I know my excitement can be misleading but if you look at my previous posts you'll see I've long had problems with FPS and Day Z is one of my favourite games. I'm just a bit too giddy now that I can actually play one of my favourite games :) Maybe I should get them to pay me :L -

Well I've tried many other defraggers and none were as thorough as this one. Nor did they have such an effect on performance. -

Well it worked for me :) try it, it's free what's the worst that can happen :L you wont regret it. If you want some assurance then just google it and youll see others have used it too. -

I used to play Day Z a lot, my FPS was never particularly good however it seems to be much worse now no matter what I change the in game graphic settings to. I have a Intel i3 540 CPU and Radeon 7770 graphics card 2gb VRAM and 4GB Ram. I can run modern games smoothly, Hitman Absolution for example runs great on high settings. So why Day Z is at 8-20 fps makes no sense. I've tried editing things in startup like adding "-maxmem=4096 -maxvram=2048 -cpuCount=2 -exThreads=1 -nosplash -skipintro" If anyone knows any good EU/UK servers that would be great :) mainly the FPS issue tho. -

Thanks for all the replies, I'll get rid of the startup parameters and try changing my beta patch. If none of this works I'll reinstall the game and see if it helps at all. The Pathetic thing is I'm even running with a game booster :L unfortunately not got the cash to afford new CPU. I'd like to overclock but I'm not entirely sure what to do and I've tried reading guides but bit complicated for me :L -

ATM hiding bodies is as easy as click of a button. This should be made more realistic. If you want to hide your traces then you'll need to drag the body somewhere people won't see it. On the other hand this also allows you to use dead bodies as traps. The same way tents are used ;) allows for more strategy in the game and should be quite easily implemented considering there is already a drag body function for living players.

I reckon it'd make most sense to either drag the body with both hands increasing speed or be able to use one but hold a sidearm :) hadn't actually thought about that. Definitely hope rocket sees this and puts it in SA though.

Hopefully it'll be implemented soon, I've taken a break from Day Z till the stand alone besides some occasional playtime :) stuff like this being added would be good to freshen up the mod till standalone.

I have managed to acquire a large selection of items and weapons. I'm quite proud of the gear I have. I had what I thought was a good hiding spot however someone has put A vehicle not 300m from my tents. So I've stashed all my best gear in a UAZ and hid it far up north. How would I go about finding a good spot/server that people won't find? The plains outside the map seem stupid and obvious as does anywhere along the west of skalka or further north right to the other end of the map. I mean is there anywhere safe? Or would I just need to rent a server which tbh I'd rather not spend the money only too have a safe spot for my camp.

I cannot wait for the stand alone, screenshots are looking great. Hope that even with the improved graphics there will be improved performance. For the closed beta or whatever of the stand alone will people be allowed to upload videos of it? If I'm not going to be able to play the game I at least want to be able to drool over gameplay :L -
Try and remain on high ground and always near cover, if you're logging out somewhere near a town or city do so far enough away that you can see if any zombies have spawned due to other players and preferably be on a hill. Play with headphones or clear and loud speakers so you can hear footsteps/breathing/gunshots. I find headphones particularly useful as especially with gunshots it helps me find the direction and distance of the shot. Always keep smoke grenades/flares handy for distracting zeds and I like to have a frag grenade handy in case of vehicle encounters - practice in ArmA recommended though as they're tricky to aim.

Constantly on the forums you see people complaining about all the snipers in the game. There's been plenty of posts and people advocating that sniper rifles should be removed and to be honest this is quite stupid in my opinion. I definitely think sniping should be made harder which will undoubtedly come with a better hit detection and damage system so a bullet to your toe won't kill you. Of course you'll get a lot of snipers at the coast in Cherno and Elektro but this is a survival game that takes place in an apocalyptic world so do you really expect anything less but getting shot at if you run into the two biggest cities that are right next to where everyone spawns? I think people forget that there's a massive map with plenty of places for the same and better loot than in the two main cities. The only time I go to Cherno and Elektro is when I spawn and I'll quickly run in to pick up some loot then get the hell out of there and you can avoid the snipers in the city, there's plenty of buildings for cover. Point is if you're going to run into Cherno, Elektro or Stary then you have no reason to complain when someone kills you. Snipers are really not much of a threat in this game I've came across very few. Only those at Stary, NWAF and the coastal cities. These are places in a real apocalypse you'd expect to find these dangers. If people spread out from the coast then I think they'd find there problem to be gone and it's not like there's a lack of urban areas; Zelenogorsk, Berezino and Krasnostav. Basically if you want to survive spread out from the coast and avoid it at all costs unless you have real good reason for going down there and don't complain when you get sniped at hot spots because it's more than likely it was your fault. Edit: as for the abundance of military grade weapons yeah they should be made rarer and I'm pretty sure they will be. ATM I think the main reason there's so many is people scripting them in. -

I know that the 50 Cal weapons were designed for this kind of thing, I'm just wondering what weapons in Day Z have the capability to shoot through walls or objects and what walls or objects they can shoot through. Does anyone have reliable information on this or will I just have to test it out in-game (if I can't get any replies I might just do that then post the results) It would also be helpful to know, is DayZ's ballistics the exact same as Arma 2's? Or has this been modified for Day Z. -

Bad ArmA! To be honest, it is rather disappointing that the developers of a military simulator didn't make this mechanic more realistic, maybe in ArmA 3 and Day Z SA eh :D? Ps. when did you become part of the Day Z forum team Derpy :L -

I don't know but would they be able to implement a system where whoever shoots first is the aggressor so if you then fight back it doesn't lose humanity. It's not perfect but it wouldn't make self defense so easily get you a bandit skin. -

I generally roam the 'badlands' as they are called however I generally live around the east of the map at guglovo/mogilevka.
