How to instantly make dayz more fun

If they fix item duping and infinite ammo (as well as combat log-outs to lose aggro), then zombies will become much more of a threat. If you can't log-out when being chased by zombies, and on top of that ammo is actually rare (like its supposed to be), then zombies become much more of a threat

    The real issue with DayZ

^^ Better yet, imagine a game like day-z but set in a world where everyone is the size of an ant. It would be so fun. Every insect would be super dangerous. Youd need to shoot various bugs to harvest food. Find water at dangerous water-holes that might have other creepy insects in it. Murderous super fast giant spiders and hornets everywhere. Do you know how scary a spider is when its the size of an elephant? lol It would be so badass. Squads of tiny survivors with military weapons fighting their way into bee hives and ant-hills looking for tasty honey and larvae mmmmm Count me in
  3. No one needs medical supplies. They are really easy to get. Just ask someone to donate you a sniper rifle. Theres tonnes of gear floating around and i'm sure someone will happily help out. I need to reinstall the game because its not updating properly for me, otherwise I'd hop on right now to help you out. Good luck.

    The real issue with DayZ

It would be pretty cool if there were more *legit* ways to die (ie not hackers and not doors) that made the game more scary. Perhaps randomly spawning super zombies that require close to 30 shots to kill, and which can kill you insantly if they catch up to you, and they cannot be ditched by running indoors or through bushes. They should also have a much higher detection radius. They should also be randomly spawning but fairly rare. It would make running around a bit more tense. Right now you approach a town, whip out binocuars from a distance and see "ohh theres no zombies spawned, town is safe", and from there everything is easy and boring. It would be kind of scary if you had to fear the possibility of a super zombie spawning with the other zombies. Would force you to approach the town much more tactically

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

Apprently the new 2.6 pattch that was released today has fixed tent saving and vehicle saving. 95% of duping occurs via tents. This would be a good time for hive wipe!!!!! someoe with rockets telephone number call him pronto ! oo

I call this the diablo 2 law of arrows and bolts Your Amazon carrying a bow? All the mobs are going to drops bolts now Your Amazon carrying a cross-bow? All the mobs are going to drop arrows now

    Is it possible?No Snipers

If they fix duping/hacking and fix the ammo counts, then snipers will not be a big problem. One of the main balancing tools in this game is the rarity of ammo. Snipers are a pain right now because they have easy access to mass ammo. When ammo becomes rare again, you'll find snipers will drop off significantly because most people will prefer to carry a different weapon instead of wasting their hard to find sniper ammo on griefing.
  8. When you take your car into the mechanic to get repaired and he tells you "your going to need a new alternator", and you have a panic attack because you cannot remember ever finding one of those
  9. When you stare suspiciously at your backpack that already has stuff in it and wonder whether its worth the risk to put your laptop inside it.

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

You joined a few days ago. You are still kind of new to the game. Once you get the hang of it you'll quickly figure out how to find easy gear and my statement will make more sense. For example once you find a camp in the forest on any server, you can always return there for gear because tents are glitched out and no matter how much stuff you take out of them, they will magically refill when the server restarts later in the day. I could tell you a few camp locations but I'd rather not. It will ruin the game experience for you. Enjoy the thrill of slowly upgrading your gear with items you found yourself. Its makes you afraid to die which adds to the tension of the game.

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

who cares about as50's? Theres a bazillion as50's on the servers. I wouldnt be suprised to learn that theres more as50's than there are makarovs currently floating around the hive.

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

Actually thats not true. June --> July --> August ------ saw a very ssteady increase in the item saturation of items. Late July-August got particularly bad. It took a good two months before all the duped items begain to really start impacting the game heavily
  14. Was having a conversation with my friend about this and I was just curious to find out what you guys prefer Option 1: High end realistic graphics (like currently exists for day-z on the arma 2 engine) Pro: Highly immersive. Drawback : Cannot support large numbers of players per server. Leads to deserted map except for coast. Option 2: Stylized graphics Pro: Can support larger numbers of players per server. Drawback : Not as immersive as arma-2 engine. Not going to insert a poll because the graphical style of the standalone is already fixed. Was just curious as to player preference.

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

It would remove 4 months worth of duping and hacker saturation on the servers. It will take quite a while before the situation becomes as bad as it is right now again. The best thing would be to hive wipe AND disable tents alltogether (save tents for standalone). Fixing tents would be good but hackers could still fill up non-duping tents with hacked in gear. With no tents they are limited to llegit vehicle slots since spawned in vehicles vanish upon daily server restarts.

    PVE and PVP Servers

Never quite understood the appeal of PVE Why in gods name would you want to play only vs ai when you could play versus human players. Finding beans and medical supplies is boring when thats all their is to do. But when coupled with a hostile world where other players are, then even finding beans and medical supplies is fun because of the potential for PVP encounters at any time. But if people want pve servers, they can have it. As long as items are not transferable between pve and pvp servers. Don't want people loot hunting on pve servers where its less dangerous, and then coming to pvp servers with those items.

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

Servers hesitate to patch because they think a previous patch was more stable/fun and that more people want to play it. As poll shows 85% so far would like a hive wipe. Hopefully server admins are also likewise enthusiastic. Although you may have a point though since most server admins run clans and have vehicles and large camps so they may be more reticent to support a hive wipe. But nonetheless i'm sure most of them are as bored as us because of the impact of mass duping. I'm sure a large numbers of servers would happily patch if it meant that some fresh fun was injected into the game. A fresh hive wipe with tents disabled (until tents can be fixed) would get me playing the game again. Right now i've taken a break because it's gotten a bit boring. Most of the people I used to play with left the game a few weeks back as well. Hackers will still be a huge pain, but it would alleviate one of the main drawbacks of day-z right now. Super super mass supply of bazillions of high end military gear. With no tents even if hackers spawned in crates, there would be no way to stockpile them and it would be a slow crawl back to saturation so wed have fun for a few months still
  18. Doh ... It doesn't ? Its all client side? So if big expensive servers were run they would be able to support the 600+ players you see on mmo's while still maintaining the realistic high end look of arma 2? Thats pretty cool. Case closed then =)

    Item-Sinks : we need one

I'll attempt to keep it brief (edit: attempt failed :P) Everyone knows that item duping and hackers influxing large numbers of scripted items into the game has ruined the day-z economy. Hopefully that will all get resolved in future patches and in the standalone. But another issue that needs to be addressed is along a similar vein (although it does not involve cheaters). Essentially, the game needs better balance in terms of -- items in vs items out. Item influx to the game Randomly spawning gear which players find/loot Item outflux - Not reaching a body in time so it dissapears. - Destroying a vehicle that is stockpiled with weapons - Bugs. Things like players destroying weapons when backpack eats weapons due to lack of space. Buggy mechanics on how long a dead body remains lootable. The main mechanic for item outflux seems to be the timer on a dead body expiring so you cannot loot it in time. In my opinion this only affects new players. When I first started playing I rarely managed to recover my body because I was dying in high traffic areas close to the coast, and I did not know the map well enough to find my body again. Once I got more experienced, I would always be able to recover my body unless I died to an enemy player at close range (where more than likely I've been looted). Deaths to zombies (rare as they are), or buggy deaths like spawning in trees were never much of a big deal because one could always recover the body. Now considering what I just mentioned (namely that experienced players more often than not tend to recover their items) and that most item sinks are due to bugs which will get fixed .... we need more ways for items to exit the hive. Otherwise after a period of time (even in absence of hackers and duping), items will naturally lose value purely as a consequence of them saturating every server. Suggestion - Zombies hits should have slight % chance to damage equipment permanently. So for example lets say NVG's have a spawn chance of 0.10% at a high end military loot spot. A zombie hit should have something like a 0.05% chance to damage your NVG's. An AK47 might have a 20% chance to spawn at loot spawn point, so a zombie hit should have something like a 10% chance to destroy your weapon when they hit you. (Similar to the way zombies have a % chance to break your leg) If you find it unrealistic that weapons can be damaged by a zombie, than for weapons we can have something like a % chance that a bullet destroys an weapon. So if I spray someone in the chest with an assault rifle, theres a chance his as50 will be destroyed by my bullets. The numbers themselves are not that important right now, but what i'm suggesting is merely a way to help balance the incoming items into the game with the number of items which exit the game. In other words, help stabilize the demand and supply so that rare items actually remain rare *this would also help make zombies more of a threat.

Why do YOU kill in DayZ?

Wow people are slow lol. You do realize that hes not even muslim right? Hes pretending to be muslim to hatemonger against them. You can tell very easily because hes parroting every fox-news line in first person mode. You really think some jihadi dude would be saying "i like to kill infidels because my god is evil and its fun "yadayadayada" It's like if I hate communists and I go post on a forum "Communism power! We are going to take over the world and do x y z to you". Or if I hate black people so I go post with an avatar of a black person and post stuff like "YAAAAAA you stupid crackers, raped two white women last night" Then people on the forum start responding seriously "you shouldn't rape white women. Cant we just get along" But its not really your fault. The propoganda machine is in full effect at even higher than the communism fear-mongering of the cold war. Talking about the jihadis and communists while were at it .... it's quite instructive to remember how the "evil jihadis" and "evil mooooslims" that everyone is a parroting expert on these days, were our best friends in the 70's/80's. When they were a bulwark for europe agains the spread of communism near the iron curtain. There were no crocodile tears and op-eds about plight of women or the other propoganda of convenience. Back then they were super awesome "freedom fighters" and today they are "evil terrorists who hate our freedoms and want to take over the world [so dont turn into vietnam anti-war protests when we go invade their countries]" My uncle is a military movie junkie and he has every military movie ever in his vhs/dvd collection. I watched Rambo 3 the other day at his house and I wasn't sure if the TV was trolling me. You should have seen how much ass-kissing praise the jihadi's were getting in that movie (because they were fighting against Russia's invasion of afghanistan) Rambo's superior officer in particular was pouring on the decorations about the "brave mujahideen freedom fighters". Take a moment and imagine what the script would read for the same movie made today and it should give you some insight into how propoganda works. Hint: Every adjective and descriptor would be reversed. Brave mujahideen to cowardly terrorist. Either way the viewer would believe either one because 99.9999999999% of people havent a clue about some random third world country half way around the world. You believe what your told. "But won't the noble journalists and reputable news organisations set us straight if something is not true" ? Riiiiiggghhhttt This world will be a much better place the day people learn that all governments lie (including ours). It all started with that assh0le caveman who drew a line on the beach, flexed his muscles and said "this beach is mine. If you come here i smash your head on a rock" Fat Marco OUT!

    Item-Sinks : we need one

Thanks for the reply. Personally id prefer not to punish players for doing nothing wrong. Degrading weapons naturally is too punishing. It is better to punish a player for taking damage like getting hit by zombies or getting sprayed in the chest area. That way at least a cautious/skilled player could hang on to their hard earned items (and in a world free of duping/hacking and proper economy management, items would be TRULY hard earned). It really kills incentive to find items when you think "meh whats the point, their just going to degrade and i'll need to find more of them". But if you mean weapons degrading but being able to be repaired with weapon kits then i'm all for that! Its a good idea because it would give another incentive/reason to go out exploring areas to gather more items. Beef up the survival aspect even more.

    Item-Sinks : we need one

The suggestion is not meant for current state of game. Right now item saturation from legit finding of items is a small fraction of the issue. Right now its the mass duping and hackers. This suggestion is meant for the game once those issues have been addressed (whether it be in the standalone or if future patches fix tents/duping).

Why do YOU kill in DayZ?

Keep your zionist propoganda out of game forums. Save it for fox news.

Why do YOU kill in DayZ?

Because game is boring with all the item-duplication. When you can get pimped out in 20 min, there is really nothing left to do in the game but PVP. And no one wastes time going to NW airfield anymore, so might as well snipe people at cherno/electro and hopefully run into other snipers. Survive ? Look for food water? Why lol. We need some major major overhaul to some side mechanics of the game. I have faith the devs
