your backpack and use items. You know, the most basic controls and interface. This could even decrease senseless conflicts that could otherwise have been avoided, but either player decided to open fire because of total lack of communication. Who knows... if they knew how to talk to each other, they could have ended up friends... and then backstab them much later. So instead of a black screen, let's design a proper tutorial splash screen plz.

    Tool/Weapon for KOing people

I have tried playing a thief-like character before. Basically sneaking up on a camper and stealing from his backpack. A melee blackjack style weapon would be amazing.

    wtb ghilie

It's still in the loot table f00lz. It's just really fkin rare.
  20. Rising (DayZ)

    Character bound to server?

I like the idea of one big ass unofficial server with a cap of ~200, that is basically separate from the hive and has a standalone database. These servers should be very limited in number.

Has rocket given up on DayZ?

He gave up after that War Z interview. I think hes still in recovering
  22. I remember people using exploits and/or stealing keys of players and looting their houses in UO. That was freakin fun! As Rocket intended, there are no "safe" zones. I thought people didn't want that? War Z will have save zones and merchant NPCs. Evertyhing in DayZ is fair game.
