    [SA]WeaponZ Survey

Aw the poll is already over? That was quick! Hoping the community didn't vote for ultra modern weapons *crosses fingers*

    Suicide rock near Kamyshovo

Uh... what? The kind of people who suicide themselves to get a better spawn location are entirely missing the point of the game. This is clearly not the game for them.

    [SUGGESTION]Make EAST much more interesting

Honestly, It was one of the best ideas they've patched in the alpha so far. Start out in the East, gear up (if that's your thing) in the West. Sorry that M4s won't just be handed to you anymore. Such a crying shame.

    [SUGGESTION]Make EAST much more interesting

Because this game shouldn't be "How fast can you get a military weapon and wreck face" If you want to gear up that way.. you have to walk from the East to the West. Personally I hope they reduce the amount of military spawn locations.. not add to it.

    0.30.113933

They put the change-logs on the Announcements forums. Unless the "experimental" patches are separate from that?

    Server restarts and timers

It's alpha and we're only testing the game so it's not a big deal to be honest. Frankly, you were pretty damn unlucky. I've never had any issues with a disconnect that caused me to die or lose gear.
  7. Just go back to the files and change them to not be read only then change the settings in game. and If you did the Nvidia/GPU part, just go back to it's options and disable/remove DayZ
  8. Considering we can empty and reload magazines I actually instinctively hovered loose ammo over my mag-less handgun thinking I could chamber a single bullet. At the moment you can't do that. Thoughts on being able to do this? It doesn't really change gameplay too much. More about authenticity than changing the meta. I'm sure the consequences of such a change would mean KOSers chambering single bullets and taking pot shots only to reload every time. As for PvE, could be helpful for eventually taking a single zombie out of the equation if you start to get over run by 3 or 4 of them.. or the eventual suicide option. Not a huge deal either way. Thoughts?

    Chambering single bullets into weapons.

Oh man. This makes this thread rather embarrassing then, haha. I had no idea you could do that. When I tried, I must have only tried it on the handgun *face_palm*

    Chambering single bullets into weapons.

That makes sense. However, we can't load single rounds into the M4 or Mosin, can we?

    Chambering single bullets into weapons.

Oh wow, thanks guys :) Didn't realize that. A mod can lock this thread if they so desire!

    Eating sure takes a while.

I have no problem with eating taking a while at all. It's a little clunky at the moment so it could use some polishing but I have no problem with it taking like ~30 seconds to fully eat a can of beans

Great way to start the new year

After the latest patch, you can safely respawn or exit the server and your gear will remain there. No need to wait. Also give me a break in regards to your last sentence. Next time log out in a safer place. No need to turn into the scum of the earth that this game already has.
  14. Especially since it's in alpha, a lot of "rules" are simply not in place yet.. like a log off timer or some sort of feature that prevents you to travelling to several different servers in a short amount of time. Many people take advantage of this but how many of us stick it out no matter how dire the situation? Personally, no matter how surrounded or crappy a situation I find myself in, I cannot bring myself to combat log in fear. That is not to say I haven't felt the urge to hit esc and exit the server.. but I have never actually done that in the standalone yet and for good reason. That "fear" of impending doom or perhaps escaping a challenging situation is a big part of the game in my opinion. And simply turning off those feelings and being safe in the server status limbo screen knowing my character is a-ok is cheapening the experience for myself. Certainly it's cheapening it for the guy who was closing in on you, even if he was a KoSer, but mostly doing that deprives you of what the game hopes to accomplish. So I never combat log. What about when you're searching forever for gear or food or items and you never find them? You can easily hop to another server and rinse repeat forever but do you do that? I actually got into a pretty heated argument with my friend the other day because when we were trying to meet up he said "hold up, I'm going to check this night server [which only had 3 players in it] and clean out this jail building".. I got really pissed at him. Then when he was done he was heading south to meet up with me and I asked if he transferred to my server yet and he said no because it was safer to travel in the empty nighttime server because there was less of a chance he'd get shot... I flipped out at him again, haha. Which leads me to my next self imposed rule, I ALWAYS pick the nearly full servers to play on. More people means more danger, sure.. but it also means a better chance of an interesting interaction in general. Picking low pop servers is also cheap in my view because chances are nothing will be looted and you'll have free reign. Part of the fun (for me) is even if a town is totally looted, it forces me to travel inland and pick check out other towns (thanks to my no server hopping policy). There are other rules I force myself to comply with too. I never KoS.. I try not to "shoot first" if another player rounds a corner and we surprise eachother. I try and assess the situation as quick as possible. If he has no weapon in his hands, I'll try and talk to him even if he has an M4 on his back. If he does have his weapon out and I can tuck behind a wall I'll try and still try and talk to him. To me killing on sight is boring. The more people that do it, the more this game is simply a deathmatch on a super massive level. I understand that's more or less all there is to do in this game at the moment but I'm trying to keep the social aspect alive. The point of this isn't to try and subtly say that I'm better than you if you do any of these things because I'm not. But following these rules have led to a much richer experience in my opinion. Suiciding yourself to get half of a km closer to Balota is not enriching. Killing unarmed players is not interesting. server hopping until you're fully decked out is not hard but if you do all that, more power to ya.. I just think you may be in for a rude awakening once the development team starts pumping out the updates that make doing all that either impossible or at least not viable. Anyone else do the same? Are there any other self imposed rules you put on yourself even in this early Alpha stage?

    Suggestion: Journals!

I think this is more or less being implemented with the whole pen and paper system. Though I think you have to write in it yourself. It would more or less only be used by RPers. That would be awesome though to find on an RPer.. you find his body and read about his adventures and how he came to die in that exact spot. I'd collect them! If people started using this, I bet we'd have a website up in no time dedicated to the journals people found off dead players. I'm not a huge RPer or anything but I'd definitely partake in it.
  16. Exactly. It should take days or even weeks to get the best stuff and set up a home base on a server where you don't really have to worry about ammo, food or water. At the moment it takes.. well.. 40min or less to do all of that. But, again.. it's alpha. That will come.

Seems legit, are players already hacking?

Yep. Just a server hopper. The quicker they find a way to solve this, the better. I mean.. technically there's no rush as it's only alpha but it doesn't change the fact that hopefully they have a good plan in mind to combat this :)
  18. serenityrick

Do you have a home yet?

  19. Tunnel vision. In their mind this is the total size of the DayZ map of Cheranus: Spawning in the NE must be a complete panic for them. So they make a bee line to this so they can feel warm and fuzzy again. Everywhere else is just a developer debug zone.
  20. Handguns? yes. Albeit a small chance. Hunting rifles? Yes. Albeit a small chance (higher chances in farms/rural barn areas Ammunition? Yes. Again, small chance. Military weapons/gear/clothing? No. Never. -

    Suicide rock near Kamyshovo

Hopefully as the game gets progressively harder as it goes further in development... these types of morons will vanish from the userbase. Ridiculous.

    Poisoning food!?

I think someone needs to test if you actually get sick from eating fruit sprayed with disinfectant.

Should I invest my time in 1st Person Servers?

I favorited a few first person servers and to my delight, they seem to have little trouble staying full or mostly full. With that said, 40 player servers aren't exactly massive. If it's expanded to 100+ servers, it may suck for us first person players who enjoy playing with a lot of people as most people always flock to the unrestricted servers. I prefer 1st person for both the immersion and especially because people can't simply ghost cam their way to getting all the visual information they need in a situation without exposing themselves the way they can in 3PP servers

    Hunger and Thirst timers

This. OP, you're doing it wrong.
  25. I beg to differ. If zombies are numerous, fast and ultimately dangerous... shooting someone for the sake of shooting them, especially near a town, would and should get about 20+ zombies sprinting at you. They should be faster than your jog and if you aren't able to lose them in the X amount of seconds your sprint lasts (Im guessing it won't be infini-sprint forever), then your only choice is to unload all your ammo into them which could attract even more.. and you may die reloading because they are on your ass like white on rice. If that happens a few times to people, suddenly risking all the cool shit you have isn't worth it. It won't STOP PvP (nothing should) but it will certainly change how people approach situations like that in the future EDIT - Basically coming across someone in a city (like looting the same house and running into eachother) and automatically shooting them SHOULD be a death sentence for the shooter as well.. dozens if not hundreds of zombies should converge on that location and there's no escape. Would create a pretty cool dynamic actually. You run into someone and you don't trust them at all but you both acknowledge that shooting the other would mean death for both. Right now that isn't even close to happening since zombies aren't a threat at all
