    New weapons AS "Val" Please

Oh noooooes. Well, given some rifles fire handgun cartridges there was probably an exception in there regardles. However, I don't believe +P rifle ammo is common otherwise, especially in a self-loading rifle.

    New weapons AS "Val" Please

I said the VSS lacks a supersonic crack. If I write 'supersonic crack' there's a pretty clear implication I know that subsonic bullets are designed to do that. 9x39, .300 AAC 220grn loadings and such. All I said is I didn't find the idea particularly balanced. Also, you do realize they do not make +P or +P+ for a rifle, right? And that +P+ is not an industry recognized standard? I'm also guessing you know that cartridges like .38 Special and .45 ACP in their +P defensive variants are frequently not supersonic, and a '+P' rating doesn't necessarily indicate they break the sound barrier?
  3. So, in a nutshell, I'm in a supply run at the military tents when some dude pops my friend in the back of the head. We lay low and the guy that killed him runs in, I kill him. I'm stripping the gear off their bodies and sorting through it all, waiting for my friend to spawn again and salvaging the situation. Then I can't equip anything, do anything and I get the 'receiving' message when I right click on anything. I do a bit of testing with server jumping and running around - if I run far enough away from the loot pile (the wall by the airfield), I can pull out my gun and I suddenly get the you are getting wet / you are no longer getting wet eeemessages. If I run closer again, I drop, lag, can't use anything, sometimes with a signature error. Logged in and out a few times, verified game cache. No router settings out of the ordinary. Anybody else had this happen? It sucked that it happened after a firefight when we needed those supplies pretty badly.
  4. I did a brief search and found this issue was touched upon but didn't see a thread dedicated to the idea, so, please inform me if there is a proper thread to post in. [Guns should usually spawn with mags and a few rounds] Guns should spawn with mags a majority of the time. Ammo randomly in the weapon would also make sense, from a full mag rarely to just a few rounds. I mean, even if ALL the guns spawn with fully loaded mags and ammo, the fact is a good chunk will be found empty because just like a real disaster, people would probably take what they need (compatible mags and ammo) and leave what they don't need behind (extra guns.) But I'm not suggesting that. Just a high chance of finding a mag with the gun. Maybe a mag or two around the gun where it makes sense (police departments, military spawns for example.) It seems unnecessary to force a search for a magazine every time a gun is found, and its unrealistic. Most people who use or own guns will have magazines with them. There are exceptions, like military rifles stored away from their magazines, but if anything the M4 is one of the easier guns to find mags for. It's sometimes very difficult to find the one specific magazine for your one specific gun. Sometimes you find a bunch, sometimes you don't. Like, it's not a crippling balance issue obviously but it's unrealistic and not particularly convinient. In the second screenshot, I had found a suppressed Ruger, the Blaser, and an engraved 1911. But not a single mag or snaploader, and just one stack of ammo for the two handguns, which I was hard-pressed to use against multiple zombies single-loading. The funny thing is I had 30 shotgun shells and quite a bit of 5.56, but sometimes it works out that way. Just my thoughts on that. [Mags should have their spawn ammo amount randomized] A good chunk of complaints regarding military spawn are probably due to the fact mags spawn fully loaded. In a single run up to the airfields, I had two full cans of 5.56 in my inventory as well as countless rifle magazines. If I hadn't found them all completely loaded, I would have found more like 100~ plus whatever was found within the magazines. Which seems far more reasonable. Anyway, those are my thoughts. What do you guys think?

    Ghillie suit, rangefinder ?

Not to be pessimistic, but that just seems like another way to make new players miserable, and to widen the gap between survivors. I imagine more people would KoS until ten days were past to get their nice stealth suit, then proceeed to do whatever they want. KoS is also a survival tactic, after all.

Changing the M4 to Burst Fire

I guess that makes sense. Still, even if recoil forces are low, a weapon might not stay on target very well - a Glock 17 versus a Beretta 92F, for instance. The latter is heavier and absorbs more recoil but has a very pronounced muzzle flip. Although the Glock is light and should transfer more recoil to the shooter, it stays on target rather well (for most, since firearms are a YMMV thing.) Most shooters find the AK family notably recoils off and to the right - the AKM actually has a muzzle brake that vents gas upward into that direction to counteract it. But, they're basically comparable. Hah, I personally hated Payday but I get what you mean. Still, it'd only make sense to remove automatic M4s if you didn't have any other automatic weapons. I'm honestly more apprehensive when someone uses aimed semi-automatic fire to try and kill me than a haphazard burst where most of the rounds miss. 'Realistically' though a civilian AR-15 in Chernarus really wouldn't make too much sense though, unless some PMC group brought them over for some work.

Finding Guns / Mags Partially Loaded

Yeah, I understand it might pose spawning issues but it would be better than the alternative - which is currently finding many guns uselessly.

    NWA Snipers and firefights

Well, I mean more like it was a bit melodramatic. Like, it seemed a bit too much action music in the early bits, which clashed a bit with how slow Day Z tends to be. I think Frankie is really good with music, which he mostly uses to fade in and out.

    NWA Snipers and firefights

I found the music a little overbearing for the calm, measureed sort of gameplay. And slightly repetitive with that main 'action' theme. Subscribed, though!

Changing the M4 to Burst Fire

Right, but the Mosin has a comp slapped onto it in DayZ SA, so who knows if the stock muzzle device will be used. The AK-74 is honestly pretty comparable to a 16'' midlength AR, since it was intended to be the USSR response to the 5.56 and all that.

    Lost in Chenarus

(Just my screenshots I found particularly interesting for being totally unexpected or crazy.) ^I was compeltely caught off guard when this happened. The zombie ate this survivor as I ran off. ^Found my own corpse after I had fallen off the cargo ship earlier in Rify. ^I entered the ship without much issue, finding me an M4. When I left, I was quite shocked to see this body that hadn't been there before. Guy had died without a sound. I wonder if he had been in the ship and slipped off as I boarded, or if he had died some other way, having planned to enter the ship. Weird, man. ^Greeting a survivor moments before they drew an M4 Carbine, convincing me to rapidly depart. ^At first I didn't notice there was a survivor standing here, but I caught it in the corner of my vision. When I saw the person, I immediately dropped prone, not knowing if they would see me. ^I got a closer look before trailing the survivor, seeing what they were up to. I had a vague feeling they were the one who had produced the M4 earlier, but it was hard to tell. ^Trail went cold after they disappeared into the building. I stayed outside, wary of being ambushed by following. By the time I searched the structure they were long gone.

Lets post some screen shots (Standalone)

Pretty bad GPU and low res, but I thought my friend had a pretty amusing aesthetic for his character. A 'bagman' with a silenced Ruger and a sawn-off stowed in his jacket XD
  14. I've never programmed a game, so I have to ask if it's actually that much of a challenge to code a weapon tracking rounds. It seems like a very common feature in many games, like the Half-Life engine titles.

Military Tents Spawn To Much Loot?

I think a loot rate drop could be fine if the helicopter crashes are added back in - maybe ambushed convoys or wrecked military vehicles, even supply drops randomly found throughout Chenarus. Just to make the loot dispersion a bit less predictable and centric about the tents and airfields.
  17. Eating till you're fed then vomiting just doesn't make any sense. I think there's a crucial mis-understanding of biology here. If you've gained nourishment from food, it's in your intestines. You can't vomit that stuff too easily from your colon. Mostly just giving you crap. But it's interesting how the hunger system actually works. I'm not sure how to portray it reasonably and realistically.

    Vehicle Ideas of DayZ Standalone

It was decently fast and had machine guns but it did help that people in them were usually bad shots.

    customizable cars!

I'd think that you could craft gun pintles, turrets and shields and just have whoever climb into them to use whatever gun they found in it. So if they never add LMGs its not going to pose a balance issue as far as firepower goes. Though if you ARE allowed to have guns in a vehicle as a modifications, they should at least have molotov cocktails or something that can aply fight back.

    Vehicle Ideas of DayZ Standalone

I feel like more is less in this case and I'd enjoy having a limited set of civilian vehicles that we can repair and modify in many ways a whole lot more enjoyable than having like... a multi-million dollar main battle tank we cannot repair, supply or even drive. Because it's like... you introduce armored vehicles, you logically need a way to fight them. Then we introduce RPGs, anti-tank guns and rifles and it starts to go downhill very very fast.

Can the Standalone not be persuaded by EPOCH's bad features?

That doesn't seem particularly realistic to me, having never played Epoch. While it takes some know how, all you really have to do with most older cars (like ones found in Soviet client states) is smash out a window, use a slimjim or pick the lock, then basically dismantle the ignition assembly. Locking works in modern, first-world countries. It doesn't do anything in places with war or very violent crime, and it shouldn't in Day Z. But locking in itself seems a logical feature to me.

    Ghillie suit, rangefinder ?

Thank you. To clarify, is all that information just provided for you? I imagine in Day Z there would be a lot more trial-and-error.

    New weapons AS "Val" Please

All I can think of is how hilariously overpowered this gun was in STALKER ONLINE (now sZone Online.) In general, I don't really like integrally suppressed firearms from a balance perspective, especially ones that fire huge bullets like the 9x39mm. It doesn't generate a supersonic crack, even! Also, while I know it's argued that Chernarus is a fictional place, there's not really any place a AS Val or a VSS make sense that isn't Russia. It's not a prolific weapon in the least that doesn't belong in a generic Slavistan sort of place.

    Mortar!

A realistically implemented mortar would self-balance in the sense that the gunner would need to know how to drop the rounds accurately, adjust the sights, and have a teammate to walk the shots in for them. If you used the open sights you'd be in rifle firing range anyway... I see mortars as more something implemented if fortresses became a thing and clipping issues were solved. But, they seem something entirely applicable to already powerful, well armed and organized groups of players and not really applicable to lone survivors - the bulk of the playerbase I'd think.
