I like seeing when and how players died in my server log so I modified (Unpack, edit, repack) @Hive\Addons\dayz_server\compile\server_playerDied.sqf file to do so. The diff and file below are from the DayZMod 1.8 release. This modification will give you messages in your server RPT like: Killed by zombie PKILL: Player1 was killed near Komarovo Killed by player PKILL: Player1 (001) was killed near Balota by Player2 (002) with weapon MeleeHatchet from 2.345m Killed themselves PKILL: Player1 killed themselves near Kamenka Diff Full file

For some reason I rarely encounter wolves and this is only the second time I've seen a wolf pack. I certainly didn't expect this encounter in a large city.

When DayZ 1.0 is out I think it will be amazing. In the meantime I have 92 other games in my Steam library to keep me busy when I'm tired of DayZ alpha.

I almost never play on the public hive so don't really have much input. As others have stated, having only official public hive servers should cut down on some abuses. Anything that moves the ball towards an immersive DayZ experience is OK in my book.

The new forest looks beautiful! I spend a lot of time in the woods in game so am really looking forward to exploring the new visuals. Also excited to at long last see all the pieces fall in place for the various systems. Good times ahead.

Like others have mentioned I'd like to see climbing for sure, like the enhanced movement mod for ArmA 3 only better. :)

Thanks Brian for sharing your thoughts here with us. I want DayZ to be a hardcore survival experience so am glad to hear you at least entertaining that possibility. Some of the best DayZ game play I had was on a short-lived mod of the mod called ShinyZ. It was utterly brutal and I loved it. I spent hours gathering the materials needed to craft a knife and just at the point of starvation managed to find and kill a rabbit. More often than not this mod killed me but I loved the rewarding feeling I got when I managed to cheat death for a while and stay alive. I for one hope DayZ standalone becomes equally as brutal of a survival experience. If not then I hope someone makes a mod that is hardcore. -
Mr. Hicks, I hear a lot of conjecture about the new engine. Could you briefly go over what Enfusion is and what, if any, parts of Enfusion are currently in Stable/Experimental? Will the switch to the new engine be gradual or will it be all at once when the tech is ready. Thanks!

Adding attachments to an RPK deletes current attachment. Example: start with RPK, add Kobra attachment to turn it into RPK Kobra. Now add PSO attachment. You get a RPK PSO and lose the Kobra attachment. If you try similar with M4 for example, you can't add other sights until you take the current sight off. Hope that makes sense. -
If you're looking for a hardcore server with plenty of interesting people to interact with then this is the place. You can find anything from KOS to peaceful trade, depending on who you run into.

As far as I know the survivor skin is random and inconsistent between clients. Yay ArmA.
