duuuuuuuude overwatch!! Good vid and nice try hiding with the bodies!

Only issue is that rendering dynamic blood pools will tax the sever and client more. Definitely cool ideas but they may create more performance issues than they're worth.
-
I see your problem. You're used to playing games like Skyrim and Total War in which you can just load from your last save instead of DayZ where you lose everything, instantly. If this game and its community is stressing you out that much, you NEED to quit... but this post was a poor idea.

A la Kirkman's "The Walking Dead" comic series. It would be awesome (and downright terrifying) to crest a hill and see 50+ zombos shuffling along together on their way to wherever zombos go. It would add another element to zombie difficulty, and would certainly result in some ridiculous circumstances (running into a horde and leading them towards a bandit camp!)

Best all around gun in the game. I have been carrying it around over all ARs and LMGs except the l85 because of its ridiculous OP thermal scope.

Holy thread resurrection! I really don't think this would be too hard to implement and would definitely make the zombies more important without making them "faster or stronger".

Remove all military sniper rifles....
sudZ! replied to gozzgug's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Presuming the standalone does a better job against hackers, you'll see a DRASTIC reduction in high powered weapons. Back before DayZ blew up, finding a CZ or an M24 in a loot spawn was pretty much magic. These days, everyone you see is walking around with a DMR or AS50. 50%+ of them are hacked in and circulate around. I, myself, have hidden about 20 AS50 TWS rifles on corpses in a little over 2 weeks. It's insane. -
Hey Folks, earlier today I was playing with some friends when we ran across our first vehicles. Exciting times. The issue was that the food and drink indicators did not change to reflect me starving/dehydrating. They were both green but I passed out due to blood loss because of the low values. Luckily I enabled debug or I wouldn't have even seen the blood loss and likely would have died. Is this something that tends to happen when you find vehicles? This is the only time I've ever seen or heard of this bug.

I think things may be a little easier for you in relation to videos if you make the Gallery title "DayZ Gallery (Pics and Vids)" or something of that nature... Pandering to the lowest common demoninator, ya know? p.s. OP, I think I'm getting too old for metal... haha. Next time try to incorporate some kind of a storyline... I think it would make your video more appealing ;) Good start though!

I played as a lone wolf survivor/hero for about 6 weeks and was spawn killed upwards of 10 times. One time I was AS50'd on the beach in Kamenka on a 10 person server before I even hit the highway... Biggest spawn troll ever! I recently started playing with some IRL friends and have found it A LOT more enjoyable to counter-bandit in the hills of Cherno and Electro, as well as take out snipers in NWAF. I do this with a DMR, not a zeroable rifle that, frankly, takes no skill to use. I have about 10 bandit kills this week with only one survivor murder.... but it was a bad one. He had literally nothing but scared the crap out of me by pointing his flashlight at me from about 30 meters (during the day). I discriminantly kill on sight because there's nothing else to do once you've had an AS50 ghillie, NVG etc.. Maybe in the future we'll start helping new spawns, but as of now we'll be having fun punishing those who have the ability to defend themselves.

Mountain dew IS unlucky. Here's why: I had been playing with a RL friend for about 3 days. I showed him the ropes and he became pretty competent at surviving and being a teammate. We managed to loot Stary and got some decent weapons, including a frag grenade that my buddy found. Shortly afterwards I found my first mountain dew. About a minute later I found a DMR an FN FAL at a crashed heli site. As a result of our new found firepower, we decided to ask a very experienced player that we know if he'd join up with us for a raid on the NWAF. He agreed and we decided to meet him just south of Stary as he was running from Cherno. He had an L85 with a m107, ghillie, NVG, GPS... everything. I believe he'd been alive for 30 days, and he played nearly every day. I told him I had a mountain dew and that we'd had good luck with it, but he wasn't believing it. He unsuccessfully tried to convince me to drop it. Mistake. So off we go... The server had about 15 people in it and none were obvious clannies, so we thought we'd probably get lucky and not run into too much resistance... it was also getting dark. By the time we were 300m or so from the AF, my noobish buddy realized he had no clue how to throw flares/chemlights. He's got both in his inventory so I give him a crash-course. Mistake. I told him to hit "f" and it would change to the flares... what I'd forgotten is that he had that fu^%)^@# frag grenade in his pocket. Yep, THAT happened... he dropped it and actually said "my flare didn't light up"..... BOOM. All three of us instantly die and spend the next 2 hours trying to navigate to our corpses in a server with a 1/8 full moon. Mountain Dew....

None of this should be unexpected. They announced a standalone and you expect them to hotfix a mod every week? That's just completely irrational, sorry to say.
-
Once the standalone was announced the mod was never going to be a priority. That's the way it should be. I'm sure there will be a few more patches in the coming months, but I certainly don't expect to see Rocket on these boards anywhere near as much as he once was. Not only does he have to develop the standalone, but he has to promote it and answer to the powers that be... it's all about time. If Rocket were posting constant updates for the mod, the same people complaining about the fact that he isn't would be all over him for not working on the standalone enough. I, for one, feel that I got my money's worth from Arma II and DayZ to the extent that if there was never another patch, I'd be content until the standalone came out.

I haven't got it since the newest update was released. my GPU is a 6970m.

I may be out of the loop a bit, but I'm surprised I haven't heard about clans scheduling matches. ie: meeting up in a pre-determined server, setting location parameters and going at it. With a lack of a coherent endgame, this seems to me to be a pretty good one. Bragging rights on the forums, top top top end gear for the victors... Just seems logical. I also understand the issues (hackers, alt F4ers etc...) but if you know who your opponent is, these issues would be diminished somewhat. Is this happening and I just don't know about it, or are people still too scared to lose their gear to have some fun?
-
I hear ya. I suppose if I were setting something like that up, I wouldn't worry about outside interference so much. It's just another value to take into account. But if I'm a survivor who isn't in a large group and I hear multiple AS50s, L85s etc in a city... there is no damned chance I'm going to wander into it unless I get the drop on them from a distance. I just think it's something exciting to do with all the gear people hoard, as opposed to having it destroyed by hackers or an overzealous admin.

Seeing that it doesn't exist in real life, I'm unlikely to rage. I'll definitely get one for my trips up North. The track function will be awesome for collecting meat. The whistles are poorly done, but are probably just a place-holder for the time being. Here's a vid of the dog tracking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYfyVjKuU18

I had pretty much taken it for granted that all games had ragdoll... then I played arma 2 and dayz. I think ragdoll was just becoming a standard around the time arma 2 was released, so I understand why it's not there. There have been so many times that i've shot a zombo running at full tilt and just wished he'd do a cartwheel... just once!
-
I cannot wait to ragdoll 5+ zombos with a jeep. Honestly I don't think people have discussed the physics benefit of the VR4 engine enough. No more cars warping through obstacles and then blowing up 20 feet down the road. No more zombies taking 3 steps after eating an AK round... I can't wait to mow down a pack of zombos with a shotgun and watch them fly back into each other. Bring on VR4 and the standalone!
-
I don't get any artifacts in elektro or cherno... Not everyone gets the same graphical errors, that's how you can release a patch and have it seemingly make things worse for some, and better for others. Maybe there wasn't a big enough sample size in the test before release... but they released an attempted fix with other BRAND NEW FEATURES within a week of the issue popping up. I don't think that's unreasonable, even if it didn't work. As for your Dota suggestion... I think it's a good one, dingleberry fondling aside.

Why are server admins allowed to cheat/hack?
sudZ! replied to bellum's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Moral of the story. Write down their server name and don't join it again. -
Omfg!!!! No game makes your heart beat like this one.

can't wait for the standalone. I've also noticed that people in the new player forum are WAY NICER than those in the general forum. I might hang out here more often! -

But the first time you play they aren't environmental annoyances. How quickly the more experienced players get jaded to their first time being in a city with zeds all around them... It was terrifying for me! It was night time a few patches back so I was able to sneak pretty effectively, but it was terrifying nonetheless. On my first night I managed to find a shotgun, makarov and a hatchet and thought I was armed to the teeth. I even took out a bandit who was sneaking through the trees outside of cherno but it was pitch black and I swore he saw me... I just laid prone until he was 15-20 feet away and then made the decision to take him out... that was the most stress I've felt in a game since I played competitive CS:S and had to play a 1v1 vs fRoD for a championship (he AWP'd me as I defused....ftl :( ). You won't get those anxious feelings as often as you become more aware of your surroundings, so enjoy them now OP! -
Generally when a game is in Alpha it's being tested by a niche community of a few hundred to a few thousand people. DayZ is different because it's being tested by 1 million. There's no way Rocket & co. can keep up with the expectations of 1million people on an engine like this. I understand that people bought Arma II just for dayZ, and I bet a lot of them thought they were getting a more polished experience... but they were wrong, and that's just how it is. My suggestion: Make an objective bug report in the forums in which you don't rage on and threaten anyone/anything... and then put the game down for a few weeks. Check back periodically to see how things are going... but you've proven that the slog of alpha testing isn't for you.

Awesome work guys. Only one question though. Why didn't the protagonist just hide in a pine tree when he was being chased? ;)
