There is some audio enhancing software that improves your onboard chip's performance. I've never looked into it before, but you might consider it before spending your cash. As for soundcards... I have no idea and can't help ya. Good luck!

This is how things work. Sometimes unexpected things happen and you cannot play seamlessly for a few days. If you're unhappy with the celerity of the DEV's work, maybe you should consider paying them for it.

Well, I think I'm about done with this piece of shit.

I wrote out a somewhat thoughtful response to you... but having read your last few posts I see you're just a little bitch troll. GL with whatever hacker free game you find. -

sudZ! replied to Lord Fartus's topic in New Player Discussion
Do you HONESTLY believe that >40% of gamers, playing any game on any continent, are more altruistic than those playing Dayz? I think this is a severe misconception. If the internet teaches you anything, it should be that 80% of the people on it don't give a shit about anything but themselves and will do whatever they feel like doing. Other games have the same, or worse hacking issues. Even COD has ridiculous hacking and griefing issues. I remember within a few hours of Black Ops coming out there were already people with endgame weapons. It's just how things work on the internet man. Get over it. My best suggestion to you is to leave Dayz for awhile. Go do something you enjoy and give it a shot once it's had some more time to debug. You'll probably enjoy it a lot more than you are slogging it out as an alpha tester. -
lol. You really believe that, huh? I don't think a few days of frustrating glitches in an ALPHA is going to kill a project. Anyone who leaves because of bugs at this stage isn't cut out for alpha testing anyways.

Exactly, well said Nemish. Rocket has said that bandit prevalence is not the issue... the issue is a lack of things to do in the game. The trust issues only exist because people care so much. I have been killed by 3 players who posed as friendly survivors. However, I have met 10 or so randoms who I have worked with without any issues of backstabbing. Getting killed sucked, and I made note of their names in case I ran across them another time, but it's part of the game. The only reason you're shooting people on sight is because you're paranoid. If you don't give people a chance, they'll always be bandits to you.

And they add a dimension to the game that is necessary/fun. When I go to a high risk area I'm on high alert. I don't just run in and take stuff as I would if I didn't think a bandit(s) would be waiting for me. Honestly, if you could walk into Stary whenever you wanted, exchange ammo with the friendly survivor sitting at the campfire, then set off into the fields you'd be so bored of this game within 2 weeks that you'd never play again. I'm not a Bandit, nor do I think they're the best part of the game... but they DO serve a purpose. Plus, how fun is it to stumble upon a group of campers, launch a grenade at them and collect the spoils? The real issue with bandits is: ALT+F4!

Just thought I'd post these in here in hopes that I can help the Dev. team in some way. 1. Graphical glitches - I know there are 100k threads about this already, just thought I'd mention that I was getting the glitches at NWAF whenever I looked at the control tower. They'd go away if I looked into an empty field. I then ran all the way to Berezina and didn't see one glitch until I got there... then they started up again. I think you know the issue...so that's good. 2. Cows disappearing - I killed two cows but they just disappeared instead of allowing me to get my precious 8 meats! 3. Disappearing packs - I found a coyote pack so I dropped by old pack and it disappeared. This was fine because I unloaded its contents into a loot pile prior to doing so. I put on the coyote pack, stuffed it with goodies and logged out. Upon reconnect it was gone, along with all of my loot. I got it from a tent in Stary. 4. Disappearing secondary weapon - I tried to switch my AS50 from my pack to primary (As I'd done many times). Unfortunately the gun and its ammo disappeared. I had room for the ammo in my pack and in my primary pack (or whatever it's called). Still absolutely loving this mod though. Thanks for all of the hard work guys!

Spawning in a building that players are looting
sudZ! replied to Fenwich's topic in New Player Discussion
I have what could be the same predicament staring me in the face next time I play. I was booted from 3 servers (weird battleye errors) while inside one of the hangers at NW airfield. One of the times I spawned in there was a raging gun battle going on outside. I stayed hunkered down for about 2 mins till I got the boot. Another time I watched a guy get sniped within a minute of loading in... then I crashed. I completely refuse to join an unpopulated server just to get out of it. I went in there knowing this could happen and will have fun trying to get out of it! Should be an interesting escape tonight. -
Agreed upping the PS. And I'm not sure a sound card is necessary unless you're looking for HQ 7.1... One benefit from buying a mobo in a higher range is that many of them come with higher-end onboard audio processors.

For $1000ish you can build a rig that will last you for years. Here's how I've built my 3 gaming rigs, all around $1000 at the time I built them: There is very little point in coveting specific hardware if you won't be building for a few months. The best thing to do right now is read. Go onto tech review sites and gather as much info as you can. Know when new products are coming out so that you can capitalize on companies selling off their old, outdated stock. Put it into a word doc and keep your eyes open as you get closer to when you want it built. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY IT ALL AT THE SAME TIME. So my last desktop was built in January 2008 and it has just, in the last 6 months, become less than desirable when playing new releases. Here's how I did it. 1. Motherboard: Quality really is important here. For some reason people seem to skimp on mobos... if you want a gaming rig to last you awhile you need to have a decent mobo. Want to overclock your processor or add on a new SSD? Better not have a $60 budget board or it's not going to do shit! Look for something in the $150 range that is on a good discount from around $200. Furthermore, get one that has either crossfire or SLI compatible (look these up for more info if required... essentially they let you have two of the same graphics card installed on one system.) 2. Video Card(s): I bought the best "bang for your buck" card at the time. a geforce 8800gt. On your budget you should be doing the same thing. There will always be a card around 200-250 that is damned good for its price. find it. It doesn't need to be a BRAND NEW release... just make sure it's not outdated. Once you start to feel it slowing down in games, go get another one and make use of your decision to get an SLI or crossfire compatible mobo. You'll be pretty happy with the increase in frames for a card that costs 50% of what the original cost you. 3. Processor: Much like vid cards, there will be a workhorse processor that will be a "bang for buck" specialty. the i7 2500k was one of these recently. just read read read. Specs are fine, they get you in the ballpark... but they can be deceiving. Don't cut corners and you'll be fine. 4. Power Supply: One of the things that people do to cut costs is buy a shitty PS. Stupid. Just stupid. It's like buying a BMW M5 and then deciding to not have airbags or power steering. A nice machine is only as good as its un-fried components! Furthermore, this will give you the ability to power that 2nd vid card, an extra hard drive, or usb 3 devices without having to worry about power consumption. Again, just do your research and you'll find a good one. 5. Ram, HDD, DVD Drive, Case: This is where the deals/cost cuts are. Ram is hilariously cheap... do a bit of research on what is good and make sure you get more than 4gb. Shouldn't run you more than $60 at very most. HDD is similar. You can get a good 1tb drive for $50 if you keep your eyes open for deals.... Or if you're feeling a bit more spendy than you've indicated, get a 128gb SSD and a cheap $40 750gb 5400rpm drive for your storage. It's all about how much you want to spend. DVD drives and cases are other components that can be bought for peanuts. Just make sure your case has ventilation (fans are always good if you can get them) and you'll be just fine. MY BIGGEST TIP: PRICE MATCH!- Most online stores do this. Find the one with the cheapest:most reliable shipping and then scour the webz for the best deals. Pricematch them into your shipper and there you go. You've just built yourself a badass computer rig that is both sustainable, and economical... and the best part is... you now know how to build computers! Good luck and have fun!

How much revenue has Dayz pulled in for Bohemia Interactive Studio?
sudZ! replied to Flurf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Whoever owns the license for the product will be making A LOT more than .08 on $16 purchases. If they're making that little they need to sue the lawyers who recommended they sign that contract with the distributor(s). If a distributor is earning over 40% you're getting completely hosed, no matter what business you're in... if you're only making a .005% profit on each product you sell you're either severely mentally deficient, or someone fraudulenty misrep'd something. or you need a new COO because your overhead needs to be a loooooooooot lower! -
I just found my first downed heli... however, the loot kind of sucked. There was an FN Fal there, but it had no ammo. I already had an m4A3 CCO with 5 clips and couldn't justify walking around with a gun with no ammo and a makarov...So I left it. What would you guys have done? This was certainly not my best moment... My best moment occured last week, on my first night with my first character. I didn't know enough to use an online map, had nothing but my bandage, flashlight and painkillers, and had NO idea where I was going. I was just running! About 3km north of elektro I found a tent in the woods. It had a dinner bell, some ammo, a watch, and an axe. WOOHOO! I thought I'd hit the jackpot! Turns out, an hour later I'm starving because I didn't find any food and was still extremely lost. Worst of all, it was getting dark. oh no. So as I'm thinking about ending it all I crest a hill and see a road. I decide I'll follow that road (to the left...east maybe?) until I either find food, or die. I took about 3 steps down the hill and then witnessed the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in dayz. A car comes booting around a bend and stops about 100m from me. It looked like they saw something they wanted to investigate (it turned out to be a dead player), and I could only presume that was me. I dropped to prone just in time for the ambush. I don't really know how many guys were shooting from the forest, but I'd guess 4 or 5. One of them was close enough to me that the rounds were snapping over my head. It was over in about 10 seconds but I laid there for a good 10 minutes. They never looted the bodies (the car blew up at some point) and I heard nothing. By this point my screen was grey and shaking.... I ran down to the scene of the ambush and found 3 bodies. The first two had all of the gadgets a guy could want.... but NO FOOD. The last guy had sardines. SARDINES!!!!!! So I got out of there with a coyote pack, DMR, M4a3 CCO and a bunch of meds only to aggro some zeds right before I left to grab a beer. Ah well...

What I see when I see people complain about weapon dmg nerfs
sudZ! replied to AnonDayZ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To think that the Arma mods just went ahead and changed these weapons without letting Rocket know is pretty far fetched. He knows, and if he's as smart as he seems, he's using this opportunity to see how people react to the changes. Honestly I think weaker weapons is a good thing. Headshotting really should be a requirement for success. This game is built around the idea that difficulty is good. A lot of people who play DayZ pride themselves on being able to excel in what is a difficult game... so why not reward those with the best accuracy as well? It's another layer of depth and difficulty that doesn't exist when you can shoot a Z in the leg with a pistol and have him die. This doesn't mess up balance either. Whether you play 50 hours a week and have the time to find the high powered weapons, or are a bandit and steal them, or just check every nook and cranny and get lucky... you CAN get the best weapons in the game. Is it fun 1911ing Zeds without a care in the world? YES.... Is this game about 1911ing Zeds without a care in the world? NO. :) -
First timer on DayZ ♥ (5 deaths and what happened)
sudZ! replied to MrKittens's topic in New Player Discussion
Well done! Pretty similar adventures to my own. I recently broke my legs in a door (derp) and was saved by some friendly medics... however, I had to log off immediately afterwards and did so while sitting in a house. This probably won't work out too well for me when I come back in. we'll see! -
TOP 10 things that ruin immersion for DayZ
sudZ! replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Jamming would be good. Guns could require servicing to stay in good condition..obviously the better the condition, the less likely a jam will occur. Two new item types (if items can even be created in dayz when not in arma 2...I'm not sure of this) could be a "full weapon service kit" and a "small weapon service kit" with the full kit being less prevalent. Pretty straight forward and realistic. -
I dearly hope this joker isn't on the WarZ Dev team.... If so, that's some bush league shit right there.

A huge TY to PkStormx and his buddies. I had managed to break my legs in a door (derp) and needed blood/morphine. Within a few minutes of posting here, PkStormx had replied and was off to help me. This is an awesome service and really does show how immersive this game can be. These guys deserve to be on the White List, if not on the trusted list. Thanks gents! -

Is anyone who is able to help with broken legs near stary? I'm South of Stary in a erm... precarious position. Thanks! -
I didn't want to... Honestly. I had just spawned in electro, hit a few barns, and was making my way north with a springfield, 15 shots, some beans and cokes. It was a pretty good haul for 15 minutes. Keep in mind that I do NOT go into the big cities, I just don't know the game well enough to compete in there by myself. So I'm wandering through the treeline when I manage to pull a noob move and accidentally fire my winchester. Shit. I moved to a higher vantage point and waited to see if anyone investigated. After about 5 mins I decide to check my map. When I come back into the game, I see a ghillied up sniper walking towards me with his rifle up, about 20m away. He doesn't see me yet, but it won't take more than 10 more seconds at most. ohhhhh noes. The only thing I can think to do is type in direct chat, "Gillied sniper above the barn, I have my crosshair (note the lie) on your head. I don't want to shoot you so drop your rifle and run whichever way you think I'm not." I think this is fair. He got caught wandering through light brush... he should get killed for it, but all I want is his rifle... but nooooo... he's gonna be a hero! He thinks about my proposition for about 3 seconds then drops to prone and starts looking for me. I have to shoot him now. I put one into his head and 2 more into him. I run up to him and put another one into his head. The flies are a buzzin but it hasn't said he's dead yet. weird.... I put 2 more into him. Then he disappears. Ugh. Best part is I got the murder in my debug... lol. Alice pack, SVD and who knows what other goodies are gone. At least I'm still alive, but still... that's frustrating!
-
He was 100% wearing a ghillie. Doesn't the change just mean you cant pick them up anymore, but if you own one it stays around? Could this be why his body disappeared? I'm confused... As for running... i thought of that but he definitely would have seen me. he was walking directly at me with his gun up. i wouldnt have got 2 steps without getting popped.

Nice bump. Hooked me! I'm just waiting on Admin verification. I'll post an app at that point.

I know I can trust this community to poke holes in my idea. In fact, it may be so unoriginal that I get called a noob and get told to read the forums... fine. If you're worried about how long this post is and you're thinking of posting "lol walloftext", don't bother... nobody cares what you think anyways. so here goes!: Diablo 3 has a pretty good fix for the issue of running from your problems. A disconnect timer. You literally cannot do anything while this timer is counting down. - Essentially every player starts with a 15 second DC cooldown... that should stop people from DCing from zombies if nothing else. - The timer increases to 30 seconds if you've shot/injured someone (survivor or bandit) within 5 mins. Doesn't need to be a kill. - The timer increases to 45 seconds if you've killed someone within 5 minutes. This won't eliminate bandits, nobody wants that. This will eliminate bandits who can indiscriminately fire at whoever they choose and instantly escape repercussions. They'll now have to CONSIDER their firefights. They'll have to worry about being baited for their location(s) and they'll have to consider an alternative of letting a group pass. EDIT: I am aware that Rocket will be implementing a 5 second cooldown, and that a longer one is causing server sync issues. However, If those issues are solvable, this may be a good reason to put the work in. Here's a DayZ scenario in which "my" idea is applied: Bandit sniper is sniping a group. Group finds bandit sniper and comes at him (bro). As the Bandit hasn't hit anyone within 5 minutes he knows his cooldown timer is only 15 seconds and could escape this bind. However, he is in desperate need of that 18th murder so he keeps firing. Bandit hits one of the group... now his disconnect timer has increased to 30 seconds. Seeing as though the group is now really pissed off, he might be smart to run, but he's determined to take them down. He finally kills one. However there are 3 left and his disconnect timer is at 45 seconds because he just killed someone. If he can get away and hide for 5 minutes without hitting anyone else it'll reset to the 15 second standard, but they find him before he can run. Unluckily for the bandit, the group found an exploit in which they can insert their Enfield barrels directly up the DCing Bandit's ass... If only he could alt+F4! Now poke my beauties... poke!

I completely agree with you Altze. I mean 100% agree. However, you're talking about another problem. I know that hacking is the biggest issue in the game, it's just not the issue I chose to address in this post. When the issues you've outlined are solved, the issue I outlined will become the biggest issue. Once that is solved, another one will pop up...etc..etc..etc..
