I think your story is a somewhat accurate reflection of how you would feel in real life, should you kill anyone. Well, of course, I only said somewhat accurate because realistically, you'd most likely be suffering from PTSD by now, lol. Nice story, anyway.

Lucky to actually found something. All the crash sites I chanced upon have been empty so far.

Map is too small, I'd say. Places like Stary and NWA has like near 100% chance of encounter.

DayZ is the first game I've ever seen ruined by hackers
Whattteva replied to Blay Wayne's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You must not play games that much. Hacking is pretty common. Terms like "aimbot", "wall hack", "teleport", etc... have long existed long long before DayZ came into existence. -
So you want immersion and realism?
Whattteva replied to Jaeskern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
lolwut? Off-topic: I've seen: - Shoot on sight. - Shoot on site. - Shoot on side. Would the list grow larger? Only time will tell. -
It's definitely true killing people is a much more efficient way to play the game. Saying "laws and trained professionals" as the only simple reason people don't do this in real life though, is highly flawed and inaccurate assumption historically, at best. You may want to check your facts. In the beginning of mankind, do you think there were laws and "trained professionals" to punish people? The humankind even went through an apocalypse event some 750,000 years ago (Toba Eruption), yet we still evolved to how we are today instead of going into extinction because people kill each other senselessly. Humans are very social creatures. We eventually realize the benefits of working together over individually, namely, convenience and security. This is real life, not The Matrix. Do you think in real life, you could somehow fly choppers, manufacture your own weapons and ammo that you so highly prize to kill others all on your own? Someone with the expertise has to do those things. If everyone in real life is as you suggest, we'd all still be stuck in stone age. In real life, things don't just "spawn" for you to loot. This is a game, people need to stop comparing it to real life cause it simply isn't. It's true that there are definitely people in real life that are just like that, but those are few and far between and will quickly be weeded out by the rest of the population (as we are doing today). Edit: Lol, I just re-checked my facts. I confused the Toba Eruption (~70,000 years) with the Yellowstone Eruption (~640,000 years). It doesn't affect anything else though.

Punishing bandits? Shut up, seriously.
Whattteva replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lately, the forums have degenerated to a place for either one of these two things: 1. Complaints about bandits. 2. Complaints about posts pertaining to number 1 above. Both posts are really preaching to the choir and beating the same dead horse. I doubt anyone to whom these posts apply to will listen to either post. It really makes me wonder why people bother wasting their time and energy. -
Ghillie suits are not fixed in 1.7.2.3 (Confirmed by multiple people)
Whattteva replied to phisher34's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've heard some people say that your suit just goes away and you go back to wearing civilian clothing. -
Just much less hassle. I don't really have to check everytime there's a new update as it checks it automatically.

[UPDATED] Weekly Stats, PvP Trends
Whattteva replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think those people are not really complaining about the rampant PvP encounters. Rather, it's the fact that since PvP encounters are somewhat rare, usually, by the time you do encounter one, you'd already be geared pretty well. Obviously, you'd get much much more upset if you get killed with more stuff than if you were just a fresh respawn off the coast. It doesn't take many occurrences of getting killed for probably the majority of people to get mad. As such, this creates an illusion that it happens often. People tend to give more "weight" to things that negatively affects them than things that affects them positively. Also, think of it this way. You see obituaries in the newspaper everyday, but none of that affects you. If someone close to you dies, it will affect you much more. It's all about everyone's own subjective perspective really. -
[UPDATED] Weekly Stats, PvP Trends
Whattteva replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
One thing to keep in mind that I'd like to point out about respawning not being counted. I don't know about other players, but when I started playing, I didn't know that you could lose your stuff while swimming (found it hard way). I didn't know there was a respawn choice, so instead of doing that, I ran to the nearest zombie and got myself killed. Just something to keep in mind. -
Has anyoen else been having these issues with tents?
Whattteva replied to frogman3's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I thought I just got a glitched tent and my stuff got looted out of one of them. So that's what's going on.... -
The first person camera movements when your character is moving around gives me nausea.

[UPDATED] Weekly Stats, PvP Trends
Whattteva replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm really interested to see how these stats trend over the next few weeks and see if the same trend continues or maybe we could even get fluctuations. I would think fluctuations would be more interesting cause there may be other factors that we have not yet discussed in here yet. What are your expectations? -
[UPDATED] Weekly Stats, PvP Trends
Whattteva replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I misunderstood the intention, but I don't think what I pointed out was wrong as I explained in the post right after it... but whatever... I guess that's why things tend to degenerate around here. No one likes to admit their own faults. I'll take the blame on this one, so things don't escalate any further. -
[UPDATED] Weekly Stats, PvP Trends
Whattteva replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's cool. We got our differences resolved in a civil and rational matter just a few posts before yours. Look, it IS possible for things to be resolved in a calm manner if people keep the discussion with cool heads and without name-calling right? I think the reason a lot of threads degenerated to the point that you describe is cause people start name-calling and spouting profanities and the likes... maybe. -

It's my bad, too. I didn't read your post carefully enough to understand that. Personally, I'd love to see how this plays out. Keep up the good work! -

My bad. I realized this after re-reading the post. Why does people get so highly defensive around here? Well, I suppose, it's understandable with the general attitude of people around here. -
[UPDATED] Weekly Stats, PvP Trends

I'm not trying to pick beef with anyone. I'm just trying to point out something that I think is a little off. Don't get me wrong, his data is really interesting and innovative. I'd definitely like to see where it's going. But, wouldn't you think it would be better for everyone if things constantly get improved? Questioning others is good. We'd still think the solar system is geocentric if people just never question anything. Science would get nowhere. A collaboration of people's feedback always make things better, that's how open source and even this mod that we are testing works. Rocket may be the expert, but that doesn't mean our feedback won't make the mod better. -
[UPDATED] Weekly Stats, PvP Trends
Whattteva replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're trying to see trend as a function of time. Yes, you have a lot of data points, but you only have two data points for your time (that's your domain). To see an accurate trend, you need way more than two "time data points" if you will. -

You have pretty good analysis with one flaw. The sample size is two. Hardly even close to enough to make any kind of accurate analysis. -
Global chat server?
Whattteva replied to joe.gaming890@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I liked the side chat cause otherwise, I feel like I'm just playing a game with mutes. Also, it's a nice thing to do to pass the time cause sometimes when I'm just running in the woods, it could get pretty damn boring (lack of auto-run button makes it worse). The chat keeps me company. They can also provide useful tips like how to get out of the debug forest (thanks to buggy 1.7.1.1 patch). It can be annoying, however, to hear people singing, etc. over it. So, it should be restricted to text communication only. -
I actually like the side chat. Not for grouping though, it was more talking to others when I'm playing solo, cause it could be pretty boring. They could also give you helpful tips (like how to get out of the debug forest when I spawned there).

I actually recognize the first character (I or wo in mandarin), lol.... have no idea what the rest is.

This looks like Chinese. This looks more like Korean.
