Open inventory (g) open the context menu on the ammo you wish to convert (rmb) select convert. Only ammo in the immediate inventory (not in your backpack) can be converted.

I think I was on 236 when this happened with maybe 10 people in teamspeak. We recognized it immediately and DC'd, when we entered another server half of us were at the airfield but no one lost kit or got killed. No FRAPS, sorry.
