I'm moving to Pusta, actually. -

I've requested service before, and I don't think my friend even has a gun yet. We will probably hold up in the chapel. I'll put my gun down or any other precautions that makes the medic comfortable. It's his terms -

Can I get some blood (transfusion, cooked meat, whatever) at Mogilevka? I was attacked at a downed chopper. I will have a friend with me, so do not be alarmed. PM me if you can help out. I'll probably confirm that you are a trusted medic first. -
Which launcher should I try? I just installed both games and run Arma 2 and Arma 2:OA individually as administrator (nothing more than that in the instlal process), which do you guys think I should use?

Six Launcher vs. DayZ Commander
tatortodd22 replied to tatortodd22's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
So you wouldn't recommend letting Commander or Six installing it? -
You'll probably need more credibility before doing this. Overwatching both sides who have never met you before? Not too many are going to agree to that. Not to even mention being paid for it!

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
tatortodd22 replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think this is one way to help stop the crazy PvP in southern cities. Up north it is expected. Players with good loot, experience, and patience have some epic adventures up north, but newer and impatient mainstream players are looking for quick kills or action, so they lure bait snipe and own in electro and cherno because of high population driving away new players. Making the game more difficult, exciting, or terrifying may give them enough action to prevent early PvP spamming, until they've mastered zombie survival and move up north for good stuff and better fights. -
Okay. I'm getting frustrated. I've tried installing the game all day, and have had every common installation issue in the book with Day Z, and have reinstalled everything several times over. I'm working with Steam and just reset my Alienware M14x to factory settings last night. I'm going to be starting fresh tomorrow after work. How in the hell do I do this properly, avoiding all possible problems with installation, starting from square one, downloading Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA on Steam. I purchased ARMA: Combined Operations. Lord help me, and if you can help I'd appreciate that too. :) I started having trouble with the most recent BE install and that's when I reimaged my laptop. Are there any new steps that I haven't heard of since then?

I manually installed DayZ, reinstalled Arma2 and Arma2:OA this morning, ran the most recent beta patch, downloaded the dayz files and put them in the right directory (@dayz folder in the OA directory, and addons within that). For some reason, @dayz isn't appearing on the righthand side of my main menu. And I am running from the beta .cmd. Any suggestions? Should I try a launcher? And which launcher works (I think Sixlauncher is broken)?

ArmA2: OA Error upon startup

I have the same problem. I deleted local content and re installed, but the problem persists. It's only since the recent beta patch that I've had this problem. -
But its in every zombie movie, pretty much, lol. One could also argue their senses be dulled due to the rotting, but it seems that in some movies their senses are even heightened.
-
I love this. Kind of gives a small penalty for pking. An understandable, realistic, slight penalty.
-
Its a server specific condition. Sort of like some allow third person and some don't.
-
This. I agree about making survival harder, but not to the point where new players are frustrated out of playing due to difficulty instead of pking. That's not what we want. I had some trouble starting up a few days ago just because I had so little to go on. I searched every little nook and cranny instead of prioritizing my loot searches, avoiding cities, etc.

That could be terrible? But I like the sound of it :D -
How to end Ganking, and support Honor [ v ]
tatortodd22 replied to Arainasc's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Someone elsewhere suggested that positive humanity give you say, a medic skin. Many rewards could be implemented. If the dogtag system was implemented, you could pay a ton for the medic skin, or you could simply earn it the way you earn bandit skin (by humanity difference from start of the game). -
Well, this could end very badly.
tatortodd22 replied to Razmatazz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd also be up to be security detail for a medic, PM me if you want. Also I suggest joining one of the groups. So long as you get someone to vouch for you on their respective thread, the group should take you in under their name, and you'll get more requests. -

I think that your reward ideas, increased difficulty, and perhaps the consideration of a safe haven. A spawn area without friendly fire. Its an idea that I haven't thought out but it could possibly give players a chance to team up, gather some loot, before going out and engaging the hell that Day Z's social experiment makes us realize: In a zombie apocalypse, zombies are far lower on your list of dangers than you think. I also think people should be less attached to their gear. With this mentality, there may be less revengeful mindsets when we get killed, and if we care less about what is on us, we would be more likely to risk greeting another player than shooting him. -
Tatortodd22, here. I just got DayZ within the past week, and I am loving it. I haven't had many bandit encounters (I got sniped once) but I can't imagine my having a taste for that. I've never gamed for the satisfaction of killing, mostly for exploration, socialization, and completion (which Day Z has a lot of). I am looking for a tight group of friends to game with, which may or not be a clan. I do want to play with a game style with more to the thriving than the surviving. I want to help other players and aid them. Perhaps giving people rides, medical supplies, spare food, etc. If it were the real apocalypse and I had the surplus or means to obtain that surplus, I'd do what I could to help others. So why not do that in game :) PM me if you'd like!

Server Hosts are really wimping out....

Once you've got sources of light and some friends, its fun! It's even scarier because you can't see much but everything can see you lol -

Yeah. The night is terrifying. I think the time should simply match the time of that time zone. Gives the rush of traffic just enough time to find a weapon or some light before night time hits. you know? Like its a terrifying but fun part of the game. -
I had this idea at work: what if some of the bigger clans and groups from Survivor HQ (I don't trust those bandits round the campfire) all got together for an open house of sorts. It could be a mass recruitment event for all the groups to come together and advertise, mingle, and perhaps establish friendly relations (for instance, a fighting group agreeing to be security detail for a medic group). I thought it would be cool to have this secret and protected party (sodas, chemlights, roadflares, flashlights, and a DJ providing reason to lean back and forth all night). The event could be held in a secret location only disclosed to those who meet the security detail for the party (probably taken care of by one of the groups participating in the open house like the Walking Militia) and are escorted there once safety precautions are followed. Not only would it allow a recruitment opportunity for both large and small groups and clans to introduce themselves to each other and new players, but I can see it being a huge blast. I can just see a pitch black night in DayZ, with this big warehouse or hangar filled with crazy lights and a ton of people hanging out, with like 7 snipers in ghillie suits and night vision goggles hidden, providing security. What do you guys think of the idea? Details like security precautions and location can be settled if/when enough support is shown.

Zion Rave/Open House for Clans
tatortodd22 replied to tatortodd22's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And The Situation drunkenly hits on her. There would be a decent perimeter set up. Anybody coming in the town or area would be stopped and asked for an invite or shot kind of thing lol -
Zion Rave/Open House for Clans

Not with enough creativity and trustworthy help. Almost all of the groups attending would have their names and reputation on the line, I think they could be trusted. The only thing I think would be a concern is attendance. Hell, for security, people's guns could be held by guards until they leave. Its an understandable precaution lol.
