    Binocular Zoom

In real-life most military binoculars are zoom binoculars. Zoom binoculars exist in real-life for civilians as well, and are quite cheap in comparison to their increased usefulness. It is highly probable, with all the dead military around the DayZ map, that military grade binocs are circulating. 1.) Zoom Binocs: It would be nice if we could zoom in and out using the binoculars. The zoom intensity appears to be 140x, which is useful is only a small amount of situations. I believe zoom binocs exist in ARMA 2. Having non-zoom binocs, makes it so that I rarely use binocs, but I'd love to use them all the time! 2.) Nightvision/Zoom Binocs: Usefulness x2, and also realistic and common among military grade binocs.
  2. During Rezzed, Dean "Rocket" Hall officially announced that the infected in DayZ are being considered zombies. A question came to my mind as to whether or not DayZ should adopt (or merely leave the option open to players) whether DayZ zombies should be the George Romero walking zombies or the Danny Boyle 28 Days Later "Rage" running zombies. I came across an interesting article on the Guardian, written by Simon Pegg, co-creator of one of my personal faves, Shaun of the Dead. He personally believes that the undead shouldn't be allowed to run (full version here) (Also, see new example of slow moving zombie animation in another ARMA mod below): "I know it is absurd to debate the rules of a reality that does not exist, but this genuinely irks me... zombies don't run. The speedy zombie seems implausible to me, even within the fantastic realm it inhabits. A biological agent, I'll buy. Some sort of super-virus? Sure, why not. But death? Death is a disability, not a superpower. It's hard to run with a cold, let alone the most debilitating malady of them all." "Zombies are our destiny writ large. Slow and steady in their approach, weak, clumsy, often absurd, the zombie relentlessly closes in, unstoppable, intractable." "...speed simplifies the zombie, clarifying the threat and reducing any response to an emotional reflex. It's the difference between someone shouting "Boo!" and hearing the sound of the floorboards creaking in an upstairs room: a quick thrill at the expense of a more profound sense of dread. The absence of rage or aggression in slow zombies makes them oddly sympathetic, a detail that enabled Romero to project depth on to their blankness, to create tragic anti-heroes; his were figures to be pitied, empathised with, even rooted for. The moment they appear angry or petulant, the second they emit furious velociraptor screeches (as opposed to the correct mournful moans of longing), they cease to possess any ambiguity. They are simply mean." "The Japanese video game company Capcom developed the game Resident Evil, which brilliantly captured the spirit of Romero's shambling antagonists (Romero even directed a trailer for the second installment). Slow and steady, the zombie commenced its stumble back into our collective subconscious." "Inspired by the game and a shared love of Romero, Edgar Wright and I decided to create our own black comedy. Meanwhile, Danny Boyle and Alex Garland were developing their own end-of-the-world fable, 28 Days Later, an excellent film misconstrued by the media as a zombie flick. Boyle and Garland never set out to make a zombie film per se. They drew instead on John Wyndham's Day of the Triffids, as well as Matheson and Romero's work, to fashion a new strain of survival horror, featuring a London beset by rabid propagators of a virus known as "rage"." "The success of the movie, particularly in the US, was undoubtedly a factor in the loose remake of Romero's Dawn of the Dead in 2004 with the upgraded zombie 2.0... desperate to satisfy the MTV generation's demand for quicker everything - quicker food, quicker downloads, quicker dead people." "The genre was diminished, and I think it's a shame." I personally think that zombies should be walking in DayZ as both many will agree and disagree. The question is, since we can all agree to disagree on whether zombies should be walking, shouldn't it come down to server preference? The Romero zombie threat could be offset by an increased amount of zombie count in the server. Which would make it just as difficult. As you aggro zombies in a realistic fashion, say 50-100m out, you're attracting a lot of attention, that attention draws more zombie interest, and, let's say, during your looting, the intensity of quickly looting becomes an issue, since THEY are coming! The zombie attention also draws player attention, etc. The walking zombie still becomes a real threat, especially in HUGE numbers. Running zombies in DayZ are arguably more annoying than threatening. The ARMA engine arguably would allow for more realistic portrayals of Romero Zombies than Rage Infected. And, since we aren't calling them infected anymore, should we even follow a "Rage Infected" style zombie? That all being said, should servers be allowed to choose? The difficulty of the DayZ mod doesn't stem from zombies alone anyways, it stems from player vs player and environmental survival. The zombies are just the trimming. As Rocket also said at Rezzed, "DayZ is a survival simulator, zombies were always just an interesting way to draw attention to a survival mod, much more interesting than say peak-oil." Walking Zed won't diminish the constant heightened threats of DayZ, at least no more than the rising hacker community, at least with a server choice between walking and running Zed, at least we're having fun. :) Well, what do you think? 3. Is anyone else having issues with huge massive polygon's taking over the screen, sky, etc... when looking in certain directions in certain cities?? I've never had this problem before the current beta patch... I was just by Stary Sober and NW Airport and each are wiggin' out like crazy! Tested diff servers and same issues... I can confirm that my friends are experiencing this issue too....
  4. Don't hope too much... have you seen the ONLY other game that the WarZ developer has made? HORRENDOUSLY BAD LOL

    So, DayZ is being remade?

If you're on the forums, answering people's questions, with incorrect answers, in a rude way...? Your parents didn't raise you properly mate. Keep your perspective.

    So, DayZ is being remade?

Standalone will use Arma 2 or Arma 3 engine, which is ostensibly the same engine. Also, don't be such a douche.

i feel bad about this :(

    I stand by that ;)

What the hell is going on on US 244

Dude... most servers are like this now...
  9. Was teleported to same location as they were killing everyone. Every server I join, hacking is very prevalent Don't join this server!.

i feel bad about this :(

    ugh. You're so dumb.
  11. Have you not been given one by hackers or hackers leaving them around??? They're everywhere!
  12. No source directly, but you're telling me that within 6 months (as stated by Rocket, as he wants a standalone *mod* out by Christmas), that they're going to develop a brand new game from the ground up, in another engine that can support maps of this size? NOPE. I can 100% guarantee you that this will be a ARMA 2 Mod. It may be an Arma 3 mod though, but guess what? Arma 3 uses the exact same engine with better graphics on top. Arma 3 STILL USES BATTLEYE. Not to mention that if Rocket expects to start taking people's money, and cheating is this rampant still??? You can expect there to be massive lawsuits, especially if it's a free2play/MMO like scenario based on micro transactions. What happens when the servers are hacked/attacked again and all of our credit card info is stolen? Lawsuits. What happens if player items are stolen by hackers that people spent hard-earned money on? Lawsuits. What happens if an MMO character account is stolen and/or ransacked by hackers? Lawsuits. Rocket doesn't know half the shit he's getting himself into. Too big for his britches. Once you start taking people's money, shit gets real, and Rocket's eyes are covered by rose tinted glasses if he thinks that he's not going to be sued.
  13. You think standalone is going to be better?? They're using this same engine and.... BATTLEYE. Hacking will remain in this game. Standalone or not.

IF this was an actual game...

If Arma 3 mod, I'll buy Arma 3. If not an Arma 3 mod, I won't buy Arma 3. If a standalone, not more than $30, since I've already spent $30 on the alpha... If anything F2P, maybe, but purchases would only affect cosmetics, and ZERO HACKING PROBLEMS. If WoW style, also ZERO HACKING PROBLEMS, as well as 1000km2 map and 1000 player servers.
  15. I'd say unless you're hacking or know a hacker, it's not worth playing.
  16. You must really suck at this game if you're claiming that the stats you quoted can only be achieved by cheaters LOL LOL Nigga pleaaasee.....

    Sniping elektro with the AS50

Seriously man, stop smoking weed. You sound like a retard now.
  18. Are you douche or something? Can you only talk while asking rhetorical questions? Do you need your mother's nipple to suck on?

Weakest hack I've seen so far.

I wish Bro's would die. And only bro's say bro... I wish you would die.

    Take out .50 cals

I've been playing this game forever, and I just found my first AS50 this morning!! WOOO!! I think I found it on a dead sniper/hacker :)
  21. Mourn and sulk with me... Actually, it also appears that the server killed us all, then shut down?? Is this a known server issue?
  22. Does anyone know when servers are allowed to run new maps on DayZ? There are so many awesome maps, built-in and on Armaholic, and would be very fun to try out some new ones :) I could even see a map building community growing around DayZ rebuilding real life metropolitan areas, or suburban, USA. Wouldn't that be amazing?? Small Town, USA, complete with suburban tract housing, strip malls, real malls, parks, etc... My mind is reeling with ideas!!

What Graphics Card Should I Choose?

New nvidia drivers installed today, so we'll see how that goes :) I've been reading that if you use frame targeter in PrecisionX it's better than using VSync on performance. So I'll try that too.
