  1. I think it could be helpful if who killed who was logged, but not displayed in game for all to see.   3. I just want to throw my two cents in here. Private server aren't connected to the hive. All inventory to my understanding is controlled by the hive. So, if a player creates a private server, gathers up a bunch of loot, and then decides to go to a public server. They should spawn in with nothing (as the hive has no data on their character). So honestly, other than the though of players using a private server as a way to test and develop exploits, i see no probably with a private server.

    Admin controls?

    Set an admin password in your server.cfg file. When you connect to your server (in lobby) click on Server Control. Type in your admin password (you will be logged in as admin). You can now: Chat to your server globally [Hit > until global appears, hit / to bring up the input box. Note: players cannot respond to you] Kick/Mute players [Directly from lobby, or hit 'M' for map, select player list and you can highlight the player you want to kick/mute] Shutdown/restart your server [Directly from lobby, or hit 'M' for map, select server control] There's also a rcon tool you can get for ARMA II (works for Dayz). Put in your server details and you can manage a lot from there as well, including server bans.

    lack of servers recently?

    I would guess these servers aren't keeping up with the latest updates. It was announced that all servers needed to update to the latest 1.7.2.4 with a Beta release of at least 95389. Server admins were given a 36 hour window to get updated before they would no longer talk to the hive. Probably aren't being listed anymore either. Server admins will have to update their servers to show back up and be functional again. I for one am glad this has happened, far too many servers not updating. Edit: On that note, be sure you're playing on servers with at least a BETA release of 95389. If you do join a server that's not up to that release, it will not sync with the hive. Meaning your character will not be saved, and all progress will be lost once you leave that server.

The chat log is what pisses me off the most, which is where they're openly talking about screwing over other players, teleporting them, etc. I'm permanently banning them from my server, I hope the DayZ team will ban them from everything.     Rebooting should fix everything on your server except for players that died. Tents, vehicles, ect. should go back to the way they were prior to the attack.

    If more info from the logs are needed, or from other logs, I can pull the info. Not sure what to look for or pull from arma2oaserver.rpt log. But it looks like it would have more information to show what these two were up to, I just don't know what info is relevant and what's not. [Huge log file]

But we need help from other players as we are not always on when this happens. This will keep these particular script kiddies off of my server. Some notes for future if you decide to continue playing this awesome alpha Always gonna have some script kiddies / hackers Log out immediately if you get teleported somewhere Use applications like FRAPS to be able to take screenshots and/or video when something happens No proof, it's like it never happened Luckily these two script kiddies were dumb enough to type in direct communication. Otherwise my logs would be generally useless. That's why screenshots and/or video proof is essential.

  12. Just seen the post put in my thread this morning. Looking into it now, but wouldn't be the first time we've had a hacker on our server. I'm hoping someone got a screen shot or something. Looking through the logs to see if there's anything I can use to backup their stories. (Seems like all the Kansas labeled servers are being hit)

    Alright guys, we'll keep an eye out for them and I'll see if there's anything in the logs I can use to have them dealt with. Did you guys happen to get any screenshots or video of this? I would recommend installing FRAPS for this very purpose. Keep in running in the background and it's easy to get quick screenshots and video when things like this happen.
  14. I need to get some feedback from other players to confirm, but everyone else I've heard from confirms this fixes the issue. Update to the newest BETA release, 95417, and be sure to play on a server with the latest patch installed. Been to the airfield and military tent sites and haven't had a problem since. Someone post here if this also fixes your issue or if you still have a problem after installing 95417. [Can join US 863 if you need a server that has the latest BETA installed]

    Six launcher won't grab a Beta patch until it's approved, so sometimes it's behind by a few hours to a few days. I have no idea if it is grabbing 95417 yet. That's why I recommend using Dayz Commander.

    Some other ways people have fixed it: change video settings to default (didn't work for me) Update to latest BETA update 95417, and play on a server with latest BETA installed. - Worked for me.

    First off I'm siding with a fellow server admin, read this post: http://dayzmod.com/f...u-need-to-know/ 2 - Understand what powers admins have. We can: - Lock the server - Restart the server - Password the server - Restart the mission in-game - Kick or ban players As the server admins WE are paying the costs of server hosting, and we have ever god damn right to password protect our server as we are making changes (ie updating) and testing out to make sure the server is ready to go. There have been times I've password protected my server for the exact reason this server admin mentioned, so I don't have to listen to the bitching of players that keep joining just for the server to be restarted again. If a server you play on restarts, comes back up password protected, I'd say 95% of the time the admin is updating and testing to maintain a GOOD server. Wanna complain about something? Complain about the servers that don't update, never restart, or have been password protected for WEEKS.

    How is the score calculated?

    I was wondering this myself. In game score is based on number of kills, but on sites like gametracker, especially if you keep stats on your server, it keeps a running score log. Not sure how it's calculated though because it's greater than the sum of your running score(s) between deaths.
  24. I'm setting up a webpage to go with our server we recently started hosting. US 863 Kansas City. I'm trying to make a php script work with the DayZ mod so that anyone can bring up this webpage and see if the server is running, how many players are on, and what version its currently on. I'm trying to use LGSL (Live Game Server List) which is typically used by clans that have multiple game servers they want to list on their clan site. I just want to list our 1 DayZ server, but I haven't had any luck getting it to successfully work yet. Anyone else setup anything like this or maybe can point me in the right direction?     Online Server Monitor

    That is awesome, thank you for pointing this out! I'm aware Gametracker.com works fine, I just added our server to it. It actually annoys me more now because I know it should work but there's probably an issue with the code that runs LGSL. So I guess I'll either have to manually update the code for LGSL or write myself a webpage that reads the XML file for me.
