  1. I thought overall it was a good watch. The tactics were pretty sound and it was interesting to watch the stalk. My only real complaint is playing on a server that lets you find people with the "magic hand".
  2. I'm watching it now, calm down. ;) Some of us have jobs and families and can't be on the forums and YouTube 20 hours a day...

    Am I the only one?

I used to be afraid of losing good gear but then I realized how easy it is to find. Now I just play and enjoy the experience. Yesterday i died and lost the biggest backpack, all the gear except GPS and a really nice M4 holo. The sad part is I died helping a noob get away from 20-30 zombies (pro tip, don't stand and shoot it out with a horde of zombies with a Lee Enfield). He shot me so I was low on blood and then I got killed like a moron by 1 lone zombie while stalking a goat. But I digress, the point is within an hour I had all the survival gear again except a rangefinder and map and was having a blast again.

    The Lone Gunman

    Good story, thanks for sharing.
  6. So you're not hanging around on the Cherno factory roof shooting nooblets with your AK any more? That's where I killed you the other day. Could have been another by the same name I guess... Any way, best of luck on your quest!
  7. I'm glad I'm not the only one, that was embarrassing...
  8. I saw and experienced something in DayZ today that was very strange. While crouch running North through the woods NW of Cherno I happened to see a tree fall over about 250m ahead of me. I immediately stopped and hid in a bush because that was weird. I didn't even know trees could fall over in Dayz. Looking through binocs I could see several trees were laying down in the area where I saw the tree fall. I watched for a few minutes, looking for player activity but saw nothing. Angling away from where I saw the tree fall over I continued on my way but kept an eye on the area. Suddenly with no warning or sound my screen went black and white and blurry (like when you get shot) for a second and I thought I had been sniped. But I wasn't bleeding and had in fact lost no blood. I still ran like hell! I zigged and zagged all over while running away but never heard or saw anything. After getting half a km away or so I hid in a bush and watched my back trail for 5 minutes. Never saw a thing. What in the world was that? A game engine glitch? Do trees randomly fall over sometimes?
  9. I heard nothing but my own player and ambient forest sounds. I'm going to chalk this up to invisible hackers I think.
  10. No, I was quite far from Green Mountain.
  11. These are possible but I saw nothing at all and was looking right at the fallen tree and the surrounding area for several minutes.
  12. Good story! Thanks for writing it up and have some beans.
  13. I think I found one of those while scouting out Elektro to see if it was safe to enter. SNAP! Broken legs, shock, about 4K blood loss and unconscious for about 30 seconds. Ouch...
  14. Thank you for giving me a heart-pounding little adventure about 2 hours ago! I had scouted Elektro and saw no signs of life, player or zombie, so moved in to loot the power station firehouse and then the rest of the town. All I needed was a box of matches and I was all set to survive in the wilderness. The firehouse seemed clear as I approached so I went inside and capped a fiew curious zombies with my M9SP. Unfortunately I only had 1 clip and had already offed some zombies prior so finishing off these last 3 zombies emptied my gun. I proceeded to cautiously run up the tower and grab some loot. I think I only spent a couple minutes in the tower so was not expecting trouble when I came back down. As I exited the tower room into the main bay area I looked left and HOLY CRAP THAT IS A FRIGGIN .50 CAL POINTED AT ME!!! A prone sniper in the corner had me dead to rights. Fortunately for me his first shot missed. I proceeded to run around him a couple of times, clicking my empty pistol at him in my panic and then dart back into the little room at the base of the tower. My heart was pounding like a jackhammer, I wanted to LIVE! I sprinted like mad out of the room and through the big bay door (BAM! another miss) and around the corner I went like a crazed man. Zigging and zagging through town I kept waiting with shoulders hunched for the inevitable bullet. It never came, I had escaped! I ducked into a bush, drank some water from my canteen and tried to slow down my frantic breathing and heart rate. Circling wide I checked out the fire station from the hill to the East but saw nothing. I waited a good 10 minutes, hoping the hunter would leave to the North, away from my sprint direction. I never did spot him again. Thank you anonymous player, that was exhilarating!
  15. No ghillie and what looked like a regular starter backpack so I think this was just some guy that got lucky and found a nice gun. I'm pretty sure it was the M107 but I was a little preoccupied screaming like a little girl and peeing my pants... ;)

Wow that is some bad luck. :( You handled that better than I would have, that's for sure.

    Double Kill at NW airfield

Nicely done and thanks for writing it up, it was a good read.
  20. Well played sir, have some beans!

    Lee Enfield

The target was running away from me at about a 45 degree angle, blissfully unaware of me watching. I estimated 200m, lead him just so, held my breath and squeezed... 1 shot 1 kill. I love the dinner bell! I usually avoid people where possible but his name was Poop Water (or something like that) and he was running down the middle of a road after killing a zombie out in the open. It had to be done.

    Lee Enfield

Well, not quite that good of a shot. ;) Having shot the real thing though it was very gratifying to make a shot like that with the virtual rifle. Props to the ArmA II team for the ballistics.
  23. Maybe everyone but me already knew this... In your graphics options be sure to change the 3D resolution to match the main resolution. I couldn't figure out why Arma II/DayZ looked so blurry, now it looks crisp and sharp! :)
