  1. Your problem is that you are searching some of the most high traffic areas in the game. Vybor is even a spawn point, obviously there won't be loot in most cases. Stop running between Vybor base and NWAF. That was 0.54 Stop following the train tracks from Novodmitrovsk to NWAF. Stop running in the footsteps of everyone else and you will find loot.

    player interaction 0.55

Before the patch, people would KoS because they were bored. Now people KoS because they have to.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

The loot system will probably get tweaked. Having to run from the coast for 30 minutes, while drinking from wells and looking for apples isn't that interesting. Certainly not every time you die. I'm OK with loot being sort of hard to find, and not handed out, but it is kind of ridiculous right now. Sidenote: Police stations seem to be packed with MP5 mags and RAK's. Since yesterday I have come across several police stations full of ammo, with the surrounding town being picked clean.

the reaction to mass amounts of zeds worry me

Difference between H1Z1 and Dayz zombies is that in H1Z1 they move in predictable patters, and doesn't break the laws of physics. I like how the zombies are in dayz now. They just need to be less buggy and tone down the run speed of them a little and we are good.

    This is a survival game

Zombies are harder now, but they aren't a big deal 1 vs 1, just stock up on bandages and rags. Don't forget to switch to 1pp and aim for their head. They are only really a threat when you are low on blood from no food/drink.

Loot is extremenly broken at the moment

Loot is indeed kind of weird. Like an hour ago I spawned north of Kamyshovo. I ran to the police station, and found 6 MP5 mags, a RAK with 1 x 25 round mag and 1 x 15 round mag and a bunch of random police/military clothing. Then I ran to Elektro and at the police station I found even more MP5 mags and clothes. City itself was picked clean. And yesterday me and some friends were at the Vybor military base, and the barracks and camo building were just packed with gear, to the point where your computer would slow down. I am talking 20+ weapons in each barrack alone, and boots just being lined up like your in some Hollywood walk in closet.

    Spamjoining full servers

I'm mostly talking about 50/50 servers, which are already under stress. There are quite a few very popular servers which are full 24/7, and having a chance at playing there means spamming "Enter" to get in. But so are a lot of other people. I was wondering if spam joining full servers have any sort of negative impact on the performance of said server? Have the developers considered using the same kind of "que" system that Source engine games use, where it pings the server for a slot every 10 seconds instead of every second manually? Would make getting on a high pop server less of a hassle.

    That's good to know. Cool.

    Where is everybody?

Dude, get off my nuts, I was explaining the current state of the game, not complaining in the slightest. Save that cute shit for someone that cares.

    Where is everybody?

With gear spawns being changed, everyone is forced to head further inland unless they wanna die of starvation. I don't think there is any hotspots right now. I just came from a full 50/50 server, and didn't see a single person, or hear s ingle shot when doing the usual Kamy > Elektro > Cherno > Ballota run.

Is PvP & Atmosphere Dying in DayZ SA?

What you are talking about here is due to the field of view, which can be adjusted. This is also why many modern FPS which are developed with the console market in mind, have the exact same problem with it being harder to navigate inside buildings and around stuff, because the view is slightly zoomed in because console players sit on a couch away from the TV. I find 1pp a very cool and interesting feature in this game, with how you can move the head and such. A lot more immersive. It also makes combat a lot slower paced, and people aren't camping corners and high walls. I don't play it tho, because none of my friends choose to, and one of them does YouTube videos, so 3pp suits the audience more. I honestly wouldn't mind if 3pp were completely disabled, but a lot of people would. I dislike the gameplay 3pp promotes, where you can scout locations and spy on players without them having as much as a chance to even see you. That's bullshit in my opinion but it goes both ways. You also have much better awareness simply by the camera being a little higher than eye height.

    Let's talk performance.

I build my current PC back in early 2011 the week the GTX580 came out. Dayz on 120GB SSD GTX580 1,5GB i7 950 12 gigs of 1600mhz ram Asus Sabertooth Game runs "fine" in cities with the usual .cfg tweaks, ParkControl and LPManager, on a mix of medium/low settings with all the pretty settings disabled. Not optimal, but it's playable. I'm not sure of the actual fps, but probably 20-25 which I am more than happy with considering people with beast rigs running it worse. Out of the cities it's 60+ for sure.

Is PvP & Atmosphere Dying in DayZ SA?

This "atmosphere" you are talking about is simply a combination of the gloomy and bleak visuals of the ArmA 2 engine, and the sound effects. Nothing more. Also, nostalgia. The game was new, mysterious and fresh back then. Nobody will be able to recreate that feeling for you.

Impact of 3rd Party Comms (TS3, VENT, etc.)

Nothing can, will, or should be done about third party voice communications. I am one of those players that roam around in 5+ man squads, looking for other squads to take out. This is because the clumsy and tactical nature of Dayz is entertaining. Having to rely on ingame voice communication would make it impossible to be coordinated, not to mention actually locate each other in game. Not everyone plays this game to get fully immersed. I have logged too many hours to care about that anymore.

are duping and hack issues fixed ?

Honestly, I have played aloooot of multiplayer games the past 20 years. The hacking in DayZ is not worse than many other games, especially free to play games with much smaller budgets and a joke of an anti cheat client. There is hacking going on in this game, but it is not as bad as people make it out to be.
  18. I have been wondering for a while exactly what makes Standalone so demanding. Especially in the cities. Let's be honest here, the game doesn't look THAT good, yet it runs terrible. But at the same time Arma 3 runs a lot better. I thought it was the same engine, what gives? My specs: i7 950 GTX580 1,5 GB 12 gigs of ram Running everything on a mix of medium and low settings @ 1920x1080, shadows off, all kinds of post processing and anti initializing off. Running in the countryside gives around 40-50 FPS, which I am happy about. Going into any of the larger cities reduces my frames to around 15-20. Being in an area that has those big soviet era housing projects completely shatters my FPS, and drops it to a slideshow of about 5-10. Not exactly optimal. I have tried various cfg's, but nothing really helps. What exactly makes the buildings so taxing on my system? I realize the game is a work in process, but I just can't get over how badly optimized it seems, for a game that doesn't look that great. I also realize my graphics card is almost 4 years old at this point. I don't expect to run at high settings. Don't get me wrong, I love the game and play it daily. I put up with the low performance, I am just wondering what the reason is for it.

    Chernarus in Real

Nice thread. It's pretty common for game developers to draw inspiration from their environment. I remember in the first Hitman game, the developers had literally taken pictures of the sidewalk in Copenhagen, and put it in the game. Was pretty funny when you spotted it in game and knew where it was from.

    New backpack?

I've found them all over the place. Just playing for about an hour last night, and i spotted at least 3 on the ground. Apartment buildings in Novodmitrovsk, with those small garages attached. I came across 2 players, also in Novo that had one each as well. They seem to be quite common, at least in this build.

    DayZ...Now a Dry County?

I think I have drank from wells a total of 5 times. It's a non issue when food and drinks are so easy to come by, especially inland in the less visited villages.

What exactly qualifies as server hopping?

It's when you camp out an area, and keep switching servers until you get the desired loot. Chosen servers are often empty, so there is a bigger chance of loot still being there.

    Playstyle Poll

I would probably consider myself a variation of Hero and Neutral. If someone asks for it, I will help them with food and bandages. I never KoS people, unless I have a solid suspicion that they are gonna do it to me. Examples could be camping rooftops or apartment windows overlooking high traffic areas. If i turn a corner and come face to face with someone else, I always start out friendly. I don't instantly present a weapon, although admittedly that get's me killed a lot. I just don't find the bandit KoS pgame very interesting. The gunplay is not that great, there is no such thing as keeping score, and you have no idea who you just killed, or any way to talk to them. It's a very lonely playstyle. Most of their gear gets ruined after shooting them anyway. Running to an airfield, gear up, hop server, gear up, run to Berezino/Elektro/Cherno and shoot people until someone kills you, again and again just gets old quick. edit: i just posted twice in this thread, silly me lol

We need a Hardcore (aka Survival) Mode

Only thing I wish is that third person camera was completely removed. Not a server option, completely removed, as in locked in first person view. That's probably gonna turn a lot of people off, but I really dislike the fact that firefights in general comes down to exploiting the camera angle to look around corners, or over walls. People would be forced to use lean a whole lot more, and you wouldn't run around wondering if some guy is prone on a roof and watching your every step from complete safety. I know it's never gonna happen tho.

are duping and hack issues fixed ?

I have run across people that is blatantly hacking, and does not try to hide it a few times in the past few weeks. In all instances they have been using this hack that makes your character drop all gear on the ground. Personally I have not encountered any sort of speed hackers, no-clip or teleportation hacks, but I know they exist. ESP hacks like wallhack are difficult to spot in a game like DayZ.
