  1. you cannot compare a fictitious scenario to real life, period. history has shown us, repeatedly, when things get really tough; and i mean really really tough - people can do some really shitty things. do not presume to tell me that YOUR morals and values should be the norm. that everyone should behave as you think it should be in a fictitious setting. in the zombie apocalypse, you would be a victim to someones else's reality,

    just to clarify. i dont care either way, i am just saying as long as there is only one hive, there are no separate rule-sets. Once hives can be private and loot isnt transferable across "difficulty levels", each individual is free to choose their server private rules. They can have a 40-man circlejerk for all i care.

    Vehicle numbers

    most vehicles should be rusted out hulks with only a few good parts. only a small number of vehicles (3-4) should be in near working condition at server start. by cannibalizing numerous vehicles and reassembling many many pieces should player be able to complete a vehicle. gasoline, by nature, has a shelf life of a little over 1 year. players will have to make their own fuel - and it should be hard.

    PVE only on a hive that also has people that have to fight other players for their loot is wrong and against the rules. its like being allowed to stop at walmart to stock up before going to live in ethiopia... not fair to the rest of the fly swatters. once they have private hives, your pve servers wont affect loot in regular servers and you can cumbayah all you want in a field of daisies. For now IN ALPHA, you follow the regular rules.

    The KOS conundrum, problem/solution.

    Forcing people's avatars to adopt personality disorders and behave differently then the player desires is NOT the way to do it (regardless of what your self awarded PhD in psychology/psychiatry says.) Assigning a value to every avatar (beyond blood donor) is probably the most constructive way. Every avatar upon spawning should be assigned a skill that resets and randomizes on death. Players will be able to see which skill their avatar was incarnated with in the paper doll menu.The skill should grant a substantial ability that would make said avatar desirable for a friendly encounter or grouping. When players use their skills they slowly increase in potency making living longer a rewarding experience and adds more value to the life. a player who has lived a very long time (in-game terms) could have the ability to create/perform some amazing feats. These skills could include: Cook - the player has the ability to process foodstuffs and get 3x the nutrition out of the base ingredients. player can neutralize food poisoning etc... Mechanic/handyman - player can repair/upgrade vehicles (once implemented), fix tools, repair electronics, etc... Tailor - by using rags and other articles of clothing, the avatar can repair and enhance articles of clothing Nurse/doctor- avatar can perform medical treatment 3x as fast with 2x the result and with a much lower chance of infection. They can also successfully "operate" on players in the field and bring them back from death, if their skills reach that point. Tracker/outdoors-man - player can "see" paths left by other players/zombies/animals for up to 1 hour after they have past. by examining the tracks, they can identify male female, animal species, direction. players can fish better than others with bigger for frequent catches farmer/botanist - player can grow food faster with larger harvest. player can create medicines,tonics, and ointments with local plantlife.(once pickables are in) adding a value to your avatar; adding something they you can trade with another such as a skill or service is how you give players a reason NOT to KOS. Right now (and justifiably) the game is early in its development players are merely bean dispensers. *edited for spelling

    Real life zombie apocalypse

    Even if you lose all your stuff, you continue to exist - material loss is incomparable to the possibility of dying for good. As long as you can play them game again after you die, you will never be able to compare the SA to real life. only way to combat it would be to implement skills or something that requires real time and effort to give your avatar value.

    Should combat logging be ban-able?

    you don't ban someone for doing something you don't agree with... you ban them for cheating the mechanic. until dayz has mechanics in place for people to bypass... you can't ban them. make everyone have a log out timer, like in age of conan, SWG, Mortal Online, etc... if they managed to log out (after a 30 second wait) with you hunting them, then they escaped. if they alt f4 of pull the network cable out of the wall, they are in the world for 60 seconds, not 30. if they cheated their way out...ban em.

    they should have a 30 second log-out timer counting down when you choose to exit the game. Exiting in other manner results in your character remaining in the world for 60 seconds. goodbye combat loggers. Mortal Online did this as well as other pvp enabled MMos.

    Looting your own corpse...

    60 second delay before your body gets up and attacks the nearest living being. that would be great! if you're with friends (or enemies), they may have to damage your gear to kill your zombie.

    the artists will create thousands of articles of clothing, weapons and crafting gear in the next months. give it time.. alpha has been public for less than a week.

If the servers can track the rate at which players switch, then it can assign a hopper flag to them. as long as he continues to hop, he keeps the flag.when a hopper enters a new server (while under "hopper flag") all loot should be invisible to him (and only him) within X kilometers of where he came in for 1 hour. people will not be motivated to hop for loot.

    you need to be drinking from the wells in many of the towns... keep drinking till it says you're satisfied.

    i dont believe you can draw blood from yourself. someone has to do it for you. otherwise people would bank their own blood instead of robbing people for it, lol
  19. Rocket has already stated that he wants people's characters to developer skills with medicine, cooking, mechanics, etc... to give people value - other than as blood donors.

  22. i have invested in several alphas over the years Mortal online, AoC, etc... More recently KSP, Dead Linger, Prison architect, Godus etc... you should have seen the state of those games the first few weeks they made the alpha available for purchase...they were really broken and featureless. the dead linger is still pretty unplayable as far as i am concerned, however i bought them in alpha because i want to support them and they are cheaper now. Months later... much better and playable i play KSP and prison architect a lot. haven't touched Dead linger after the first 1 minutes - and don't plan on trying it again till its released. i am content to know i helped them reach their goal and am in no hurry to see a finished product; i have enough going on now. Dayz is a very advanced alpha; very playable and super stable...anyone who complains 2 days after it went public is delusional.
