    Mountain Dew???

Yea we have found a few mountain dews in the group, and it is always a bad luck charm. We get shot soon after, a bug hits the guy with the dew, a hacker appears. Bad things.

    Servers need to be regulated

Arma 2s netcode sucks ass, yes, but the majority of players do not have much issue connecting to most servers. I would just suggest to not give up and keep trying servers until you find one that works, possibly trying servers in other countries as well. As for the Bolivia and wood comments, it was a serious question. Some people live out in the woods in the middle of nowhere and have terrible connections that they may think are good, but are actually not up to games like this. Some of my friends get less than 100 kb/s and one of them gets upwards of 25,000 ping. Also the game rapes resources even on amazing computers if you read the forums, so it does not need to be made from wood to have trouble with Arma. Anyway I'm off to eat food. Good luck with the desync thing, hope you guys manage to figure out the problem at some point.

    Servers need to be regulated

No I was asking if you are sure that you and your friends internet connections are up to playing the game properly. If you have issues on that many servers then something is likely wrong, unless you really do just have luck so bad that you keep picking bad servers that often.

    Average Zombie Kills

My last character had just under 1100 zombie kills before I was taken down by someone who server hopped out of a building to get to a vantage point behind me. I normally get at least 200 or so before I die at least. A few characters have made it past 500 but not many. Only that one has managed to make it to 1000.

Kick on Connecting on most but not all servers

Well despite knowing that he is not cheating, I know from past experience that with the logs shown there this will not be turned around. Thank you very much for taking the time to finally help us solve the issue.

Kick on Connecting on most but not all servers

What was the ban for? What does setting markers even mean for a ban? Also is there anything we can do about this, or is he stuck banned from almost all servers? As I said he got the message "Banned for the setting of markers" once when attempting to join a Russian server, but he did not even get to the list of players. Clicked join server and got the error right away. Also since he has always had the problem there must be another problem underneath this one. Although if we can't get the ban taken care of the other problem does not currently matter. Thanks for the help so far though, its nice to finally figure out what part of the problem was. Now I need to figure out how it all happened.....

Kick on Connecting on most but not all servers

The end of April would have been about when we started playing, yes. But when he started playing on the 30th he already had this problem. The very first time he started the game we spent a half hour finding a server we could all join since he had so many he could not enter.

Kick on Connecting on most but not all servers

He has been up for like two days without sleep now so he is getting off to go sleep, but here are the servers he managed to get so far. Not many, but some =/. Can connect to: us 34 seattle seattle 77 alanta 20 Cannot connect to: us193 de 95 us418 US alanta 68 Not as many as you wanted, sorry. Maybe you know something about the BattleEye ban error that popped up for jskibo though? Why would he have been banned before he even had the game? How can he join some server but not the majority if he is banned? We know for a fact that they are running BattleEye, so shouldn't he be banned from them all? jskibo said something about some servers not running the updated list of banned users from Tonic? Again, why would he have bee banned by Tonic before he even had the game?

    Servers need to be regulated

Do you all live in the middle of nowhere? Do you all happen to have bad connections? Are your connections too slow for the game to run on properly? Are you sure it is desync and not lag?

    Am i doing something wrong?

If nothing spawns at all there are several reasons: 1. If someone logs in inside a building, the closest loot spots will not spawn any loot. 2. The server is crap. 3. Someone is collecting tin cans. 4. Bugs Even if it is tin cans, there should always be loot at loot spots.

Kick on Connecting on most but not all servers

Well jskibo was kind enough to provide me with his console logs for when Aceshooter tried to join one of his servers and was kicked. For some reason this is what he got: 9:20:45 BattlEye Server: Player #5 Aceshooter (X.X.X.X:2364) connected 9:20:58 Player Aceshooter connected (id=14952838). 9:20:59 BattlEye Server: Player #5 Aceshooter - GUID: f0db022e291f756199bf6dea4e91a152 (unverified) 9:20:59 BattlEye Server: Player #5 Aceshooter (f0db022e291f756199bf6dea4e91a152) has been kicked by BattlEye: Banned (Setting of markers... ) 9:21:00 Player Aceshooter disconnected. Why would he have been BattleEye banned for setting markers before he even owned the game? He has had this problem since the very first time he tried to join a server. Also he is kicked from most servers, but did one time get a "You were banned for the setting of markers" when he tried to join a Russian server but he never actually got in.
  12. wolfgang784

    Am i doing something wrong?

No, I just know what buildings to enter which I told you and when I am a fresh spawn I join a server with less people so that there is sure to be loot.

Kick on Connecting on most but not all servers

He said he will go do that now. He is going to write down all of the bad ones as well as the good ones while he is searching for ten good ones. We have a few written down already that he can join, but not ten so he will need to go join a bunch for a bit.

Kick on Connecting on most but not all servers

Thanks for the thread thing. Also no, installing it on a different computer is not an option. He only owns one computer and does not have access to any other computer that could run the game.

Kick on Connecting on most but not all servers

Yes, among other things. This is actually a duplicate thread to the other one you are currently replying to, Vipeax. He decided to make two, one in server and one in troubleshooting, since we have made several threads in the past and gotten zero replies. Sorry, since that is likely against rules, but we would like to solve the issue. Also thanks for the help so far.

Kick on Connecting on most but not all servers

Yes his beta installation is up to date, his DayZ files are, and everything has been checked by me. All of his stuff concerning DayZ / Arma is perfectly the same to my setup. He has tried updating all of his drivers and such just for the hell of it and lots of other random things to clean up his computer in case any of that might have been causing problem. He has reinstalled BattleEye several times and no it is not a steam install. He got it from Amazon when it was on sale for $15. He has unistalled hamachi and any other programs that do similar things and reset his router to default factory settings last I checked, but I will ask about that when he gets back. What is your server name jskibo, and I will tell him when he gets back from being AFK in teamspeak and we'll see if your server is one he can join or not. EDIT::: Hm, my friend told me your signature is "Co-Admin of US193 and Chicago 112 (MrWinkies Merry Men)" but for some reason with the new forums I do not see any signatures.....weird. I have it enabled. Oh well.

    Servers need to be regulated

As Jimmy said, simply use the filter. Find a lower cap server, less than 100 ping for most of you, join. If you get stuck at any screen give it ten minutes to load. Some of the best servers have a ten minute loading time initially but are awesome when you get in. I love them because it weeds out a lot of people. Also a lot of the connection problems should die down in the next week or so. After each new patch it is always MUCH harder to log in because the 100,000 people that left due to bugs or being bored are now all back at once to check out the new patch. Also don't forget that 50,000 that just joined from seeing DayZ at rezzed / on their favorite game information website and the 50,000 from youtube videos in the last week. EDIT::: Wow, fast posters. Just saw the ping stuff. If it is that low, then keep trying low ping servers that have a lower player cap but people. If the server has less than ten people then it likely does not work.

Kick on Connecting on most but not all servers

Anyone? There are no error messages or notices, he is simply kicked. "You were kicked". That is all that it says when I am in the server before him as well, just "Aceshooter was kicked" and that is that. With no error messages of any sort to go by we have not had much luck researching this problem, but would love to have it eventually be fixed so that he can log onto more than a handful of servers.

    Am i doing something wrong?

I have not tried freshly spawning with the new zombies that supposedly run indoors or with the new visibility, but here ya go. 1. Find a lower population server (less than 20) with under 100 ping to you and join it. 2. Spawn near Cherno. It is normally full of players, yes, but the lower pop. servers are full of people looking for cars or server hopping for gear generally. 3. Use the visibility meter to help keep you safe and ALWAYS crouch. Do not stand up, ever, at all in a city unless running from zombies. 4. Depending on which side you spawned in on either head to the closest corner store or the grocery store. The grocery store looks like a single floor white square with lots of glass windows on one side. The corner stores are two story with lots of glass up top with three entrances on the ground level. One into a store, one into a house type area, and then the back door. You can find guns upstairs and backpacks behind the steps. The grocery store is the same, guns and backpacks. If you are having too much trouble, try crawling a lot if you have to until you get a sidearm and ammo. I heard crawling isn't really useful with the new visibility meter, but try it. 5. When you have a good four magazines you can be a bit less cautious if you want as you hit up all the corner stores around Cherno. You will eventually find a double barrel, winchester, CZ550, or enfield. The CZ550 is useless to you and the double barrel will only be useful while you search for an enfield or winchester. The winchester is the gun you really want as the ammo is more plentiful and it is much quieter but the enfield will do as well. 6. When you have a sidearm, any sidearm, ammo, a primary with ammo, a compass, map, matches, hunting knife, hatchet, and at least 3 food and 3 water you can leave Cherno. If you have a map at least but are not finding the rest you can leave early if you really want and try to find your way around to another town with a grocery store (basic supplies are plentiful there) then do so. 7. Congrats, you have now survived the newbie faze.

    Wilderness :( :( :( ....Can i get out ?

As long as you have a compass there is no reason to respawn. The map has ocean to both the east and south, so as long as you run either east or south you will hit something eventually. I recommend south east.
  21. wolfgang784

    Rollback?

I really doubt that they even backup character data very often if at all. The ban lists and core information for DayZ to run, sure, but backing up actual character data seems like more of a waste of their time and resources. If you lose everything so what? It takes an hour to get good gear again. 1. Respawn till you are in Cherno. 2. Run to the grocery store and get an alice pack and a side arm. If there is not one there, then check those corner stores behind the steps. 3. Check corner stores for basic gear. 4. Go to the fire hall and the army tents for an automatic gun. 5. Now that you have basic gear head north, hitting up deer stands while looking for crashed helicopters. 6. You are now back on your feet.

what do you do when you get bored?

Here is my copy pasted post from another thread similar to this one a while ago. You look for even more satisfying equipment. Get NVGs, rangefinders, GPS, frags, coyote pack, ghille or camo depending on your liking, get a good close range gun that two shots a player and keep a high powered sniper in your backpack such as the M107 or AS50. Find an m9 SD and ammo for a good sidearm but make sure you head shot since its weak. Find the perfect inventory setup that will support your needs perfectly in any possible situation. After that find a server with vehicle spawns and find the one that suits you best. Fix it up, get it running, repair all the windows because they block bullets from certain guns, and so on. Get a tent or two and fill it with everything that you need to fix another vehicle and to survive without that one and keep stuff in the vehicle as well. Due to DayZ being an alpha the tents and vehicles like to vanish, so make sure you can live in the vehicle without the tent and fix another vehicle if you lose the vehicle, and always keep your inventory good enough that if all should fail and you lose both then you can survive. After that it is up to you to find something to do. Do you want to find an M136 anti tank rocket launcher? Collect vehicles? Kill yourself and start over, possibly choosing a new play style to challenge yourself and liven things up? Also find friends to play with. The game takes on a lot more when doing rescue missions in your car, fighting snipers in cherno with them while you try to get out safely, defending them from a hoard of zombies that just don't seem to ever stop because your ally's legs are broken and you both are out of morphine. Its a sandbox game and you do what you want in the end, but those are my recommendations to keep you going for a while and provide some good entertainment.

    Dayz and Ramdisk

Internet connection had NOTHING to do with actual FPS at all whatsoever. That is simply not how computers work. Before you freak out I will start with this. I know people with connections of less than 100 kb/s and they play on 150 person Arma 2 servers and 60 person DayZ servers perfectly fine. If your internet connection is terrible enough you will lag, but your FPS will never change. That is lag from the internet and is fixed by getting a better connection, however the "measurement" for that, rather than FPS, would be your latency/ping. If your ping is rising really high then you will experience internet lag. However if your FPS itself is low, and you experience lag in single player where the internet plays no role whatsoever, then either the hardware or software is at fault or a combination. If you search these forums you will notice that people with systems similar to or better than your own lag in this game. It is server dependent to a point, and the game is TERRIBLY unoptimized. If the game was coded correctly everyones FPS would be 100 higher than it is. For instance I am running this: AMD Phenom II X6 3.3GHz 6 core (stable OC up to 4.2) Dual HD Radeon 6870s in crossfire, both with 880MHz core clock and 2GB VRAM 16GB DDR3 1600MHz crucial RAM a good 7200rpm western digital caviar black HDD Before I moved my internet connection was 3 MB/s and now it is between 500 kb/s and 1.2 MB/s and my FPS is exactly the same, because it makes no difference. However despite that system I only get between 30-50 FPS most of the time. 60 at my highest sometimes, and as low as 10 on some servers. If the server does not properly clean up old loot piles, player bodies, and zombie bodies it affects your FPS terribly. The major cities also wreck it primarily due to the large ass amounts of tank traps, wire traps, and barricades that litter the streets and block off all buildings. I have tried running ARMA 2 with parameters set so that it knows I am running crossfire, knows I have 6 cores to use, will use up to 2GB of RAM instead of 512MB as default, and have changed some settings in the files that do not have a visual change in game but are known to increase FPS. None of this helped me much because the game simply does not work well with some and my components and it is terribly coded. Look around and you will see hundreds of people complaining that ARMA 3 better be optimized better so that everyone can actually play it as well as they should be able to. To sum it up: Internet connection is eight times the speed you need to play, computer is fine, and ARMA 2 was simply coded by first graders. Lots of people have problems that shouldn't but we need to deal with it till ARMA 3 comes out.

    Dangerous locations to go.

I never see anyone in most of the large cities really, just Cherno, Elektro, and Berezino for the cities. Also NW airfield and starry as you said. I would also add any of the surrounding fields in starry or novy since people are camping the fields recently a LOT for helicopter crash server hoppers. Devils Castle isn't a place most people go to more than once or twice, but by the time people make it up there they usually have decent gear. I personally have only met someone there once, and he had an M4A3 CCO non silenced. Tried to put 40 rounds from my MK into his head but he logged out too quick. EDIT::: The post above mine is pretty nice and sums it up pretty good. Rather than just dangerous areas it layers them out. Seems about accurate as well.
