you guys need to RELAX. He is going MTN climbing for research. How many threads did we have about wanting a snowy region? Well now that he is finally doing research you complain, poor guy can't win...

Probably because the Beta doesn't exist.... WOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHH !
-
No. This is something we will get with the Standalone. All I can suggest is a retarded dance of dropping magazines/putting into backpack in order to have the smallest clip loaded. Not worth the dance tho...

Trying to find a reason to put Dean back in the mocap suit? I'm sure he'll be pleased to have to sleep in it for a night... FOR SCIENCE !!!

They want to have roaming zombies worldwide, they understand the woods are fairly safe. The Need for Engagement? That is a personal opinion. If my friends and I want to setup camp near Lopatino, loot it regularly, and defend against anyone entering "Our Area" so be it. That might be all that I need to do, to enjoy the game. Everyone want's something different. Bases will be underground, probably a little hatch in the ground you need to find if you want to enter someone's bunker. So you can't defend it 24/7 and... Why do you feel there is a NEED to do that? if you feel that is your priority and how you WANT to play, then that is how you should play the game. You should MAKE FRIENDS from various regions/countries and have people be part of YOUR community. Having a vehicle, be it a bicycle, car, ural, or even heli taken from your camp sucks. Having all your tents raided/smashed aren't fun either. But as much as it SUCKS, it is still PART of this game. It is an integral part of the mechanism that is DAYZ. losing your gear, and rebuilding. There should be no guaranteed way to keep what you have forever. I really think they have the potential to do a good job on instanced/underground bunkers. I also think they will be hard to find. lol if me pointing out the facts that certain things are still being worked on and haven't been implemented in any testing phase...just... doesn't matter... uhm okay? You should change your forum handle to Dubya.

Nothing to discuss. Player bases are slated for end of this year, I believe I recall hearing dean say DEC. plenty of R-mod base building on various servers right now you should try... When it hits steam we aren't going to even have vehicles for the first month possibly... it will still be an alpha. I'd like to see more endgame-esque things to do, but with the new health/infection system this game (which is about surviving) will be alot more challenging.

what do you mean swarmed? I'm just talking about basic numbers. If the server spawns zombies at every location upon server start. this 4k number is really QUITE easy to achieve. I'm not even trying to suggest they are "boosting" zombie numbers. I'm just saying you can easily achieve this number with our current settings. Go to a server with 0 people and go to... say zelenegorks and run thru it, and watch the zombie spawned counter... you'd pull... easily what... 150+ from that one town... lopatino...nothing to loot there... easily 70 or so... I'm not talking about swarms just the fact if zombies are always spawned regardless of player vicinity (which has been stated...) we can achieve this 4k number... I understand what you are saying, nice to find a park bench by a pond or other neat places abandoned. but seeing as how all buildings in towns will be enterable... I'm just trying to show that anyone that hears the number 4,000 zombies and has their brain say eleventy-bajillion zombies isn't thinking straight... with our current spawn model. That's it.

so you have 60+ deer stands, and 45 towns (yea... count em). lets pretend... a fully spawned NEW cherno/elektro/berezino each hold 300 zombies each, thats almost 1k of this 4k total. 3 zombies per deer stand 180 45 towns... with average of... what 50? 2250 these 3 numbers bring us up to 3330. Factor in... NWAF... good 100+ if fully spawned easily. Balota medical tents, Balota Airstrip, NE Airstrip... etc.. etc.. PLUS you have all the little piddly shit like a random stable out by itself, the wooden shacks... Please say you are stoned or bad at math, because... My math adds up. Does yours?

Are we still on track for servers with 150 players? Because I don't understand how anyone expects PVP to be "nerfed" in any respect with 3 times the amount of players on most current servers. If anything it makes "New Cherno" all that more exciting to consider going to. Especially with the overwhelming amount of work/new buildings they've done on it.

I think I see a new Dayz Meme Theme...

Comparison of DayZ Weapons For New Players
Charb replied to applejaxc's topic in New Player Discussion
couldn't find a picture, but here is the kinda hat they wear... http://images.tradem...5/225883865.jpg -
the problem with any camp site is you don't need to worry about 95% of the server, only 1 guy stumbling upon it. Maybe your tent is between him and his buddy and he got lucky Try to think of how a player would go thru an area. Try to place it somewhere they may not go. a lone set of tree's in an open field. Why would anyone run across an open field when they can follow a different tree line with more cover. Try to think about being seen from above. Really easy to spot tents and vehicles from the air. You will notice that each type of tree has a different advantage for visibility. Finding a good mix and match of bushes and different tree types may take a while, but when you find a good spot you'll immediately know. Pull up the map of chernarus http://dayzdb.com/map and look at it not trying to see where you should place a tent, but how people would PROBABLY travel. Get a car and scout it out. Luck and Chance have helped me find numerous tents, however... Also at times you have people like me, who will literally walk on foot for hours combing inch after inch of an area to see what goodies i can find. Remember... always carry your best gear. Tents should only be backup stuff for when you die and need immediate items like matches, not a treasure vault or armory. (Edit) Forgot about cheating admins... Gotta love that...

you need to remove the "s" in HTTPS yo.

How does one go on a Nerf debate without bringing up the bat... ? That makes me sad.

They have already showed us MANY sneak peaks of the new Cherno. Allow me to find some of that work... BRB http://i45.tinypic.com/2eby5py.jpg this shows all the new apartment and condo's on the road leading NORTH from cherno past Vysotta. Also, in the latest devblog video MATT (determine for yourself) says "Who is running back to cherno?" The video starts with them being outside a grocery store and roaming around randomly. I don't believe this is actually part of cherno, but VERY close. That big empty area between Balota and Cherno 056 127 http://dayzdb.com/map#4.058.127 NOPE ! so obvious, matt also says south. you see the radio tower, and the barns to the north, they are North of Vysota. so that ENTIRE red area you highlighted on your map North of Vysota is where this video takes place. So much for people sniping from that hill. I hope that was intentional. (I've edited this post like 15 times. matt even says in side chat "Urban Area North of Cherno" ) Can't believe i missed that from watching it twice.

If Rocket messaged you tomorrow...
Charb replied to The Shadow's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Its very late and I thought this thread said... If Rocket MASSAGED you tomorrow until i started reading replies... well first off, that'd be very kind of him, not sure if there is enough power in those tender kiwi hands however. I'd like to see some kind of locked clothing option. So if i find apparel I can lock that graphic into my slot. If I die, my character is still NAKED, but I still look the way I did before dying. This way if you want to run around and look like Marty Mcfly... (Which, I do) YOU CAN, however you'd have no benefit from that clothing e.g. Item slots, warmth factor. In the event I decide I want to change my orange Ball-Cap graphic with this new Black one I found, only to want to return to previous graphic, I'd have to find that same color again. basically a "copy graphic" / "lock graphic" option. Prevent this feature from working with ANY camo item. Have this feature available as a reward of some kind? Have it available to "founders/supporters" that get DAYZ SA first launch, or sell it as an additional DLC for $1. I don't think it would be too game-breaking. Perhaps I'm just too trusting of the DAYZ community... -
as that initially sounds like a good idea. That doesn't explain how you will take damage by zombies. More importantly our HP system is directly tied to the visibility ingame. I'd hate for that colorless black and white visibility to go away when you are on the verge of death. That really got your heart pumping when you where in the worst situation ever.

Didn't rockstar want 1 million in royalties to use their code for horses? yea... lets put some easter eggs in DAYZ for them. Considering all they have done for us. (off to find the quote1)

Anyone else miss when you were a noob?
Charb replied to Death_Dealer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
at first I was about to say yes, then I remembered my TRUE first dayz experience. Spawned outside Elektro. Made it to the docks and was beyond upset i couldn't find anything. Had no idea what i could loot or where to go, just empty buildings or buildings I couldn't enter. That was... a good hour or two of crawling until I eventually got up and ran only to die 3 minutes later. Not to forget getting stuck on doors, not understanding how dangerous stairs were, etc.. etc.. etc.. What I actually miss... is the SECOND week of dayz when I knew how to play and being familiar with all the deadly bugs. There was still so much mystery and unknown in the game. Screw the first week lol ! -
I think the best type of server is a place where you can have different mindsets working together. if i stumble across 3 people and they have a heli. your crazy if you think i'm going to sneak all the way over and become a talking bush shouting "REACH FOR THE SKY". If I have the opportunity I'd try to kill all 3 of them. This isn't to say I'm against more RP. I just don't think you can force people to play one way or else you ban them from the server. You risk ending up with 1 mega clan and no one to mug, or a bunch of people sitting by the road waiting for cars to come by.
-
Probably easier to just implement stun-gun, pepper spray, non-lethal ammo. Basically anything that is an insta-KO. This would mean no extra time wasted on animations. Overall its not a bad idea, but I'm sure these other things (which probably will) make it into SA are the better way to go.
-
Care to explain? Its very obvious there are several things the dev team feels the need to keep secret. Which is obviously why these video's and devblogs aren't always glitz and glam. No doubt, Concerned for having more of their idea's copied. More importantly The last thing this game needs is to be accused of trying to copy another game, let alone BAD mechanics from those games... (Edit) The Idea you suggested is still dumb, just in case we strayed from that.
-
Worst Idea Ever. Mainly because that is how it is in WarZ. "Know Your Enemy" - Sun Tzu.
-
It's been stated endless times that the arma 3 engine has irrelevant coding that isn't needed in dayz. Dayz SA engine will be streamlined for this game, which has been stated a million times over already on these forums.
