    Hero of DayZ

How I felt while reading the original post
  2. Alright, I'm absolutely puzzled. I started playing Day Z on Steam a few months ago, stopped for about a month and decided yesterday to catch up on all of the patches I've missed out on. All my files are up-to-date, but (I think) I initially had the wrong Launch Options (-mod=@dayz -nosplash) so this led to a "Bad Version, Rejected Connection" message. At this point a friend of mine suggested that I download the latest Arma 2: OA Beta patch (94444). However, having received the same issue after downloading said file I sought out this guide and followed the steps listed there. Finally, I changed the launch options to: -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@Dayz This caused the expected "Error creating Direct3D 9 Graphical Engine" message, so I did as the guide instructed and verified the integrity of the game cache but now this error message still persists! So, what have I done wrong here? Here are some screenshots of my directories. Here's the Root ArmA 2 OA Directory Here's the Day Z Directory within Specs: Windows 7 Home Premuim (64-Bit) Direct X runtime version 11.0 GeForce GTX 560 Ti
  3. Don't worry, the bandit transitions are being eliminated so I don't think you should register as one now. But you did the right thing in shooting him.

Did i do a survivor dirty????

Yeah, you're in the clear dude. It just feels shitty when you're just trying to survive among your peers but find yourself faced with the reality that you will have to murder someone at one point. As I mentioned in another post, I had to kill an AFK Survivor so I could get his water bottle and prevent myself from dying of thirst. I couldn't wait, it was dark, he had lit up a flare and was standing by the beach. He wasn't responding to text and I was losing blood fast. One bullet to the back of the head with my Winchester and the deed was done. I did what I had to survive but that doesn't mean I'm not sorry about it.

What's Funniest thing you did in DayZ

THAT WAS AMAZING! This just happened a few minutes ago. It was pitch-black and I could see on the blood indicator that I was dying of thirst. I didn't have much time. I looked out from the hillside to see a couple of flares had been struck up by the beach. Hoping for the best, I checked both of them and found a sole survivor named "Gleep" kneeling near one of the Flares. I needed to make this quick, bandits love to check out flares. "Gleep, don't shoot, I'm a friendly. I'm dying of thirst and I need one of your canteens." ... Just my luck. He was AFK. The way I saw it, I didn't have a choice and I couldn't risk waiting for any other survivors or bandits to show up. God knows where the hell the nearest water pump is, especially in the dark. I raised my winchester and fired a round into the back of his head. I searched his body, took a couple of pistol magazines, a water bottle and two cans of food. "Did you just kill him for his water bottle?" Someone had heard the shot, way off in the distance. "I didn't have a choice, I was dying." "Well played." Yup... Killed an innocent man for his water bottle.
  6. I've been having the same problem. I started playing Day Z for a couple of days but for the last hour I've been receiving a recurring "BattlEye: Client Not Responding" message after a few seconds of gameplay. My files are all up to date as well.
