    Day Z Wallpapers

I'm not taking any credit for this whatsoever but this site has some fucking gorgeous wallpapers on it. I don't know who the artist is but he needs a fucking hand-shake. http://imgur.com/a/goXyG
  3. You seem to misunderstand. Randomness is good, you're right. But they definitively do not feel random. Between 1-3 hits, I'm either knocked down sleeping or have my legs broken. Couple with their new higher damage and hearing they have went from being nothing more than a minor annoyance to several instances of certain death. I'm cool with taking zombies out in a fair fight and I'm cool with dying to them. I'm even cool with the super-punch as long as its done right. Right now it feels like its an 80% to be dead after a zombie gets the jump on you.
  4. Totally, totally this. The formula for this "random" status seems to have gone through the absolute roof in this latest patch, with zombies punches as well as nerfed guns.
  5. Yeah, exactly. I don't want to appear fickle in the sense of: "Too easy... Too hard..." but I was in full support of a zombie boost and encouraged it at patch release. When I said that, I hadn't really had enough experience with them on the new patch to really justify that outcome. They really do seem as if just one zombie could kill you now if you let it get close enough and even then it can bug out with a super-arm. I don't have a problem with giving zombies more oomph or the feature of the unconsciousness/brake-leg hit, my problem is with the regularity of the latter. It really needs to be toned down. They are honestly providing more trouble for me now than players do, being that when they get a rush on me, I'm near helpless. I do encourage more grouping persuasion but you should still be allowed to play solo. As it stands, I honestly don't think I'd even survive a trip to Polana on my own.
  6. Sort of embarrassing to die like that but all I had was an Enfield and really was going there just for the fun of it with only 5 people on the server but things took a turn for the worst. I had around 9k blood when heading for the barracks. Had a few hits on me that took me down to 8k while I was messing around. Got myself bandaged up and grabbed an AKM before heading for the barracks. Just as arriving there, I had around 10 or so zombies tailing me and from the 3 weeks I've been playing I know that if you just keep running or get to a building, you're fine. I preached in the threads about zombies not being overpowered, agreeing the pistols needed a nerf but perhaps not that much and that you can still sneak around zombies and the added power was a bonus. However, I was only aware that they had their hearing fixed, not some other kind of boost? While I was running, one managed to get a stretch-armstrong super punch on me to break my legs, and as I proceeded to morphine myself my blood went from 8k to death in literally 5-7 seconds. I'm not trying to cause a stir here. I was running out in the open generally quite carelessly and didn't pay the zombies much attention, as the same as in 1.7.2.3. It did, although, quite surprise me of their amazing luck of leg-breaking capabilities and the speed of which that managed to cane down that much blood that fast. I really couldn't do a damn thing. Was it just the hearing that was fixed or did they get some extra spice?
  7. But really? For newbies? I respawn and can't do a goddamn thing. I have went from saying "zombies need a boost and this is great" to now going so far as to say they're overpowered.
  8. No worries. Worked for me in both of those places. :)
  9. Currently it is, or at least, it supposed to be. The (x) figure is 9000 blood, but have had reports of it happening at full health. Its also supposed to be random, hence this thread, since it definitely does not appear to be random at all but certain doom.
  10. http://pastebin.com/F7Q8Ne2i In that order. They worked for me.
  11. I don't feel bad about the death at all since I wasn't trying to be cautious or sneaky at all. It just really surprised me at the rate I went from fine to dead. I know its based on blood levels and that there's a % chance of a zombie breaking your legs or doing other nasty things. But I can honestly say in my experience, that is dying from around 5-10 times due to Zombies, it really feels like if you're under 9000 blood and you get hit by a zombie, you're totally fucked. Can anyone else provide their experiences? It doesn't feel like that 'random' percentage is all that random of a chance at all.
  12. Huh. I wasn't aware of that. Certainly would explain how they tore me to pieces so quickly. At my time of death, I could only see 2 or 3 zombies at my body, therefore within range of their melee. Are there any tables or statistics of exactly how much damage they do now?
  13. Just wanted to confirm that I just tried this again and it definitely works.

    This gave me cancer

Yep. That was sort of the point to what I said. They sort of look like they wanted to come across as a go-to place, and well...

    This gave me cancer

Pretty sure he was complaining about the noises zombies make. Sort of officious.

    This gave me cancer

Erm, didn't Rocket say that they weren't zombies or undead, but infected? Might wanna clear that up.
  17. All good suggestions but think of how you would actually implement that. A log-out timer puts massive strain on the server - most of the time a server undergoes too much stress just trying to make a character log-in or to create a new one. Think of the performance as it is now and whether hindering that even more would be a good or a bad thing. After you've thought about that, stop, and think about it again. Apply this tenfold to having a character left in-game or a 30 second timer! Rocket wanted to implement this feature with a 5 second timer but even that was too much. Consider all of this and then consider just exactly how you would define player vs. player combat, as a person let alone a machine. Bullets within a certain radius? Could have been one of your friends. How would the system check this? Getting shot by another player? Another check to add each time you log out. Being around people? Shooting your own gun? Can you see where I'm going? You have to anticipate all of these variables for what would define something as circumstantial as engaging with another player, and then you need to make the server check for this every time you log in and out. I don't want to put a damper on your parade, but this really isn't realistic with the engine/mod/servers we are dealing with. It just wouldn't work without heavy optimisation, not to mention money.
  18. Both times that happened to me, video settings had nothing to do with it. My video memory is always on default, because that's the only way you can have more than 500mb video memory thanks to this wonderful engine. The map and tab technique is the only thing that's worked for me, 2/2, but I don't have much experience to test it in other places/situations. Hopefully someone else can try this and report back.
  19. One thing I've found to work for me is to press 'M' in-game to open up your map, alt-tab to windows then switch back to the game, press 'M' again to close your map and you'll get the 'Receiving...' message, then everything has been fine. Works even if you don't have a map. That's only something I've tried though, but its worked the two times for me that it appeared, at the Starry tents and NW airfield.

    SG#500 hacked.

    Nope.
  21. I supported all changes made in the weapons balancing apart from a couple. The lower end pistols were pretty heavily tuned down but I do think this is necessary for some sort of 'progression' base in gear. The Enfield nerf was whole-heartedly welcomed and very much hope it either stays the same or gets lowered even more. Not being able to kill a zombie with a revolver headshot, however, is a bit much. Regardless of weapon, a headshot should be a 1HKO. My zombie kills read 3 and my headshots read 4. I was quite surprised. Sure, its medically possible, but come on...
  22. Walk up to a supermarket and get scared shitless thinking everyone walking around it is an infected zombie. Catch a reflection of yourself wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses and think you're back in the game. Feeling as though you have to keep looking around in fear of being taken out by a sniper.
