  1. lol... it's true. I really only play a few types of games. Sports (hockey and baseball mostly) and FPS or adventure games. I don't really care how amazing sports games look, because I'm in it for the stats and competition. If I played them on PC, I'd just bump the details down to the point that they ran 100% smoothly. As for FPS games.. I like them for the challenge and competition. I like a good balance of details to playability. I won't play an FPS that I can't set to at least medium eye candy. Adventure games are about immersion and visuals. DayZ and even Arma II, although lacking in the visuals department, has immersion out of the wazoo. It's all about preference :)
  2. Funny story about learning this the hard way. I put 2 clips of my sidearm into one of the middle ones and ran out of ammo for it. Switched to an m4a3, attracted a boatload of zombies with it and still didn't get it.... ahhhhhh the good old days of noob naivete.
  3. realized I was starting a system war... edited for sanity of OP. I only play sports/racing games on consoles :)
  4. I thought this was gold. I'm waiting for some of my buddies to get good enough to be able to troll them. Right now they probably wouldn't even know what was happening...
  5. Besides... if you got even 10 hours of entertainment out of Arma II/Dayz, then you paid exactly $3/hr to be entertained. What else would you have spent that $3 on that would have been a better investment? Pizza? Some beer? A shitty movie and overpriced popcorn?

    The dangerous [Reverse Bandit!] US195

So good. There's nothing like yelling really nice things at people.. haha

    A noob unfriendly game.

I agree for the most part, but if you find a springfield early... cherish it. It has saved me early on from bandits and zeds. It's quiet, relatively strong (especially against zeds) and there's lots of ammo for it (check barns).
  8. I'm the exact same. Been playing for about a month and have only been shot at 3 times. I've met up with 10 or so randoms and either worked at something together, or just said hi and offered a trade. I think I've been pretty lucky as well!
  9. I've been saying this for the last few days.... It's all about what you want out of the game. If you don't care about starting over if someone shoots you on site, it becomes a lot easier to try to make contact with people. If you care about your gear, you're going to be less likely to communicate and more likely to KOS. It's not about them, it's about you!
  10. YES... A melee attack would balance it perfectly though. Doesn't kill players or zeds, just knocks them out after a few hooks.
  11. Thanks for the New backpack, and ammo for my Makarov! I was having a hard time silently taking out the Zeds around the hospital with my m4a3 CCO before you showed up and donated your pilstol ammo to the silent Zed killing cause. At the time that you shot me in the back 3 times I was firing at a line of 10 or so zeds that I had accumulated behind the hospital. Had you not been the absolute worst shooting bandit in the world, you would have made out like a champ... however, you suck, so you did not. I did! How did that frag nade taste, btw?
  12. If he'd shot me twice with an m1911 I'd have died instantly and he'd have raked in the loot. I had 1000 blood by the time I made it to the supermarket and ate 6-7 cans of food. Passed out in the streets 3 times... good times!
  13. That's what I thought. He obviously had killed enough people to become a bandit and shot me with a makarov.... weird. As for why I still had one... it's because I hadn't run across a better one. I saw tons of assault rifles but no better pistol than the mak.
  14. No... I don't actually think the person will read it. But if they did, it'd be awesome! 2000 blood, Z's running at me, guy just lit me up and is around a corner.... yes I threw a nade, and I'm still alive because of it. Calm yourself down.

Is everyone in DayZ like this?

I know exactly how you feel. But I have been getting/giving a lot more help lately. I find that if you get away from the big cities you'll find a lot more laid back people. Whenever I have to go into Cherno, Electro or Berezina I am on high alert. The adrenaline gets pumping and you're just waiting for some sniper to pop you. In this condition, If someone surprised me I might even KOS.

    laptop

Very well. I run it at absolutely full gfx and fraps with a good draw distance on a similar laptop. (6970m instead of the 670m)
  17. So why not put together a roving group of survivors who don't care if they get shot and killed? instead of a clan dedicated to fixing helis and sniping people at NWAF, get together all of the supplies you can, and legitimately help people. Record what you do... if you get shot, put it on the forums and show people that you're trying to help. If you create an antithetical side to the bandits, you'll give people hope that the good guys exist. As of now the most prevalent evidence of PvP interaction is banditry.... but if people act the opposite and SHOW PEOPLE that they're doing it... it will start "a ripple" as was said. Also... Rocket and the DEV team are aware of this issue and have stated that they plan on making a LOT more late-game depth... from building structures/bases to farming etc.. if this happens people will have something to do other than hunt noobs on the beach. Give it some time...

    Zombies way too hard now

Bump the pistol damage by 150% against zombies and you're good to go.

    Graphical bugs

I think it's safe to say that they're working on it. This isn't a balance issue or something subjective... This will be priority #1, I guarantee it.

    New laptop. Any advice?

I'll give you a good example of why someone might need a gaming laptop. I'm going to school across the world from where home. Obviously I wasn't going to bring my desktop over here so I chose to get a gaming laptop. I got the Samsung Series 7 Gamer. It's been about 6 months and I'm very happy so far! It is expandable to the point that I can put new HD's in it and upgrade the vid card if I can ever find one that is compatible with the onboard chipset. I definitely wish it was cheaper, but I can play arma II on all high gfx at 60fps, bf3 on high/ultra at 50fps and pretty much any other game over 50fps on high.

    Temperature is broken FYI

Yeah something is funky with the temp stuff. Rocket has recently said that he plans on overhauling the health/sickness/damage system. I'd say this should be addressed somewhat soon. SystemiK... There's no reason to jump on the guy for pointing this out. If anything it should just be in a different section of the forums.

    DayZ Public TeamSpeak (512 slots)

Holy crap that's crazy. I can only imagine how awesome that would be if everyone were in the same channel. haha. Good on ya for setting this up. I'll try to swing by next time I'm online.

    Graphical bugs

LOL that's one of the best one's I've seen. Add in a few elephants riding swans and you've got yourself a Salvador Dali!
