I hear this is quite common, but have never experienced it myself. Anyone have any videos?

Wtf so you wont even let him get his stuff back? Take what you can carry, then leave the corpse alone. -
I hope you compensate for your small duck..
Rising (DayZ) replied to - Valkyrie -'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It was probably me. I like purging the south coast once in a while, hopefully discouraging the newbs from camping there and force them to go north and exploooore. -

Why are people against the idea of NPC guards?
Rising (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't feel that they are unrealistic, and they seem like a reasonable trade-off compared to some of the more drastic measures that people are calling out to restrict PvP. I am totally against the idea of "safe zones", aka places where you either cannot shoot your gun or it doesn't do damage on other players. However I am also wary of the complete lawlessness of the current DayZ world. It's great for awhile, but then people get bored and in the end everyone and everything becomes pvp. To help slow this down, I don't see why there cannot be inclusion of NPC guards for only certain designated areas. Let's say, a very small military camp with nothing but free water for new players? It could act a temporary social hub for players, huddled inside the camp under the protection of the guards, who only shoot at players who shoot and damage another players, and of course themselves can be killed, but will respawn regularly like zombies in that area. Basically this is my idea of adding more content to the game to make it interesting. I love the idea of having the game entirely run by player community, but as we've seen with the trading posts for example, the biggest problem is that hardly anyone plays DayZ like a profession, people simply don't have time to guard an outpost 24/7 or even 12/4. I dont think it would unbalance the game, and bandits are still gonna bandit. As a matter of fact, perhaps the homicidal maniacs will be attracted to camp and snipe this place to satisfy their urges, freeing up the northern areas so the newbs can actually have a chance and get some gear. And then, of course, in the endgame there will be conflict. My vision for such a camp is from the banks in UO. It was the most important location of the town, as well as being a haven of killers, thieves, liars, and general scum of the earth. It was an area under protection of the town guards, who were unfortunately invincible, but still there were often crimes being committed in broad daylight, like theivery. Ever mysteriously lose items in your backpack to a glitch? Nah, that was actually me. Unfortunately if you want to be a thief in DayZ against random pubbers it is very difficult without getting a hatchet to the face, but such NPC guarded camps might give people the false sense of security needed for them to lower their guard. OF course, these newbies need to actually find this legendary landmark in the first place... and when you spawn without a map, it's not as easy as you might think. Thoughts? -
Highdea: Let us customize a splash screen while the game is loading
Rising (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Instead of staring at a boring black LOADING.... screen for five minutes, how about letting us drop some image files in a folder, and make the game load that image just before it freezes and goes into loading? I know some people probably alt-tab, but in my opinion it makes it even slower, and sometimes gets it stuck. -
Anyone holding an hatchet is playing the game properly. They are the best and most efficient way of taking down zeds, and I usually leave these people alone, until they start acting crazy. Then it's time to put a n***a down.

Well I just uninstall this POS
Rising (DayZ) replied to Lemonto's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That reminds me of a story. Your analogy of the bullies beating up nerds because they hate them, that's not true in DayZ, we kill out of survival too. Back in my high school, the bullies were the smart ones. Why study hard for homework when you can just take the answers from the self-proclaimed smart kids? So we pounded them and took what we want. I always felt that was how nature intended it. So one day, this chubby little redhead had the cheek to talk back in his fit of rage. "You can't just take other people's stuff," he cried."You can't do that forever!" I stood there stunned for a moment... then extended my head to help him up. His snarl slowly turned to surprise, as he took my hand and lifted himself up. I pulled him up, then shoulder barged his fat ass right back into the hard concrete ground. "Thats for being a momma's boy," I yelled at him. I knew he was just parroting his mother's wisdom. "Get strong or gtfo!" I knew at the time that his mother may be right, that perhaps I would actually have to work hard to survive in life. Luckily, DayZ proved me right. I kill to survive, just like any of you. -

Rising (DayZ) replied to Lemonto's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A fucking men. Those two destroyed some of my favorite games, including Battlefield, Diablo 3, and who knows how they're tweaking the shit out of ME3's multiplayer. I stopped playing to care. -
Is teamspeak in the spirit of the game?
Rising (DayZ) replied to SandMan20's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Using teamspeak is a universally accepted form of cheating. There's no way to stop it just as there's no way to stop people from sitting next to each other playing the game. Of course its cheating, ROcket removed server chat to make the game harder. What people should do is use direct comms in the game just as they would in real life. You don't spawn with radio headsets. -

Avatar yells when firing some guns...why?
Rising (DayZ) replied to harkonian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Haven't noticed this, except maybe once, but can't really remember. I do like how when i'm already low on health, and i get attacked by zombies (and survive), my character does sound like he's in shock. It's awesome. -
Why are people against the idea of NPC guards?
Rising (DayZ) replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not if the NPCs are just as vulnerable as you. Just think of them as other players, but players have jobs and lives IRL, they can't be online all the time. An NPC can. And if you are not good enough to take care of them and then do whatever you want in the window before they respawn, then maybe you should stick to the coast. -
Why are people against the idea of NPC guards?
Rising (DayZ) replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They don't care about your history. they only regulate their camp, and a small radius around it (the perimeter). They only shoot hostile players who shoot them or other players. I hope this is even feasible in the current engine. -
PvP is NOT part of the game. It is basically the game. UO at least had some elements of role play back in the day, but even that eventually died (although the introduction of safe zones aka trammel expedited the death). DayZ needs more content, NOT safe zones. Special events anyone?

When a European meets an American in an online game, it is similar to the native Indians meeting the first settlers. -
