Hello, I am one of the admins of the server. Usually we require some kind of proof for bans, so a screenshot would be nice. However, I've had other reports of this player. I'm issuing a ban on this player. We appreciate you playing on our server and hope you continue to play on our server. For future reference, you can contact the admins of this server directly by joining our mumble server or email [email protected]. This is a much faster way of contacting us since I only check the forums once every other day or so. You can get our mumble info from the global chat in game (about once every 10 minutes or so) or by clicking the link to our official thread, that's on my signature. -
We have been hosting this server for a few weeks now. Figured we'd start up our own thread for people to talk about our server. Any issues you've seen, cheaters, glitches, etc, tell us about it in here. Server is hosted in Kansas City, KS, and it stays fully updated as a 50 man server. Anyway some things you should know about our server: Recently upgraded our server with a SSD as the primary drive. Server runs awesome even after running for 48 hours straight! Admins: dazoe, red_404, melted349(myself) Our admins to not abuse the server. We give out at least 10 minute warnings for server restarts (unless a script kiddie is on our server) We give our 3 day bans for the following: Battle Logging (Alt+F4ing when being shot/shot at) Teleporting (Switching servers to change your position, usually to kill another player) [*]If you have an issue with our server or an admin, contact us! There are 3 of us, if one of us did do something we shouldn't have, another admin will step in to resolve the issue. Contact us via email: [email protected]. [*]Don't teleport (we see this, we will kick/temp ban you) [*]Don't Alt+F4 when you get shot to avoid death (we see this, we will kick/temp ban you) + possibly chase you down to whatever server you hop to to finish you off Dying is part of the game, accept it. [*]We generally update our server as soon as we release there's a new beta patch or update release for Dayz (so keep your clients updated) - We use and suggest Dayz Commander [*]If you have a problem with something we have done, take it up with us first. Give us a chance to resolve w/e problem you have before you try and report us or our server We keep logs of logs. If you did something wrong and we kicked you, you report us, our logs are likely gonna make things worse for you, not us. How were you killed? And when you say you lost everything, you mean the gear you had on your character? That is lost when your character dies. Tents and inventory inside of tents should still be there unless someone has found it and raided it. -

Server upgrade complete. Added a new SSD, and the server seems to be running better and stays more stable longer. -

Server is going to be offline tonight until our hosting company completes a hardware upgrade. We are having a SSD drive added to our server. This will hopefully boost our performance. -
global ban lifted, then banned again?

What a troll... BE seems to be ban happy lately. I run a server and have mumble running. I know of 3 players that regularly played on our server got global bans. These are players that I've had to help walk them through installing the latest BETA patch, not really the type capable of finding and using scripts to cheat on a server. All the same, global bans. One person mentioned they used a program similar to peer guardian for P2P software he had. He thinks that might have been the reason he got his global ban. BE is bragging through their MOTD in BEC about hitting a 10,000 global ban mark. Kinda hard to believe that in the 10,000 global bans there aren't some false positive bans in there. -

I destroy buildings all the time with Satchel Charges. I try to wait for players to run into the building first though :) So true lol -

Pretty decent idea but I can see the downside to a player who might aggro some zombies, starts running around and then their game crashes. Now this player is getting owned by zombies because of a game crash. Perhaps a slight adjustment to your idea, when shot (regardless of damage) you go into shock. If you leave game while in shock, you will be knocked out for 5 minutes upon logging back in. This is one attempt to fight combat logging. But maybe adding the 30 second delay while in shock? This doesn't stop players from combat logging when you shoot at them and miss, but hey be a better shot. My personal fight against combat loggers is a warning message in my server and 3 to 7 day bans for players caught doing it. Sure they can go to other servers, but they are kept away from my server for a period of time. -
Troll... Stole from a bug report thread (truncated down to the important stuff) Ghillie suits still have known bugs. Just cuz it didn't / hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean the bugs aren't there.

I think this is funny shit. And I think there are a lot of whining children on here. Anyone calling out the 0 zombie kills 0 murders, obviously has never put on a camo or ghillie suit. After change clothes, and log out and back in, your score will return. This is only a temporary glitch that affects your debug hud only. The server still tracks your kills like normal. This has been a bug for awhile now, so either you're just being a little shit, or you don't pay attention to anything. Players in this game is starting to sound as bad as the devs of BE. I run BEC on my server and they are so proud to announce their 10,000 global ban mark. While I'm sure most of those are legit bans, I know of 3 different players that don't have the knowledge to find or use scripts to cheat in this game, or to do anything that would justify a global ban yet they've been globally banned. Sniping is part of the game, sniping unarmed players is crappy, but still part of the game. Which is why I'm gonna guess most players on here know better than to hang around too long in cities (because someone is probably going to shoot you). Anyway, enough of my rants. This video's purpose was to show off the irony of another sniping logging in next to him. It was entertaining, you have my beans.

Sometimes my rcon will stay connected for 20+ minutes. Other times it could last less that 15 seconds. Like I said, it's a fault with using UDP packets and no keep-alive packets. Causes the disconnects. It's something all the server admins that use rcon have to deal with.

RCON doesn't have keep-alive packets. This causes it to randomly disconnect. Annoying, but it's still a useful tool.

How so? I'm still trying to figure out the timeline so I can find out from the other admins if the server crashed or if it was restarted for maintenance. But I have no other reports of script kiddies. -

Well I am one of the admins in of US 863, and you know what pisses me off the most about your post? We have an email ([email protected]) and a mumble server for you to contact the admins about crap like this. Secondly, we never shut down the server for crap like this. We ALWAYS give a 10 - 15 minute warning about server restarts (unless the server crashes, which does happen). But since you obviously never noticed the global message that pops up EVERY 10 MINUTES on our server that tells you how to contact the admins, then you probably never noticed a restart warning. Another problem with your whining post is that you didn't include any names of the players that were in the vehicle, you didn't tell me what time this happened, and you included no screenshots, no proof of your claim, nothing. Just whining. There are times script kiddies get on our server and do crazy things, sometimes this causes our server to crash. There are times we will do an emergency shutdown (when script kiddies are teleporting people and killing them), but that will always be announced first before the shutdown. Simple put, neither myself, or the other two admins of 863 would ever shutdown the server because someone shot us out of a vehicle. All of the admins and some of our friends all died trying to fix a helo and take off in it, we didn't shut down the server because of it. We play fair, we keep our server fair. Shut your mouth, you obviously haven't played on our server or joined our mumble server we host for our players. We go out of our way to reach out to the DayZ community to provide a great server to play on. And we have lost several vehicles over time, restarting or shutting down the server is never something we do. Yes, it should be dealt with in a serious manor. Admins that do abuse their server should be shut down. And there are admins out there that abuse the server. But we're not the bad guys. The jackass that started this topic didn't even provide the names of the players they killed. You saw three murders? Awesome. Who were they? (Admins are myself (melted349), red-404, and dazoe) I was gone all weekend for USAR Drill, and I'm gonna bet none of these murders was either of the other two admins. It so funny, how apparently us admins shutdown the server to save our vehicle, yet we let you back in to torch our vehicle. Oh right, because this isn't a case of admin abuse. Just a case of a whining child that didn't pay attention to warnings about a server restart which just happened to be shortly after you shot some people. Someone else mentioned something about know who the server admins are. Well at least on our server, every time an admin joins there is a global message announcing it. There is always a global message announcing our mumble server and our dayz email ([email protected]) that you can contact the admins directly. You want to accuse me or my fellow admins of abuse? Back up your claim with reasonable evidence. I'd like to think we run one of the few decent servers out there, but players get butt hurt over the slightest restart and throw out claims of abuse when they are the ones that don't read the global messages, don't attempt to contact the admins directly themselves. You are the ones that should be dealt with. And if I wasn't a decent admin, I'd track you down in my server logs and ban you. But that would be admin abuse, and we don't abuse our admin rights on our server. -

There are several items script kiddies spawn in that are not allowed in the game. But since the script kiddies are bypassing BE, they avoid the bans. One of them dies, or saves their loot in a vehicle ect. Unsuspecting player comes and to grab the loot, uses it... BAN. My advice for other players that may be reading this, if you find something REALLY cool, logged out or alt tab, check to see if its legit before using it. Its been stated that players can carry "illegal" items which will get their character watched, it's not until it's used that you get a ban. So confirm your items are legit before you use them. I've seen a few illegal items in cars and tents before in my own server. I do my best to destroy them so other players aren't affected by it. -
Sorry this shit head still pisses me off. Even PM'd me to tell me more about something he knows nothing about. But I mean I guess obviously I must be in the wrong. Maybe next time instead of locking the server, I'll just kick/ban players as they join my server while I'm testing it. That's seems more of fair solution anyway right? Besides, chances are they aren't running Fraps, won't get a screenshot, so no proof for them, never happened. Or hell, it's not like it's hard to script kiddie my own server, I'll just thunderdome the shit out of everyone as they join, why not? Hell I don't even really need to do that, next time I'll just take a vehicle, loaded with hacked weapons, drive it to Cherno and leave it for all to grab. Of course they'll be BattlEye banned, but w/e. Not my account, not my problem right? Yeah actually, PWing the server temporarily to clean up after a script kiddie / cheaters, pretty reasonable. So unless you run a server yourself, or perhaps can provide a better solution for cleaning up after a script kiddie, then STFU. Don't like it? Report it, report it until you're blue in the face. I'll defend any my actions I take on my server and those of other admins that are doing it for the same reasons. We try and provide good, stable, clean servers for players and all players want to do is whine like 10 year old children because in one set of rules it states servers cannot be PW protected. Guess what, that rule was targeted towards permanent PW protected servers. Rule of logic you troll

Belonged to some company completely unrelated to game hosting or games in general. Honestly couldn't tell you, other than the hosting company that hosts our server now obtain this IP address when they leased some more IP addresses. -

Our server IP was previously leased to a company in China. The particular geocaching DayZ uses to provide locations is out of date. Most geocaching servers will tell you that our IP is here in the US, the one that DayZ uses still says its in China. -

Lol that's a very good point. None of us admins that run this sever actually live in KC, where Google decided to put their fiber project (sorry Topeka). But we have been talking about doing a co-hosting service in KC instead of paying for a dedicated server. Basically build your own system, take it into the data center and rent a spot on the shelf and pay for bandwidth. Although I don't live in KC, my city is running fiber currently and is suppose to be available for my area sometime this fall. So might run a dedicated DayZ from my house if that happens. Who knows. -

My all time favorite (ARMA 2 bug, not DayZ, but still happened while playing DayZ). Playing as a sniper, in a forest, see a player, time to lay down, wait my guy does a running dive and I break my neck against the tree and die. -

I know this is a mod, but you know if it's so simple why don't you write your own mod and make it better? Oh right, you can't. This mod has constant updates, patches, bug fixes, one of the most active development mods I've played with in a long time. It's an ALPHA mod, in development, not an official release, it has bugs, issues, etc. And Zoop is right, the majority of the hacking (more like script kiddies) attacks flaws in ARMA 2 and Battleye. But locking a server is not the answer to anything. -

While I'll agree the hackers are a huge headache for server admins, but it seems like everyone is losing sight of this being an Alpha. Password protecting the server only isolates the server and slows down development. Yes, hackers are incredibly annoying, but a necessary evil for development. They point out flaws and weak points in this mod (and in ARMA). Keyword not to forget about when playing this game and/or hosting a server, it's an Alpha.
