Why BattlEye and not Punkbuster?
KGoBlin replied to NightRipper's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Punkbuster has a lot more support and documentation behind it, along with 3rd party groups that support Punkbuster like PBBans. Unfortunately any anti-cheap system can be hacked, nothing's perfect. I would have preferred PB as well, just for the simple fact that there's just so much more documentation on it. The best anti-cheat system is a knowledgeable and pro-active admin team. -
HNGamers DayZ Server Watcher Thingie

Good to know, I'll be keeping an eye on it! -
I'm currently using them and my average ticket response time is about 12-24 hours. No sooner so far and I've been in constant contact with them for the past 3-4 days. They also won't change your timezone. Server is locking up every 30 mins or so for 30-60 seconds. Take that last part with a grain of salt, you may get your server on a machine that's not overloaded or having issues. At least it's a step above our first host, Defconservers, which sold us a server that they couldn't get whitelisted or working with DayZ.

HNGamers DayZ Server Watcher Thingie

Nice work visad, looks very much like GUI COD admin tools for COD4. I'm assuming this tool needs to run on the server itself or can it be run remotely? -
Change the timezone to a different time of the server location?

Thanks for the reply, yeah I finally found that answer through some searching around. Host is apparently working on it. -
Change the timezone to a different time of the server location?
KGoBlin replied to FreddiRox's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Does anyone know how to do this via RCON? Our server host is refusing to do so until they put some automated system in place. Meanwhile our server sits in a time zone that's almost completely useless to us. -
What you must know before purchasing a server WITH ANY HOST.
KGoBlin replied to Lee-Vilayer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I did the same thing, thinking that since Defcon servers *offered* the option of 10-25 slots for DayZ, that they were grandfathered in and were offering them because they were available. Sadly it was the old bait and switch and I was told that after the server was purchased, configured and I had several help tickets in that my server was flagged due to the server count. When I asked why there was even an option to purchase a DayZ server below 40 players, they said that their system can't be configured to not allow DayZ servers below 40 players. As if the buyer is supposed to know the limitations of their system. Even though they could have easily put in a message somewhere in the checkout process or somewhere on their website giving that warning. They darted around my inquires for a refund numerous times so I just gave up on them. Not a reputable host IMO. Again this is my opinion, your results may vary. -
That someone also gained access to your clan tags. Two nights in a row.

Just had the same problem. It's not BattleEye doing it, it's an admin using BattleEye to do it. It clearly showed a member of that clan requesting that everyone on the server get kicked in the chat area and then BattleEye banned everyone on the server. US 628.
