how do you know it's a 6 man squad? Then again, even it was true that BIS didn't give DayZ enough attention. The sales number of DayZ SA might have bought their attention.

Suggestion: Give Different colors to status descriptions
whatup2003 replied to whatup2003's topic in General Discussion
but you wont keep your inv. open at all times right? you will need the heads-up when you are not checking your inv. I don't understand how does it break immersion? Like when you get uncomfortable irl. You feel it in different levels. When you are slightly hungry and when you are extremely starving, your body gives you immediate feedback. I'm simply suggesting to mimic these feedback through color because you can only receive feedback in a game through your eyes, not your stomach. -
- make arm bands to identify teamates. (different colored clothes makes different colored arm bands) I've seen so much TK caused by lack of identification method of teamates. (voice comm is not always enough, especially in the heat of combat)

A simple and effective fix for night time gamma "cheating"
whatup2003 replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
They need to mix up the day/night cycle first, I don't want to play on real dark night servers every day (I can only play at night irl). Besides, brightness and gamma only make you see a little bit better. turning off shadow can really make you see everything. -
Are screwdrivers/knives still unable to open cans or is it just me?
whatup2003 replied to RyanW1019's topic in General Discussion
Have you tried to drag your screwdriver over the can in your inventory and right click the can? -
Are screwdrivers/knives still unable to open cans or is it just me?
whatup2003 replied to RyanW1019's topic in General Discussion
I heard the screwdriver or knife can't be damaged, or they won't open cans. I had a damaged bayonet and it couldn't open cans after the patch. -
I had no such experience because I always end up on NIGHT servers. DayZ SA is black and grey to me from the very beginning.

[Video] Cuffing a poor soul and taking his blood
whatup2003 replied to sethz's topic in General Discussion
Can't think of why would anyone rather live with such humiliation without the garentee of sparing their lives. Especially in a game. -
Don't forget you can get sick from drinking unclean water. This is only used as a last resort. Pretty much like eating rotten food.

Since the mod, every veteran's choice seems to be: get essentials, head to NW airport for guns. IMHO, this is making the game way to linear. To resolve this I'd like to suggest: - lower the military grade spawn rate in the airport. Make unique drops(maybe not in game yet) non-exclusive to airport only. - bring back heli crash sites(if not added yet) (random location) - add destroyed military convoy sites (random location) - add some more military tent sites across the map (fixed location, at least 1 in each major town) The main idea is to spread the points of interest to encourage people to fully explore the whole map instead of having most of people on a server fight their brains out in one location: the NW airport. EDIT: It seems there are more military spawn locations than before, but still weapons should not be exclusive to military locations or have too much of a significant chance to spawn in military locations. If people need some common sense behind this, think about this: the military forces are mostly sent out to rescue civilians across the whole area, so weapons, military gears are spread out to all the locations. It makes sense, and it helps with the gameplay.

soda can+strip of rug should be able to hold small amount of water. Just saying.

I can agree to this. You have put it better than I did. -
Please make US servers day/night cycle match our time
whatup2003 replied to jessmyser's topic in General Discussion
Server time should never match the real time.. People who has a regular job can only play at night irl. Does this mean they can only play night time in game? There should be an offset to real time. Someone suggest game time 24 hour = real time 21 hours. So people who always play the game at the same hours gets to try different time in game. -

Suggestion: Spread out the military grade spawns
whatup2003 replied to whatup2003's topic in General Discussion
So basically fire station? I was talking about civilian residence. I just so happened to spawn right next to electro. I didn't walk a thousand miles to get there. Geez and I went to cherno later because I need to meet my friend there. -

I'm not rushing them. I just want to push this thought out there in case I forget about it later... -
Suggestion: Spread out the military grade spawns
whatup2003 replied to whatup2003's topic in General Discussion
I haven't played all day long but I have played for maybe 5-6 hours in total. I've been to cherno and electro and haven't come across a single firearm. And the fact there is a lot of M4 in the game really bothers me. It is formally known as Soviet Russia right? There should be more Russian weapon laying about rather than US weapons. I know it's early alpha but.. still.. should added Ak47 or something instead of M4. And there is supposed to be more lower grade weapons even in civilian residents. Being Soviet Russia and post apocalypse and all that. -

Brightness settings at night ruining this game!
whatup2003 replied to industria's topic in New Player Discussion
It doesn't help when it's always night time. When everyone else and their mom uses gamma night vision, why shouldn't I? Must I maintain some internet dignity by keeping it low? NOPE. -
Turning Shadow Play on makes my game starts super slow, and when I alt+tab it freezes for a while. It took me a while to pin-point that it was shadow play which caused the problem. Aside from the problem, shadow play also showed a red line and refuses to record in this game. my card is Nvidia 770 btw

Some settings should be forced on, like shadows, and some settings should be limited, like lighting and gamma max values. Why? Because people who wants to enjoy better graphics shouldn't be intimidated by losing tactical advantages to people who purposely/forced to turn down their graphic settings. Right now when playing in the night, turning lighting and gamma all the way up and turn off shadows clearly make a huge difference. So my suggestion is: - limit lighting and gamma adjustment to 20% of the range as of right now, so if now people can adjust from 0-100, make it so people can only adjust from 40-60. (it's how most of games do it now anyways) - shadow can be set on very low, but never off. (lightmaps are never taken off) Feel free to suggest other settings that you feel should be limited or forced on/off.

Minimum: OS: Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1Processor: Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHzMemory: 2 GB RAMGraphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 or Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 512 MB VRAMDirectX: Version 9.0cHard Drive: 10 GB available spaceSound Card: DirectX®-compatiblethat's a mid-range build for year 2008, which probably worth $300-400 now. And I believe even the min build can run the game in low settings just fine (without turning off the shadow). -

whatup2003 replied to whatup2003's topic in General Discussion
Sure, I know they can't limit gamma in graphics card settings, but at least some games hide gamma setting and limit brightness settings in game. People will always find a way to gain advanges, but if the setting is not directly in game, this number of people would be greatly reduced. And people who said I'm should think about people who has older hardwares. Well, this game engine is from a game released in 2009, which is still not the most hardware-demanding game back then. So unless your rig is more than 8-10 years old, there is no reason you can't run the game with the no shadow, but can't run it with the lowest shadow.
