If a group of people have a lot of something, and they suddenly disappear or all die and leave a lot of shit behind, there will probably be more of what they have a lot of than stuff they kept in small numbers, artificial balancing notwithstanding.
-
Yes, the most current patch is live on Commander. You have to manually download though, as with all patches (though it's automatically applied).

That's not the issue, their ability to instantly recognize a human target moving quietly despite intervening opaque cover and then instantly transmit that information to other zombies within 80 meters that then unerringly find you like a meat seeking missile is where the majority of the complaints seem to come. I would have much rather their pathing had been fixed so they don't phase through walls like goddamned ghosts. This logic is fundamentally wrongheaded, weapons like the AS50 are extremely rare, weapons like M40's are fairly rare, NVG's are not rare, the AN/PSQ-20 alone warranted a 560 million dollar contract over 5 years, that's ten of thousands of units, for a single iteration of the technology to a single country. NVG's would not be rare in a warzone, rangefinding optics even less so, no matter how easy to cart away they are. Your attempt to "balance the game" is a complete betrayal of the underlying experiment. The additions are similarly wrong-headed, adding a Humvee is neat, adding a nerfed humvee is ridiculous; adding a bunch of new guns is sweet, making the majority of them Western Weapons Camo'd for the wrong enviroment is silly; adding a bunch of new food types based on specific animals is a meaningless distinction, rewarding you for eating animals that are according to Razor "harder to hunt" strains credulity; adding backpacks is handy, arbitrarily picking a used backpack to nerf and then restricting all the worthwhile ones to military spawns is asinine. The less said about the addition of the Kirk Roll the better, I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one. As far as I can tell, besides the architecture fixes (Which allegedly are causing a lot of people a lot of difficulty in connecting to the servers), and the zombie hearing (which a previous community update broke), the only thing they've really fixed is a single glitch relating to the transfusion animation. There are certainly legitimate grievances, as there are with any unilateral action, to dismiss them out of hand is folly.

What's changed with the loot spawning
sp86 replied to theirongiant's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Aside from the changes of what it's spawning as far as I know functionally it's exactly the same. distance check, spawn cooldown, whatever. -
Explain your logic or get called out.

What's changed with the loot spawning
sp86 replied to theirongiant's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There aren't any backpacks larger than 12 slots that spawn in civilian areas. That should probably say it all right there. -
If this were at all the case, this would be true.
-
I put tents in the buildings at Brensk in a semi-popular server. There are multiple spawns within a couple hundred meters still went unmolested for weeks. Even when I started parking my ural in the barn.
-
Canteens are frequently metal. Put canteen in fire. Boom, water boiled.
-
They should correspond to the real world equivalent. It's not what it should be, it's not whats balanced, it's not what makes sense for the game, it is what it fucking is because that's what it fucking should be in a simulator.
-
Strictly speaking it should be a 95 L tank.
-
That's a hell of a nerf for a vehicle rated at being able to carry 4,500 lbs huh?
-
So this is just gamey balancing, not any concern of realism.
-
Banditry has nothing to do with it, if he can't find anything entertaining in a literal sandbox game he needs a more directed game experience. Asks the guy who didn't pop a heatpack before he took antibiotics.

It's a server control hotkey. If the server is running battleye you get kicked. -
Maybe Namalsk has made him Paranoid.
-
Then you should really play a game that holds your hand, I hear good things about Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
-
You also have the same old shenanigans of people spawning them in.
-
There really should be an option to spawn people 1000 meters up with a deployed chute, then they can land anywhere in glide distance. Plus it would add a fun game for bandits, see who can shoot the most bambis out of the sky.
-
Several conventional duping methods have been addressed, the rest seem to require two people. I doubt your fears are justified, even if they are, if it became a problem you could run an inventory wipe.
-
You'd rather spend 10 minutes bleeding out then spend 10 minutes running to zelenogorsk? Cause you hit zelenogorsk you can get all the kit you need out of the supermarket to make a run at Starry or the Airfield. You know this is a survival game right?

Will the method for setting up stand alone servers differ from the mod servers?
sp86 replied to rossasaur's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Would be an interesting departure from traditional MMO server hierarchy, instead of everyone paying 10 or 15 dollars (or buying microtransactions) to finance servers maintained by the dayz staff, players instead pay a flat entry price and pay for (and maintain) the servers themselves in exchange for access to the hive. -
Stated spawn rate is .09% which is 1 in 1111.111... which is the same as Coyote backpacks, NVGs, Rangefinders, GPS, Barretts, and a bunch of other crap.
-
Because there are people whining to Sumrak to disable it for everyone.
-
You don't know what incoherent means do you? The EVR and BS, they don't make it hard, they make it interesting. They're just additional considerations you have to plan for. One of the funnest firefights I ever had was against two assholes and five bloodsuckers, so I don't know what you're talking about that it's all of a sudden not fun. I'm pretty sure that barracks spawn coyote patrol packs when they're supposed to spawn Coyote backpacks as well, because they seem to have the .09% rate, and I haven't seen a coyote backpack in weeks.
