every time this has happened to me i do the follow with success 100% of the time. 1. DISCONNECT IMMEDIATELY before you sync back to the server and overwrite your old character. 2. go for a walk, kiss a girl, watch a movie, pull your pud... whatever. just go do something else for 15 minutes. 3. log in again and check if you're back. if not, back to #1 and repeat until successful.

did it even occur to you to search this topic before posting? 1. it is a know issue, deal with it. 2. there are now two server hives, hardcore and regular - gear doesn't transfer between them. 3. the game is IN DEVELOPMENT - the developers do not owe you any lost gear as it is implied with the word Alpha 4. you WILL lose your gear again, and again, and again - learn to detatch yourself from your gear. This isn't WoW. and most importantly... 5. read the forums and search before posting

Difference between Hardcore and "regular"?
Bubbajones replied to Mdogg2005's topic in General Discussion
Rocket has recently said that the two will be on separate hives :) -

This isn't an online Diary for your brain-farts. The world has facebook for brain-farting. if you want to comment in a discussion forum, expect comments to your comments. if you want to brain-fart your emotions, get a blog and disable comments. -
regarding the guy on the second floor who took a shot at you, but didn't pursue you when you made your intentions clear, i'd say +1 I think you just scared him at first and he shot out of reflex. i still think that this survey should be entitled, "Is Dayz new-spawn friendly?" i am sure, had you been armed, most of the friendly encounters would have ended with you dead and not knowing where the shot came from.

i believe the only difference (currently) is hardcore prevents 3rd person view.

In the future, we should be able to create safezones for people to trade, learn and commune in.
Bubbajones replied to rydekk's topic in General Discussion
correct. there are only decimals. -

any game mechanic that removes the ability of a player to do behave in the moral manner of their choosing goes against the concept of the game. If there are to be safe zones, they have to be created and enforced by players, not the game. that being said, what Dayz needs tools for the sandbox, not artificial barriers. -

i've been playing the stand alone since hour-1 And i have systematically been killed by the game every time i get fully geared. i have yet to die to a player. i always get wiped, or killed by bug. you know what? every time i die and have to gear up again, i get better at it. in a Year, when the time the game is finished, it will be a 10 minute thing for me to gear up as i will be very practiced at it. you will still be on the beach whining about how hard the game it. -

Yes, please uninstall and come back when the game is finished so you don't have to post the obvious anymore. P.S. Don't let the door hit your vagina on the way out :) -
You kno when you've been playing too much DayZ when...

where did you loot that spoon???? NEAF? -
i think this is very interesting. a few questions: don't you think running around in your underwear and behaving like you had brain trauma encourages a specific response? what if you were geared? i'm definitely not a shooter of new spawns, but if i saw a guy in his boxer-briefs run up to me and stand there REFUSING AID, i would hear Admiral Ackbar in my head saying "Its A TRAP!" but interesting none-the-less

Today I learnt that there can be zombies in the wilderness. (story)
Bubbajones replied to mcnools's topic in New Player Discussion
i dont think so for three reasons: i was no where near any towns - nearest houses were a 10 minute jog from my location. i was in a deeply wooded area.there where over 10 of them ; anyone creating a zombie train would be hard-pressed to herd that many of them and get them that far from towns without losing agro.they were spread out over a 100m radius (in a rough circle) and all slowly walking in the same direction (west) - a zombie train would more likely be a single-file zombie pileup.this looked scripted, not player induced. eitherway, it was a really cool encounter and i hope to see more of it. -
uninstall the game DELETE the game folders reinstall the game. OR do an integrity scan of the game cache in steam. either way your game is outdated.

Bubbajones replied to mcnools's topic in New Player Discussion
was jogging cross country, at night, coming from the northwest to rendezvous with the group near elektro and was surprised to find myself in the middle of a forest with at least a dozen zombies slowly walking through the woods to the west. luckily it was dark and i managed to get into a crouch before i was spotted, but i had to navigate through the horde to get past them. Was one of the best experiences i had to this day; Alone in the woods, hear a moan, do a 360 scan to find dozens of zombies all around you. -
and helicopters are easier to fly then planes? if anything, they are even harder. Vehicles have their place in the game. what is needed are some simple ground rules for their implementation. all vehicles begin broken down - dead batteries and filled with gas that has expired. (gas has a shelf life of about a year unless preserved then it goes bad)vehicles should have numerous parts (various engine components, suspension, exhaust, electrical, etc.... these parts must be scavenged from other vehicles of the same model (no bus engine blocks in compact cars...)most car parts will be in a ruined stateruined parts cannot be repairedrepairing parts and vehicles requires a mechanical skill that is only gained through experience and dies with the player.there is no gas; it has to be crafted (ethanol/bio-diesel).vehicles have to be converted to work with crafted gas (requiring parts and skills)vehicles need keys to start. hot-wiring is a skill that comes from experience and dies with the player.if done right; if made very difficult and requiring interaction with other players and their skills to complete a car, it could be some serious end-game content.

Only problem with spawning someone in the same place repeatedly is you can't escape spawn campers/griefers and the whine is already loud enough about it.
-
the player is disconnected from the hive and loads you up as a noob because it doesnt know you. the solution is to IMMEDIATELY log out before you sync with the hive and try again in 10 minutes, if you spawn a noob again, get out FAST and keep trying every 10 minutes until you spawn back with your loot. the dead giveaway that you are disconnected from the hive is your character spawns as a completely different type than your default.

Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557
Bubbajones replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
the gun you find on the ground has a story and a history - even if it was just spawned in. if you use your imagination, ask yourself these questions: How did it end up on the ground in a building? abandoned because it was broken? dropped when the guy ran out of ammo? How did it's previous owner die? Zombies? bandits? How long has it been sitting there in the elements? weeks, years? do you still wonder why abandoned guns aren't all pristine?- 2582 replies

I have an idea for helping with the KOS problem. Rocket should read.
Bubbajones replied to Rzach's topic in General Discussion
my apologies. i didnt even realize i said South.i corrected my post. -
Dear Mods, Please create a new section on the forums similar to the graveyard called "Butt hurt and vocal in alpha" We need a place to put 70% of the posts in the forum so it doesn't clutter the actual content that contributes. Thank you.

how do you know? go and visit the blood diamond mines in Africa and count the number of people talking to themselves because they committed brutal crimes go and visit the drug lords in mexico and count the number of people talking to themselves because they committed brutal crimes go and visits the slums of major U.S. cities and count the number of people talking to themselves because they committed brutal crimes. you can't create hard coded rules to dictate how everyone reacts to something you find wrong. right and wrong is subjective. morality is governed by Law - when law doesn't exist, morality doesn't either. -
we're already a bunch of fucktards for reading this forum as much as we do...no need to have game mechanics to reinforce insanity.

what he doesn't get is it is simply the server losing connection to the hive... if he logs out immediately and waits till the server reconnects tot he hive, his character will be alive and the same as the time he left. when my character gets reset from hive disconnection, i log off quickly, go screw my wife, then come back a few hours later and find my toon restored, Lesson: get married to a hottie - the rest balance out.

it hasn't affected the mod after two years, why would it affect the SA? the only thing that killed the mod was hacking - period. otherwise you would see many more public servers than you see today. private hives can be whatever the person playing (and paying) wants - if you don't like the rule-set - don't go there. if, in the next year 99% of all dayz servers being paid for by players are private lovefests and 10 million people are performing oral sex on each other behind no-pvp rulesets, then maybe someone was wrong about what dayz should be. just saying
