  1. Hey guys! My friend just set up a server, and we were hoping to get some people on. Either search: Chav's DayZ on DayZ commander or use the ip 146.185.23.130:3272 Some notes on why you should play - Starting loadout with makarov, hatchet, watch and compass - Active Admins - Some extra vehicles and helis scattered around the place! Please check it out guys, there's like four players on atm :)
  2. title says it all, we need either doomy (the owner) or an admin to come on, if anybody knows of anyone who can help please contact them.

    Server Power?

How powerful a computer would I need to run a standard 50 player public server nice and smoothly? In terms of specs such as graphics, processor power ram and storage. Thanks in advance :)
  4. Title says it all really. I'm looking to set up a server hosting company and the first servers we plan on hosting are DayZ ones.
  5. Aah well I can understand their unwillingness to share, perhaps once I have the website setup etc. I can send an email to one of them and try and arrange something, and thanks for the link Be4st!
  6. I always just jog to one of the major cities after spawning, like everyone else says 30 minutes is adequate.
  7. Thanks, looks like I will just need to wait till the release of standalone to get the servers up and running :)

    Will DayZ be Mac Compatible?

I love how you insult macs for being overpriced yet say you would buy an alienware, I had one, it caught on fire, waste of over a grand.
  9. Okay, so I just thought I'd share a recent experience of mine where I was completely unarmed yet able to defeat/scare off a gun wielding player. (TL;DR version at the bottom) I had just freshly spawned in Kamyshovo and was coming up to the warehouse building at the harbour, when I notice someone inside. I immediately take cover and say my usual speil: "Friendly" "Dude? I'm friendly don't shoot" "I'm unarmed" etc. etc. I warn him that I'm coming in and am unarmed but as I poke my head round the door her fires his revolver at me, the shot flying past my head (and just missing) and sending my character into a state of shock. Now I'd had quite an unlucky streak of deaths at this point and wasn't about to be player killed again, so I crouch-ran to the back of the warehouse and hid. A few moments later I see the man with his ALICE pack and revolver proning his way out of the town. I thought to myself that it wasn't fair that he would get off with making an attempt on my life, when some inspiration hit me. I immediately stood up and began sprinting around the town, getting sadly only about 3 zombies agrro'd, and then ran at the man as he was crawling away, my undead legion trailing behind me. He didn't notice me until I had closed a sizeable gap, and he was forced to sprint to avoid the angry zombies. While we were running side by side I opened his ALICE pack, glad to see that you could still run while taking gear, and acquire what little supplies he had inside (morphine food and drink). I then sprinted into the treeline and left the douche to his fate, hopefully he will reconsider attacking unarmed players in the future. TL;DR: If you're unarmed use zombies as a weapon and steal shit from another player's backpack while he/she is running.

    Trading for car.

Pretty sure you posted before saying you were previously banned for hacking? I'm sure all the loot you have to trade is totally legit...

    I'm on a boat

haha back when I had a PBX I had the exact same problem, lost it now sadly. But on the bright side I now have a van!
  13. Well I for one after collecting enough gear am going to organise various in game events, you know emergent gameplay? I think solidifying the community and introducing noobs to the finer points of the game will be more fun than shooting them with my Czz50 :)

    Why this mod is failing

See if banditry was the equivalent of real world bandits in that they would rob people at gunpoint, then this would be interesting! I agree entirely with the original post, we need some more goals in game etc. to help take people away from the snipe noobs mentality that is corroding the community.

    Any DayZ Sanctuary Servers?

Spawning with a weapon is cheating, think yourself lucky you dont get banned.
  16. So, I had recently died and spawned near Solnichniy when I saw something to the right of me. A PBX boat. Being the dapper yaught sailor I am I immediately commandeered the vessel only to have the previous owners fire at me in a display of poor sportsmanship. I enjoyed your boat but it is out of fuel so I am going to blow it up now, goodbye.

Lost the best loot ive ever seen..

"Was sniping in Elektro" I'm sorry but I am glad you lost your loot.
  18. If you look on the Bohemia Interactive wiki you can see that Chernarus as we know it is simply a province of the entire country. I would love the full size Chernarus to be in the final iteration of DayZ.
  19. IRL Information Name: Ross M-S Age: 16 Location: Scotland (UK) Timezone: GMT Do you meet ALL the requirements? If not, which ones are you missing and why?: I believe all requirements to be made, very active and mature member etc. Game Information IGN: Ross Steam ID (if applicable): N/A Desired group role (Medic, sniper, spotter, etc): Designated Marksman or reconnaisance Why you would like to join? What interested you about us? (min. 4 sentences): I am very all very impressed that the group has been able to hold down such a large camp without being destroyed/raided, showing that your members must be very competent. I (like many others on this forum) have become incredibly tired with the kill on sight mentality, I am excited at the prospect of being with a large group with a sense of overall purpose or direction. I also find the notion that there could be something more to the game than cautiously hiking alone, and that I could potentially have a place to call home, incredibly refreshing. I also believe by being a part of this group I would be participating in gelling the community together as a whole, and that is an exciting prospect. What skills / perks can you offer to [GMS]?: Although many people seem to have listed 'sniper' (designated marksman) as a preffered role I believe I am one of the best for the job. My brain seems to have trouble with breaking down the barriers between reality and fiction when playing this game. When I see an enemy my heart rate increases and my pupils dilate, and things seem to slow down, which in reality is my brain reacting quicker to threats. This has seen me out of several successful firefights and makes me an asset to any squad. I am also to effeetively rangefind using the milldots found on several sniper rifle scopes in game such as the AS50, and have practiced my skills to a fair degree. In terms of why I think I would be valuable for reccon it is simply because I have a keen sense of direction, both in game and in real life. However I am not some internet tough man who takes myself too seriously because I'm good at a videogame, and will supply my share of banter when at camp. e Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope if we meet in game it shall be as friend rather than foe.
