I've played hundreds of hours of Dayz, and for all you fools harp and whine about people hiding on ridged roofs, I've never seen one. Not one. Realized recoil depends heavily on the skill in the shooter. You can't judge a weapon's actual recoil by watching videos of it being shot.

It's also a choice. I switch between the two as condition calls for it. If you choose to handicap yourself that's not the defect of one who does not, no more than a DMR is unfair because you choose to only play with a crossbow.

This is a simple suggestion, I don't know how easy it would be to implement, but I recommend given the changes in 1.7.5.1 a small change be made to the inventory management system so that the hatchet, when on a player's toolbelt, would be selectable through either the scroll wheel or the F Key, this would allow a player a "melee" option without dropping their weapon or placing it in their backpack, and would drastically increase a lone players ability to fight zombies or other players silently.

Within 15 Meters you have to watch your noise meter, crouched I've closed to a meter. I've also pulled from 150 meters through solid cover, so it's a mixed bag.
