    Fort Friendly - Social Experiment

Cheeseburger (Friendly) I carry a Makarov and an Enfield. It would take at least 30 minuiets I think to get down there though.

    Fort Friendly - Social Experiment

I think i'll stop by, I'm up toward the middle of the map and would like to see what a non-hostile player looks like. Any procedures I should follow to avoid getting shot when I make my approach?

    Bandit Camp locations?

The same logic would make policemen the same as the criminals they chase.

FN FAL with 4 rounds, or Lee Enfield+ mag?

Why don't you like the Enfield? I think it's really accurate, good up to 850m.

    Fort Friendly - Social Experiment

How often do you get hostiles? I'd like to come, but i'm not too keen on entering the most death prone area in the game if I have a good chance of getting shot.

    Looking for Mentor

    1. Once The further away from the coast you are the less of a chance you have to run into murders and bandits. The exception being the airfields, and the Western portion of the landmass is more dense with players. 2. Don't travel on the main roads, not only are you exposed for miles but you also make a lot more noise for nearby zombies. The roads are often the primary place snipers watch for victims. 3. Don't siloet yourself. Travel on hills when its forrested, but not on the peak itself and especially not at night. Always be mindful of exposing yourself visually. 4. Mistrust everyone. Not to say go out and shoot everyone you see, but if your spotted by them at range assume they will be hostile. Remember, you scare them just as much as they scare you, they have no idea what your intentions are and the same thoughts are flooding through their minds too. Even worse, murders won't hesitate to shoot you with puts you at a further disadvantage. If your going to try and find someone outside of a clan to team up with, do it early when you spawn. That way you won't suffer such a setback if they do kill you. 5. Once you get a Canteen, it should replace your need for sodas. All you need to do is go up to any body of water apart from the ocean, and fill it up via right clicking on on it on your gear screen. Also, always carry 2-3 packs of bandages and food with you.
  7. Zombies are cute and almost harmless. Murders on the other hand are conniving scumbags with few morals, at least bandits don't shoot you for no reason and many acually let you live.

How long does your dropped items pile stay on the server?

I tried it yesterday and it vanished before my body did. There was no way someone could have found it either. It was about 15 mins.

Confessions - I did it.. Server DC to avoid death

I've DCed only once, I was letting someone with a scoped rifle pass after attempting to call out friendly. I was laying low in a field outside of Electro and had him in my Enfield sights very often making sure he wasn't going to try anything. He finally noticed me and aimed at me. I tried my best to let him know I was friendly, but he just wouldn't take his sights off me. I panicked and DC'd thinking he intended to kill me. No shots where fiered and I don't know if i should feel fine with what I did or not.

I Feel Bad for New Players

I would have loved to have been playing during that time, I sort of like starting out with nothing though.

    Where the helicopters?

I heard a chopper just yesterday, they are not out of the game.
  12. yankee_1776@live.com

I got killed by a server hopper. I quit.

So many assholes are posting.. You shouldn't give up yet, these exploits will be fixed eventually and the community needs as many non-bandits as possible out there. Come back every now and then to look for a patch that might help the problem, or just stay away from highly contested areas.

    Directive 5 Bandits Recruiting!

Killing people isn't banditry, it's just random murder. Bandits rob other people without killing them before they do (whether they decide to kill them after is optional)
  14. yankee_1776@live.com

    Why do Bandits exist?

He didn't deserve to die, and thats not banditry- thats murder.

    Sniping for Fun Isn't Banditry

The bison became endangered for many reasons, least of all those who shot them for fun or sport. Natives and settlers wanted their meat and skins for food and warmth while traders wanted their hides for the European fur trade which the Russian Empire dominated at the time. I don't see any evidence of people shooting them for no purpose or to just get rid of them, it was far too profitable to waste the kill. Plenty of buffalo today anyways, so many in fact that you can buy their meat in stores.

War on banditry!!! Join the fight!!!

How would we distinguish between bandit and survivor?

Then why did you come back to post that?

    The cow that killed me.

I've been shot at, stabbed, set on fire, fallen off a building, and eaten by zombies; sometimes all at once! But this is the first time a cow has gotten me killed. Let me explain: I was strolling through the woods one day in the very merry month of..July, I was taken by suprise by a moo-cow- yet delighted as my blood was quite low. I looked around carefully before dicing it was clear enough for me to slay the creature. I walked up to it and stabed it in the face with my Axe, but to no effect. After about two minutes I became fed up and pulled out my M1911. No sooner then I put two rounds in it's head a zombie ran into me, knocking me down into a state of unconsciousness! I felt disgusted with myself..

    The cow that killed me.

I didn't think so, the cow was a direct reason why I died.

What Music Do you Jam to while playing DayZ?

Why on Earth would someplay play music? Hearing is a vital survival skill in this game, a missed gunshot could spell disaster.

    Punishing bandits? Shut up, seriously.

I'm fine with bandits, but we do need a system that allows us to recognize them. I think that a person who murders another player should have their skin changed into somthing else, or have the player ID TAG "Bandit" after their name for a period of time.

    Using a controller

Controllers are really not suited to this game, much like how mouse and keyboards are not suited for a combat flight simulator. You'd be doing yourself a favor by learning to use the keyboard and mouse for a few days.

I will never be a bandit. Survivor nice-guy stories

It was my 2nd game and I was in Electro for the first time searching for equipment. I was still really new so i became alarmed when shots got fired. The shots rang out periodically, but I kept my head down and searched the top of what i think was a school building for loot when a two shots where fired at me. I quickly climbed down and hid, and eventualy started searching for loot again. After about 5 minutes I found myself wondering North out of town, convinced I had gotten all that was to be had, besides I was getting quite jittery about running into whoever was firing. I got to a small house with a Fence just 100m South of the factory when another shot was fired- only this time it sounded close. It was quickly followed by two others that where directed at me, when another 5-6 came that landed just inches away from me as i crawled away behind the house.. I had noticed that a good 10 people had been killed while I was looting the city, each time associated with a gunshot(s) that I heard. I looked around for the shooter, and saw not one, or two of them, but three of them with rifles on top of the factory- all pointing at th house I was hiding behind! I was only armed with a Makarov and 8 shots and knew I had no chance against them. I managed to sneak away using the house to obscure their line of sight, as well as the nearby tree that I knew should block them from seeing me. After a 4 minuet siege I managed to sneak back into the city and quickly ran South and then West, using the large hill and city as cover. More shots came and more people died, I knew they where bandits from the stories and I knew what it was like to be the focus of their attention. It was when I was a good km away and found an Enfield and 10 rounds for it. I thought, what luck! This was by far the best weapon i've ever found and proceeded away to the West as more shots came from the town, followed by more bodies. Each time I heard a shot fired it took its toll on my conscious, each time someone died from them I thought more and more about going back and fighting them. Eventually it became too much, I remembered an old saying that "Evil prevails when good men fail to act" I took my new Enfield and ran up the other side of the hill. It took me a good 10 minutes to crawl around the factory and get within 600m of it for a shot. I intended to take them from behind from the cover, concealment, and advantages height of the forested hill behind the factory. I was very nervous, I still didn't know just how common the Enfield rifle was at this time and had never used it. They had binoculars same as me, and had likely been far more experienced. They mined the factory so they surely had an ample supply of equipment. I had 10 chances to kill them at 600m away with a new rifle. More shots came and more people died at their hands, the body count had to be up to at least 20 by then, bodies littered the field to the South. I don't know why people kept coming back to that place, many of them had died 3-4 times before and surely knew how dangerous it was. At last my chance came, I lined up my sights and prepared to fire. To my suprise a hopper had gotten close to me, about 20m with more zombies to a barn to my North and forced me to relocate. I chose a much larger hill to the North-East of the factory that was also covered in woods and shrubs and made my way around to it, crawling to prevent them from discovering my location. When I got there however the bandits where gone. I thought they had just been hiding but now I released they had disconnected. Someone had taken accurate shots at them and forced them to DC.

What to do when you come across a dead body...

Depends how close they are to shore. I always scout the area first, they died for a reason, be it zombies or the more dangerous asshole. Once I feel that it's safe enough I'll go take a peak, but i only take what I need if they are close to shore.

    People are horrible.

There is no excuse for this sort of behavior, but unfortunately it seems to be the norm. You sink hours into somthing and know that people can't be trusted, so even honest players think things like "If i don't snipe him, will I regret it later?"
