HDD isn't really imortant. I've seen builds with 15TB HDD and builds with 64GB. (You can also use an SSD, which loads programs faster and is only really used for your OS.) Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Arma2 benefits from a fast HDD/SSD. Is it not why setting up a ramdisk is an advantage? I'm thought I read that somewhere before. But to somewhat answer your question, my $2000 AUD computer struggles to maintain a decent framefrate at times.

If you can hold out for a bit you might want to go for one of the Intel Haswell processors coming out later this year.

As the title states is anyone thinking of upgrading to this? Benchmarks suggest that 2 gtx660ti's are somewhat close to it in performance for a lot less money. However 6gb of memory is a nice overhead if you run hi res or highly modded games. Any thoughts?

Will run it but its not a very balanced system, 16GB of 1333Mhz ram with a older generation Amd graphics card, not the best combo bang for you buck wise. You could build much better for nearly the same amount of money.

Imo get a 660ti. When you overclock it you with get close to a stock 670 performance. Go with Asus or MSI, they seem to run cooler than most other brands. Stick to 8gb of ram and use the small amount saved elsewhere on the build.

If you are happy to keep that monitor and not upgrade anytime soon go for either a 7770 or a GTX650, anything more would be overkill. However, if you think maybe in 6 months time you might want to get a better monitor go for the 7850/7950 or GTX660. "Smooth Graphics" are not always possible in DayZ/Arma2. I'm running 2 GTX680s on a 1440p monitor with a 3570 overclocked to 4.6GHz and sometimes the fps drops in the 30s in the cities.

You want something bigger than the average monitor with high resolution? You're probably looking at about 27" upwards right? If you don't care about 120Hz go for a 1440p monitor from either Asus or Samsung, but you're going to need to spend a little bit more than $500 (not much more though). You could also look at one of the Korean hi res monitors such as the Catleap which will be a bit cheaper than the well known brands. Depends what resolution monitor you have and what graphical settings you're hoping to run. If only 1080p go I'd go for either of the last two. Do you intend to SLI or Xfire down the track? (psu requirements). Also consider the Nvidia 700 series cards won't be far away. You might want to keep the $500 difference of the system cost up your sleeve.

Recently came across about 20 or so tents In the hills west of Lapatino. Excitement soon turned to disappointment as not a single one had anything in them. I never seem to find anything good in tents, better off just risking it at NWAF.

With those specs you shouldn't have lag. Try a different server if you haven't already. Have you tried regular Arma to see if it lags as well?

There are many variants of the original ArmaLite design, to say that a M16a1 is exactly the same as a AR15 is inaccurate.
