It's just the OA beta. I've tried 3 different versions. The base games work fine. The weird thing is the beta works when the run_beta .cmd is executed.

    FPS Crippled After Today's Updates

That's cause its Alpha, man. Its not supposed to be an excuse. Every time there's a BETA update, thats BI updating Arma, not DayZ. Every DayZ update, that's Rocket trying to fix bugs and improve issues. The thing is, with something like this, every one thing you fix is gonna give you another 10 bugs. That's probably a generous ratio, too. Its just the way it is, don't expect stability for a long, long time.

    FPS Crippled After Today's Updates

Try out OA in single player and see what happens there. Guessing the FPS issue is attributed to the servers, since about half a million people have just downloaded the new patch and want to try it out on already over-loaded servers.

The only thing that seems slightly out of the norm is that when verifying OA's cache, 2 files always fail to validate (3.5kb total) and doesn't seem to change after they're downloaded.

I got defensive since that was how you came across.

Erm, pretty sure I just used / in the OP for convenience... all file paths in system, of course, use \. You wanna take a potshot at my grammar, too?
  9. Well, I joined another server after updating to 1.7.2.4, updating to latest BETA and updating BattleEye and I can now see the changes I've been making. A good test is to run Arma2 OA (without DayZ loaded) and go into SinglePlayer mode and select Editor (this is also a great way to get in some safe practice). Start yourself up a new mission in Chernarus and try it out. My FPS was perfect there, and after trying it out in DayZ, it carried over. I'm now running 60-120 FPS, as I should be. Now... to get rid of this crossfire flickering! Make sure you have a look at that guide I posted. Other than that, keep your Video memory on default, change those config lines in your profile folder to =1 (as you did) and try other servers. Hope you manage to get the experience I'm getting now!
  10. I'm sort of watching this thread, too. I don't know whether its down to the server you use since that is a massive part in FPS. I've tried everything in this thread apart from changing cards/GPUs, which I really shouldn't have to since this is a gaming laptop. I run crossfire so I understand there are problems with that but not in terms of FPS. The strange thing is, no matter what settings I use the FPS seems to stay the same, maybe with a 10 or so drop if I'm using totally maxed on everything. I can run high all and still get the same rate as I do with everything turned off or on very low. Video usage is on default. Really seem to be out of options. Its kind of sad that I have to put up with 20-30FPS when I should be getting at least double, if not triple that. The new update seemed to make it worse. http://pastebin.com/F7Q8Ne2i Don't know if that link will help you out. It didn't help my FPS but it was nice to get more of a view in 3rd person.

Maximize Frame Rate On DayZ and Arma2 - Low Frames Fix

Tried it, no noticable FPS increase... I still struggle to stay around 30fps. Its ridiculous, even changing all settings from low to high and visa versa still gives me the same FPS. I don't know what to do. Such a poorly optimised engine.

Maximize Frame Rate On DayZ and Arma2 - Low Frames Fix

I've got 2x Radeon 5870's in Crossfire so I'll try this out tonight and let you know.

    M4A1 CCO

Yup, got one in my backpack for whenever my AS50 draws unwanted attention. Had to kill a guy in a tractor for it, mind you.

ArmA 2 OA has stopped working

I'm getting this only running the BETA shortcut. ARMA2OA works fine as it is, but running the BETA for DayZ just gives me this message. If I delete and reinstall the BETA, it works for the next play session, then goes back to crashing. What do I do? I thought using the BETA shortcut was the only way to launch DayZ? If the BETA is now redundant, how do you launch DayZ and why is it crashing?
  15. Aw, another disappointing update... it seems changing the icon for the game, as shown above, makes BattleEye freak out and won't let you connect due to unknown game version. Balls!
  16. Whoops! The icon change does work, just not when the game is started and the BattleEye thing does its thing. Snazzy!

    Can't search gutted animal

Yeah, its happened to me a fair few times, too.

  19. Unfortunately, I tried changing the icon for Arma2OA.exe and although it changes the icon that shows up in your game folder, it doesn't change the icon in your taskbar when the game is run. Bummer!

  21. A preview for anyone curious:
  22. Only works for the current session. That option will reset itself when Steam is started again.
