    The Running Man

The art of Zombie Whispering goes way back. It finds it's origins in the bottle-troll movement, a seductive dance if you will.. involving smashing bottles around the feet of your would-be zombie love fiends in an act of courtship. Few realise that the modern day adaption of hurling a smoke grenade to distract a horde is actually steeped in this age-old tradition. Some dare recreate the ways of the ancients, but they are mostly legend... mostly.

    Will familiarity kill this mod?

Wouldn't be too hard to make airports off limits, if all the zombs were military and required a headshot to bring down. (minus a few high powered weapons for body shots) btw that jungle map is incredible

    Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed

If the entire zombieverse falls into anarchy, should we not be looking to the causes as opposed to instituting the training wheels of a 'humanity' system? Assigning people negative or positive values is too abstract. It's the equivalent of handing out golden stars or sending bad kiddies to the naughty corner. The problem is there is no mother figure in this situation, so it breaks immersion. People kill for a reason, and people team-up for a reason. Look at these reasons, then identify the ones that are completely out of context and adapt the environment.

    Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed

it's all about choice. lots of bandits were stuck being bandits, and survivors scared of becoming bandits. I think the PvP ratio will stay much the same, only people will be happier to follow their own path.

    Chemlights replace Flares at spawn.

oh hell no.. I love my flares. maybe give newbs the choice of a handgun or a flashlight :P

    Proximity chat

I still like the idea of global chat/voice. Assuming we all have access to a Chern-wide radio channel/post-apocalyptic twitter, if you're dumb enough to give away enough details over it you risk severely compromising yourself. It'll be interesting to see how things go without global

    Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed

Yay thank you! At the end of the day, keep it simple. Can't go wrong. Peoples actions should speak for their character

    People with helicopters

Given the rarity of finding or getting a working chopper, I would forgive anyone who killed me with it. I hope the feeling is mutual when I have a high powered assault rifle and spot mr choppy chops.

Best way to clear out all zombies?

I wish I had of filmed my last stand at the Balota airfield tower. After hoarding an m24, M16, AK-74, and AKM on the roof suddenly the zombiepocalypse didn't seem that much of an issue.

    Replacing Humanity with Morality

I eagerly await the day.. until my characters sins are washed away upon death. I'd rather have the choice to become a bandit, than to be stuck as one at the moment. Perhaps that is the answer. We all spawn neutral/civilian, then our actions determine our characters look over their lifespan. When they die, that life is gone with them. That's about as simple as it gets. None of the EVE Online spawning from the cloning vatts with our past misdeeds associated with our appearance.
  14. hella awesome. this is why the game needs a nervous breakdown system :P

    Replacing Humanity with Morality

There are two situations where the current humanity system really fails (and I can't see any forseeable way to overcome with the current system) A) n00b saibot spawns, goes incredibly trigger happy on anything that moves. He loses a bit of humanity, whilst I'm forced to benny-hill headless chicken run around him like an idiot. No real self-defense without humanity loss, when really you should gain some for firing back on them. b) Survivor & Bandit brolationship. I have no qualms about offing the bandit, but his survivor friend is another thing altogether. Ideally I'd kill him too because he's milking the safety of his bandit friends ability to kill anyone, and is essentially an accessory. But that too makes me evil. Maybe playing vigilante is just as evil as being a bandit, it is taking the law into your own hands afterall.

    DayZ and Basic Human Nature

I'm about to crack open a big can of worms- I see two types of people, those who see it as a 'game' and those who see it as a simulation of a survival scenario. I'm in the latter. L4D is a game, this is a simulation based on software that is used to train people to be effective killers. I don't play simulators for fun, I play them to experience something as quasi-realistically as possible that I wouldn't have the chance to IRL. And I suspect a lot of people use this to experience being a psychopathic trigger-fiend. So here's a moral dilemma: How is this different from firing up Flight Sim 98 and heading for the twin towers. That's a game right? Yet if someone confessed to doing that, they'd probably be banned and on the CIA watch list. But it's just a game. There's a double standard, and from my experience those who use the 'It's just a Game' argument are the first to cry me a river when things go pear-shaped ingame for them.

    Replacing Humanity with Morality

To be honest the idea came to me slighty due to Project Zomboid. I like how the mental state of your character deterioriates, to the point of hallucination etc. I think it's that missing element which reduces DayZ to deathmatch a lot, because our characters are completely without any human element. (good or evil) We don't connect to them much, hence don't care who they kill or if they get killed. We are actually worse than the zombies. They look after their own kind! This system encourages factionalism (which I think would likely occur) yet in no way stops you from being a lone wolf. There is always the chance to shoot a friendly for his stuff, then work on righting your moral compass. It's just food for thought. The current humanity system is too black and white.

Why does this game have so many idiots?

The closing chapter of humanity: One man left. Trying to re-populate the world. With his hand. ~Life finds a way~

The only thing I take issue with

There is also a distinct lack of horses and pterodactyls

    Crashed Chopper Loot

I was just about to make a thread about this.. according to the tables, they're the holy grail of loot. I've never gone near them because I assumed they'd have nothing. Does the loot spawn around them or do you access the choppers inventory?

Embarrasing Death After a Week of Surviving

Today I died because I threw a chemlight at a bandits face. Not that I was particularily fond of my AKM and the M24 in my backpack. On the bright side, it probably gave the dude a good laugh. Moral of the story? Press 'F'. Press 'F' a lot.

Dayz Helper: useful, easy to access links!

+1 for a higher res loot map! awesome resource though.. and now I know where to look for NVG's, and where not to waste my time sorting through trash and car parts.

    DayZ and Basic Human Nature

What is this flawed game mechanic? Anyone being able to shoot you was intended' date=' no? [/quote'] no, the humanity system. it encourages the downwards slide

maybe you can start a canned-food drive to raise funds for a med-evac chopper :P
