What's up with the loot spawning?

Watches everywhere and not a single compass in six respawns. -
Do you think people will still be saying 'its JUST A BETA!' a day before release?
Dramatic Exit replied to PinkTaco24's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We better create some sort of diety to explain this. A church to spread the word, prophets, priests, them sexy priestesses... This could be awesome. -

Obviously improving things during development is impossible, and a perfectly formed games just pop out of the fucking ether. I see. <_< -
A serious question for the PvP-phobes
Dramatic Exit replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For quite a long time I was an admin on a freelancer server. It was the official server for a mod called Discovery Freelancer. The mod is set up for a roleplayed environment. People would take a specific role, talk in character and so on... There used to be a lot of complaining about "pvp-whores" and "people not thinking in roleplay about who they were killing". arguments raged, people got pissed off, People get precious over their own fiction, and their own experience of the game. That's understandable I suppose, in that essentially everyone plays games or writes fiction for their own benefit above all else. To a certain extent DayZ is the same. People are playing to create their own story, to generate their own experience in an environment which is handily made by someone else, and they become strangely protective over how they think it should be. When things happen to that player which do not fit into their view of how their experience should be, they get hurt. They find it hard to deal with stuff which isn't on their terms. This comes across as butthurt when people bitch endlessly about it on the forums, because that's exactly what it is. But at it's root, it's only people trying to protect their way and their view. 'Tis that wonderful human nature they talk about. Tackling it has to be a two-pronged thing. - Being more considerate of other people's playstyle and wishes. Now that doesn't mean being passive and bending over backwards to accomodate people's totally arbitrary whims. But just not doing stuff like dick-killing random freshly spawned dudes on the coast with a sniper rifle from some place they can't even see, for no gain of your own. - Not being so damned precious about your own playstyle. You may not want to get shot, but hey... The environment created facilitates shooting as a choice players can make, and not shooting as another. Given that choice in a multiplayer game environment, a large number of folks are gonna take the shooting option. That's fair enough by my book. -
20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection

YES Worth the experiment. If it doesn't work ditch it. Only issue is, most kills come from a mile off. -
This guy's last thread was him raging about finding a car and gtetting shot when he was close to repairing it. I'm gonna love to see the rage when he repairs his chopper and crashes into the hotel in cherno.

Also, a buddy of mine accidentally shot me in the back with a DMR at point blank range while trying to check what was in my bag.

Rolled sideways off a roof in Elektro, while trying to get eyes on some dude who was looting the firestation in town. Nobody's fault but my own. Not a bug, just outright stupidity. Also, holed up in a general store, hit F a couple of times to switch to throw a tin can to distract some zeds, saw a grenade pop out of my hand, bounced off the glass of the door, blew myself up.
-
What an absolutely wonderful thread. It's like a ray of sunshine and happiness.

That's not so much a firefight, and more you shooting at someone. There is quite a difference. A firefight would imply it was more of a two-way affair than that. Furthermore, I really don't think anyone would change controls while a zombie is beating seven shades of shit out of them.

Strange thing about ping to your chosen server.
Dramatic Exit posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Now, a few of us who have been playing together have run across a really strange thing. The higher your ping to the server you connect to is, the lower your frames per second. For example, connecting to US 138 - I have a ping of about 90ms. My frames per second drops to something close to 15fps. If I connect to a UK based server, I have a ping of 16 to 20ms, and my frames per second heads back up to about 50fps or so. Is this a known issue? It's highly frustrating for those of us who chose to play together, because we're from all over the place. I'm from the UK, some people are from the west coast of America, one of us is in Latvia, one Dutchman, and an Italian. This means we generally try to play on east coast american servers as it is more or less the midpoint between us. We all get a a ping which is higher than we'd like, but it's workable and playable. The issue with FPS dropping in accordance with ping rising is something we've only noticed over the last few days, and it seems downright weird to me. I fail to see how my connection to a server has anything to do with my computer's ability to run the game. -
Strange thing about ping to your chosen server.
Dramatic Exit replied to Dramatic Exit's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am well aware of the fact that your ping essentially measures the time it takes to send a signal to and from a server. That is something that is more than clear to me. What I fail to understand is why that makes the blindest difference to my framerate. Seeing things jumping about, players, NPCs and so on, while the game in general continues to run perfectly normally... That is what I would expect. Walking around in the middle of nowhere and getting very choppy framerate just looking at the scenery with nobody else around, just because my ping is high, is not what I would expect. Your ping (time it takes for signal to reach server and then get back to you) has an impact on things which move or their position is determined by the server. You would essentially be behind what is happening in real time on the server. Cool. That has an impact on pvp and pve, because the stuff you are shooting at is not where you think it is. That is a different issue to the whole god damned game running slowly on my machine while connected to a server that is a distance away. -

Dumbest thing ever..
Dramatic Exit replied to Pathfinder (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hey man, that's fine... I forgot I had a grenade in my inventory once, thought I'd just switched to throw a tin can at a window... Turned out to be a 'nade and my buddy was standing right next to it. I had just about enough time to yell "Shit... Donny, RUN!" while running around the corner, while Donny said "what?" then blew up. Never picked up a 'nade since. -
Or alternatively, a crowd-sourced circlejerking nightmare. These are not the "beans" you are looking for.
-
To perfectly illustrate the point, the OP should give himself beans. Also, the possible wall of innuendo just struck me.

Myself and a friend of mine were scouting around a little in Berezino. The tow was empty, or so we thoughts. Looted a few supplies, an ALICE pack for my friend. Hit the hospital, the military camp and a few other places. We took it carefully, knowing that even with low population, there could still be someone around... But we were well armed. I had an M16 M203, and Donny was carrying a FN FAL. We finally wandered back to one of the supermarkets. We'd been there a few minutes earlier, but decided to return to pick up the tent we had left there in the back room. Feeling confident that there was nobody around, we strolled into the supermarket. Complacent move, and stupid. Two guys... Both well armed and geared. We paused for half a second, staring at one another across the shop floor. "Duck" I yelled in skype to Donny. We dived to the side just as they both opened fire on full auto, managing to get some cover. For a few seconds, the shop was armageddon... There was a FIIIIYAHFIGHT!!! 5.56 rounds flying across the short space between our position and theirs. It happened too fast for anyone to be aware of what was going on. The few zombies from the back of the store stumbled across the line of fire, providing an accidental meat-shield in both directions, before dropping to the floor as the gunfire exchange continued. I fired a full mag before I went down. As the smoke cleared, I found myself unconcious and bleeding. Donny was dead. I knew that one of the two guys had taken a round to the head, and wasn't gonna be getting up again. I could see the other one on the floor, his head poking out from behind the counter. He was in the same state as me. As I came around, knowing I wasn't going to have time to bandage before bleeding out, I heard his last words... "Good game, bro." And with that, four men passed to the great lands of respawn.

If the wiki is correct... Tents are permenant (on the server on which they were set up) while your character is alive. They disappear six days after you die.

Server list, and some related questions.
Dramatic Exit replied to Dramatic Exit's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
US #NY199 hasn't yet updated to 1.7.2.3, which means that at present I'm locked out of a tent which has a fair bit of gear in it. NY13 keeps crashing, by the looks of it. It's been down for some time, and I have no way of getting news as to whether it'll come back or not. I've been using > this < to keep track of servers which I've been playing on when they disappear... I've also googled the names of those servers a few times, and found really very little, with the exception that a server on the same IP as NY13 is hosted by "Africanized Bees", but no contact information or the suchlike. I'm playing on east coast US servers, despite the fact I'm living in the UK, as it's a mid point between myself and a friend of mine who is playing from a the west coast of America. But we've had some rather unfortunate luck with regards to placing tents on servers which just up and disappear, or don't update to new versions...
