you get humanity for killing zombies and other bandits.(at least on origins), so unless you leave the zombies and the other guys trying to kill you alone.. yes it goes positive if you play it single player

Will Snipers Be Removed Or At Least Tweaked In S.A?
Bubbajones replied to Pokerguy12's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i meant any large caliber rifle, shotgun . There should be no difference in a zombies reaction if you fire an enfield in a barn or a DMR from 800m on a hill. every zombie within 1 km should be boogieing to the sound of breakfast ringing the dinner bell. THAT would make most people think twice before sniping or engaging survivors. At the least it would require snipers relocate a significant distance after every shot. -
Slowed down zombies mode. (Possible for SA?)
Bubbajones replied to Naike's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What's confirmed? He never showed the zombie in full frenzied mode. It was crouched and not running at full speed. I'm sure they will be nearly as fast as players in frenzie mode; which equals fast zombies. -
Will Snipers Be Removed Or At Least Tweaked In S.A?
Bubbajones replied to Pokerguy12's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
With the new pathing of the AI, all you need to do is have a 1000m agro radius if a sniper rifle is shot. You won't have elektro snipers as it will be like ringing a dinner bell that they wont escape from. -

I love the Walking Dead and i understand your desire to have a more Walking Dead feel in the game, however Dayz is more based on the 28 Days Later infected - as stated by Rocket himself. they are Fast, furious, and angry. if they see you, unless you kill/disable them all - you're dead. in standalone(based on what i saw for the new AI pathing), if an infected sees you or detects you, you will have a hard time losing him. i but i agree that in both scenarios (unless part of the story line is we are immune), infection should mean death - always. Only difference is slow death (walking dead) or fast death (28 Days later) -
We have a great community, seriously (you should some other games out there :)), but face it - we're the vocal minority. many people don't search the web for help and eventually feel alone, bored and quit. There are threads left and right from people looking to team up, join clans, get help with a busted leg, Clans advertising and re-bumping, etc... DayZ Standalone would benefit greatly in having built-in social tools: out-of-game-chat lobbies, Clan Pages/directories with links to what servers they have "settled", Group finders, player searching/player profiles, in-game forums I used to play a game called Tribes 2 back at the beginning of the century and it had so many in-game features for clans, groups and social communication that i still feel like it was one of the best multi-player games ever. Decent social tools gives a huge boost to player longevity and unfortunately many game companies are getting very very cheap - leaving it to us to look for social hubs outside of game. Thanks for listening.

I think the Standalone will be fantastic, no matter what the other threads say.
Bubbajones replied to DayzForumer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think BI is doing it right by putting it all server-side and keeping scripts out of it. The standalone will have a much wider demographic as it is not a mod that people have to fiddle with to make work. The SA won't have the same excuse that the mod has about well... being a mod and you will get many consumers who don't understand or care about why the mod is the way it is. These consumers will expect a hack-free game that they don't need a degree under their belts to know which variant of the game they are joining. -
You can also browse this forum for groups and friends. there are literally hundreds of threads of lone wolves looking for a few buds to group with.

DayZ Standalone PVP realism suggestion

Being a person killer in any sort of apocalypse scenario where law and order are non existent with no chance of it returning will have no consequences either. -
That is only because: the AI and pathing is very limited and predictable. it is easy to lose them because they glitch in buildings, ladders, etc.. they follow the exact path you took so you can get them real confused by running in circles around objects and tie the pathing you can stand next to a vehicle and they wont attack you, you can hide in a bush they saw you go into and they cant hit you... Improve these things and Zombies will be relentless and much, much more dangerous.
-
Either way, i'll adapt. i understand the majority wants the feature removed and i'll respect that; even if it puts me at a disadvantage due to my poor eyesight.

Survivor: "Anyone in Cherno?" Zombie: "You got a purdy mouth on you, boy!"
-
I'm tellin ya right now, if you remove the option for crosshairs, it will be like Mortal Online - people will tape one to their screens until the constant drone of whine gets them modded in.
-
Then please include a set of virtual reality glasses to each person who plays so that their brains can judge where they're aiming, like in real life.

DayZ Standalone PVP realism suggestion
Bubbajones replied to MoebiuZ's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Let's assume for one moment that the person behind the avatar is a law-abiding, morally sound individual who would never take a human life. Now let's assume he/she were to choose to play a ruthless survivor who places himself first and will not hesitate to kill to prevent threats (both real and potential) to his safety and that of his beans. Why would a murderer (in-game) go insane? because the avatar has conflicting feelings with the person pulling his strings? Look at the world atrocities that occur in the world: WWII Nazi-occupied Europe and what regular everyday people did to Jews during the round-up, the blood diamond market of south Africa where villagers are tortured and mutilated by gangs of thugs who protect the diamond mines, Drug cartels in South america Gangs in the slums of America Bikers gangs, mafia, or numerous other groups. People are killed without a fleeting thought and it doesn't phase the murderers one second. They don't start mumbling or randomly shooting in the air because they are feeling conflicted internally - even though you think they should. As much as it bothers you, remove police forces, armies, courts and judges, and prisons - and you allow people to do whatever they want with no fear of repercussions. Without the shadow of imprisonment or death hanging over their heads, many people would behave differently than they do. That is a fact of life. That is what is happening in this end-of-the-world simulator. There shouldn't be any artificial "modifiers" to warn you if someone has turned "evil". Make friends and have them watch your back. i don't think there should be in-game humanity that is kept like a score or a counter - or at least it shouldn't be something visible to players. I say let things happen naturally and watch the social experiment unfold. -
The problem with this idea of realism is that we are 3 dimensional beings playing a game on a flat screen. POV, FOV, and many other factors make judging where i am aiming difficult on-screen. if i point at something in real life, i dont need crosshairs because my brain does the math for me and guides my aim. unfortunately, there is something lost in the translation from brain to videogame. i prefer it be left as an OPTION for server hosts. If one doesn't like the Hosts choice, choose a different server.

the cows we have now don't get any attention from zombies. Now what would be really cool would be to see a swarm of Zeds running across a field after a cow!
-
my thoughts: The new zombies will make entering cities, airports and towns, almost suicidal unless you're grouped, armed, or use people as decoys to draw them away from the target building. If you thought firing a gun near zombies was bad before...gunshots will sound the death of most people. Looting players will actually be easier than risking the zombies in a town, so i expect KoS to be even more common - if they suspect the guy has any loot. players will stalk their targets more often and jump them when zombies wont agro. i really like the idea of people being afraid of the infected - as they should be. gameplay will definitely be different.

cows don't run from people unless they have BBQ sauce and a fork.

Which houses / Structures to be searched for quick loot ?
Bubbajones replied to nikhilkdipsar's topic in New Player Discussion
FYI, if you can't see into a house through its windows, you can't get into said house. its your best indicator if you should approach it or not. All buildings where you can see in the windows are enter-able. -
All alone yet I here gunshots

what the heck do you do after the first 30 minutes when you'r geared? -
I have 3 you tube fanatics, a netflix junkie, and me a dedicated gamer and i rarely go past 80GB/month on a service that offers unlimited download for 10$ extra on the plan. You have to remember ISPs have data plans for people who just use the web to send email and check weather. 10GB a month is fine for granny checking recipes, but it wont get you far as a gamer.

How can I clean my pc from hacks/malware?
Bubbajones replied to Clore's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
as long as you redo the partition making sure that all data is purged before it re-installs, otherwise it only re-installs the OS and leaves everything there. -
Did you run both games at least once before launching dayz? i had the same issue when i first started. there is some setup to do by running both arma II and combined operations at least once before running the mod.
